Instructions for Packing and Shipping a Parr 1281 Calorimeter
If it becomes necessary to return a Parr 1281 Calorimeter to the factory, the calorimeter must be carefully packed to prevent shipping damage. For best protection, Parr will furnish a heavy-duty shipping carton and a foamed plastic “trap” (spacer) which will align and hold the calorimeter firmly in place within the carton. The shipper must then prepare and pack the calorimeter as described below.

If a 1281 Calorimeter carton and trap is not available, prepare the calorimeter for shipment as described above and ship it in a sturdy box which will provide 3 or 4 inches clearance at the bottom and top, and 6 inches clearance around the sides of the unit. Place the calorimeter in a large plastic bag. Close the bag and set the calorimeter on a 3 or 4 inch layer of plastic peanuts or other dense, shock absorbing material in the bottom of the box. Then fill all remaining space with the packing material. Close the box and mark it as stated above. Apply arrows to identify the top of the shipment and strap the box firmly to a wooden pallet.
