Thank you for purchasing a Panasonic product.
The Electronic Touch Pen for plasma TV (hereafter referred
to as “Touch Pen”) can be used only with a Panasonic plasma TV to which application for Touch Pen operation has been installed. Before using, attach the supplied Bluetooth adaptor to a plasma TV which is not equipped with the Bluetooth communication function. * For the types of plasma TV compatible with this kit, visit

Accidental Ingestion
Keep Touch Pen parts in places out of the reach of
children.
There is a danger small children could swallow such parts by mistake.
• If a child accidentally swallows such parts, seek immediate medical attention.

Disassembly
Do not disassemble or modify the Touch Pen.
This may cause fi re or unit malfunction.
Surface temperature of TV
The TV may be hot. Do not touch it continuously.
Low temperature burn may result.
Handling of this unit
Remove the battery from this unit when not using for a
long period of time.
Otherwise, battery leakage, heat generation, ignition, rupture, etc. may be caused, resulting in fi re or damage to surrounding areas.
Do not place at locations where temperature rises
abnormally.
The surface of the unit or parts may deteriorate, or fi re may result.
• Be extremely careful inside a closed car in summer, locations exposed to direct sunlight and near a stove.
Do not splash liquid on or wet the unit.
If liquid enters inside the unit, short circuit or heat generation may occur.
Caution
AAA Battery
Keep the AAA battery in places out of the reach of
children. Accidentally swallowing them adversely affect bodies.
• If a child accidentally swallows such parts, immediately seek medical advice.
Incorrect installation may cause battery leakage,
corrosion and explosion.
• Replace only with the same or equivalent type.
• Do not use rechargeable batteries (Ni-Cd, etc.).
• Do not burn or break up battery. Do not disassemble battery.
• Do not expose battery to excessive heat such as sunshine, fi re, etc.
• Make sure you dispose of the battery correctly.

Touch Pen
Handle the Touch Pen carefully and store in a case
when not in use.
Failure to do so may damage Touch Pen, which may result in injury.
Store the Touch Pen in a cool and dry place.
Failure to do so may cause a short.
Operation on the screen
Do not forcibly hit or pick the TV screen with the Touch
Pen.
The TV may fall, or the screen may be scratched. Falling of TV may cause injury.
• Do not allow parts other than the pen tip of Touch Pen to touch the screen. This may scratch the screen.
• Do not move the pen with its pen tip pressed to the screen with force, or move the pen quickly. This may scratch the screen.
Touch Pen use
Use the Touch Pen, taking occasional breaks.
Guideline for continuous use is approx. 1 hour.
Eyestrain or physical deconditioning may result due to continuous use for long period of time.

Using Precautions
Cautions
Do not use devices that emit strong electromagnetic waves
(such as cellular phones or personal transceivers) near the Touch Pen. Doing so may cause the Touch Pen to malfunction.
The Touch Pen cannot operate fully at high or low
temperatures. Please use within the specifi ed usage temperature range (

Stop using the Touch Pen immediately if your skin feels
unusual. In rare cases, the paint or materials used in the Touch Pen may cause an allergic reaction.
Stop using the Touch Pen immediately if you experience
any redness, pain, or itching. Prolonged use may cause such symptoms due to excess pressure, which may result in the user feeling unwell.
Use in area of Bluetooth® signals from other devices may
interfere with Touch Pen operation.

Using radio waves
This unit uses the 2.4 GHz radio frequency ISM band (Bluetooth®). However other wireless equipment may use the same frequency. Be sure to take note of the following to prevent radio wave interference from other equipment.
Restriction of use
For use only in your country.
Interference from other equipment
Due to radio interference, malfunctions may occur if the unit is placed too close to other equipment. We recommend keeping the unit as far away as possible from the following devices:

devices other than this unit, wireless LAN, microwaves, offi ce automation devices, digital cordless telephones and other electronic devices. The unit is designed to automatically avoid radio interference from these household devices. However malfunctions may happen when radio interference occurs.

Power button
Press the button once to turn the power on. Pressing the button for approx. 2 seconds or longer while the power is on will turn the power off. This is also used when registering the Touch Pen on the television. For details on registration, refer to the Registration page. ( page 9) The Touch Pen automatically turns off if unused for 5 minutes.
Indicator lamp
Lights or fl ashes while using or charging to indicate the status of battery level and Touch Pen.
• Lights for approx. 2 seconds when turned on, and then blinks at approx 2-second intervals. Up to two Touch Pens can be used. The indicator blinks in red with Touch Pen 1 operation, and green with Touch Pen 2 operation.
• Also lights or blinks when registering the Touch Pen to the TV. For registration, see “Registration”. ( page 9)
• Blinks 5 times consecutively at power-on when the battery level is low.
Pen tip
Press the pen tip on this side of the Touch Pen against the screen for use Wrong use may scratch the screen.

Inserting the battery
When the battery level is low, the indicator lamp blinks 5 times when the Touch Pen is turned on. (Replacing the battery at an early stage is recommended.)
1. Turn and slide the unit cover until the entire shape of the battery is visible.

• The unit cover can be opened only up to the point where the battery is placed. Do not forcibly try to open further than that.

Registration
Registration to the TV for this use is required when using the Touch Pen for the fi rst time after purchase or using it on another TV.
1. Turn the (plasma) TV on to begin Touch Pen registration. Before using, attach the supplied Bluetooth adaptor to a plasma TV if it is not equipped with the Bluetooth® communication function. ( page 11)
• For how to start registration of the Touch Pen, see the
operating instructions of the TV.
2. Press the power button with the Touch Pen turned off. (When performing registration on another TV again, press the power button for 5 seconds or longer.)
• Registration of the Touch Pen to the TV will start.
• The indicator lamp blinks in red and green alternately
during registration.
• Place the Touch Pen within 50 cm (1.6 feet) from the TV
during registration.
• The Touch Pen automatically turns off if registration fails
even if 2 minutes or more has elapsed.
3. When the indicator lamp blinks in green for approx. 3 seconds, registration is complete and the TV is connected at the same time.
• After registration, when the Touch Pen is turned on near the
TV that is already on, it will be automatically reconnected to the TV.
• If registration is cancelled on the TV, register it again.

How to hold the Touch Pen
Hold the Touch Pen as shown in the fi gure.
Hold the center of the Touch Pen. Lightly press the tip side of the Touch Pen vertically against
the screen of the TV so that the tip is pushed in. If the pen is largely tilted or the tip is not pushed in, it does not operate normally.

Attaching the Bluetooth adaptor
Attaching the Bluetooth adaptor is required when using the Touch Pen with a TV if it is not equipped with the Bluetooth® communication function.
1. Press the power button on the TV to turn the TV off.
2. Insert the connector of the Bluetooth adaptor to the USB terminal on the TV.
3. Remove the release paper of the two-sided tape attached to the back side of the Bluetooth adaptor, and attach the Bluetooth adaptor with the two-sided tape to the position on the TV shown in the fi gure.

Storage and Cleaning
Clean using a soft, dry cloth. Do not use benzene, thinner, or wax on the Touch Pen, as
doing so may cause the paint to peel off.
Do not dunk the Touch Pen in liquid such as water when
cleaning.
Avoid storing the Touch Pen in hot or highly humid locations. Remove soil stuck to the pen tip with a cotton swab, etc. Be
careful not to subject the pen tip to impact since it is equipped with the sensor. Using with soil or foreign matters attached will cause scratch of the screen.
Disposal
A battery is included in the package, but not built into the unit. If you discard this product, please contact your local authorities or dealer and ask for the correct method of disposal.

Do not disassemble this product.
Danger
As the battery is specifi cally for this product, do not use it for any other device.
Do not charge the removed battery.
Do not throw the battery in a fi re, or apply heat to it. Do not pierce the battery with a nail, subject it to an impact,
or dismantle or modify it. Do not let the wires touch any other metal or each other. Do not carry or store the battery with a necklace, hair pin,
or the like. Do not charge, use, or leave the battery in a hot location
such as near a fi re or under the hot sun.
Doing so may cause the battery to generate heat, ignite, or rupture.

Warning
Do not place the removed battery, screws, and other items within reach of infants.
Accidental swallowing of such an item may have an adverse effect on the body.
In the event that you think such an item has been
swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
In the event of fl uid leaking from the battery, take the following action(s), and do not touch the fl uid with bare hands.
Fluid entering into an eye may cause loss of eyesight.
Wash the eye with water immediately without rubbing it,
and then consult a doctor. Fluid getting on your body or clothes may cause infl ammation of the skin or injury.
Suffi ciently rinse with clean water, and then consult a doctor.
Troubleshooting/Q&A

The Touch Pen does not work.

Perform registration if the pen has not been registered or you are not sure of the registration. ( Before use, register the pen to the TV for viewing. (

The indicator lamp does not illuminate even if the Power button is pressed.
► The battery may have run out.
The battery is empty if the indicator lamp does not illuminate even if the Power button is pressed. Replace the battery.
If the Touch Pen is turned on, the indicator lamp blinks but turns off in several minutes.
► The Touch Pen automatically turns off if unused for
5 minutes. Turn the power on again.
► The Touch Pen has not been registered to the TV.
Perform registration again.
