Brackets are used to secure the OmniRx cabinet in case of an earthquake. These restraints help
minimize injury to hospital personnel and damage to equipment by eliminating cabinet
movement.
This document provides instructions for installing seismic restraint brackets on an OmniRx
cabinet. It is divided into the three sections that make up the installation:
Bracket positioning for drilling
Bracket mounting
Fitting the OmniRx onto the brackets
The following kit is required in order to install the seismic restraint brackets.

installation.
Procedures
Bracket Positioning
1. Locate the exact space the OmniRx will occupy permanently. Take into account the amount of
space needed to house the OmniRx plus additional space to be able to reach the connections at
the rear of the PC box.
Note: The OmniRx must be an additional ½ inch away from the wall during this step so that the anchoring
2. Mark the position of the brackets on the floor.
Figure 1-1. Mark the position on the floor
3. Have a contractor drill eight holes in the exact locations marked.
Note:
It is the responsibility of the structural engineer of record to authorize any permanent changes (i.e., drill
holes) to the floor of the facility. Omnicell employees should never perform any procedures that involve
permanently modifying the facility’s structure.
Brackets Installation
Note: If it is necessary to hammer the anchors, take care not to damage the threads.
1. Expand the anchor by tightening the nut to the manufacturer’s specification.
Figure 1-2. Install the anchor/bracket
2. Move the unit onto the brackets.
3. Make sure each bracket is away from the side of the unit by approximately 1/16th of an inch.
4. Transfer the locations of the dowel pins on the brackets to the OmniRx cabinet.
