A: The main differences between the C-4000 Zoom and the C-4040 Zoom is that the C-4000 Zoom added the following:
Virtual Mode Dial for quick selection of 6 Scene Program modes and 4 custom "My Modes"
Super Macro for extreme close-ups. You can photograph your subject as close as 0.2m.
AF Area – allows you to select the area that you want to focus on; by changing the position of
the AF Target Mark.
NTSC and PAL video output – now you can also view your images on a television overseas. This camera includes both NTSC and PAL video output options.
Selectable Language Menu - The menu can be viewed in four different languages (English, French, German and Spanish).
3:2 Aspect ratio – lets you print the entire image without losing its borders; almost the same image size used by photo labs.
PW On/Off – Sets the picture displayed on the monitor when the camera is turned on or off.
Histogram - displays the brightness and contrast of the subject on your camera monitor
during shooting and playback modes.
The C-4040 Zoom offers:
A Remote Control option An F1.8 aperture which is better suited for low light photography without flash.
Q: Where is the Reference Manual for the C-4000 Zoom?
A: The CD-ROM provides a full Reference Manual in PDF format on the CD-ROM. Adobe Acrobat which is provided on the CD-ROM is necessary to view the PDF manual. The printed manual that is included with the camera is a "Basic Manual".
Q: How do I download from the camera to my computer?
A: Instructions for downloading images from the C-4000 Zoom are located on the CD Rom under the "Reference" under "Connecting the Camera to a PC", or at our web site (http://www.olympus-europa.com).
Q: What is the battery life expectancy of the C-4000 Zoom?
A: The battery life on alkaline batteries vary according to manufacturer and power rating. Alkaline Batteries can provide up to 150 shots with typical usage. The Olympus CR-V3 long-life lithium batteries will provide approximately 400 shots. The Olympus Ni-MH batteries would provide approximately 250 shots per charge and they can be recharged 300 to 500 times.
Q: Are the provided Olympus LB-01 CR-V3 lithium batteries rechargeable?
A: No, the Olympus LB-01 CR-V3 lithium batteries are not rechargeable.
Q: What do I need to attach a filter to the camera?
A: You would need the CLA-1 Lens Adapter Tube and the 43-55mm Step Up Ring .
Q: What do I need to attach a conversion lens to the camera?
A: You would need the CLA-1 Lens Adapter Tube and the appropriate Step Up Ring that comes packaged with the conversion lens.
Q: Which conversion lenses can I use with the C-4000 Zoom camera?
A: You can use any of the following lenses with the C-4000 Zoom camera: WCON-08E B-28 Wide Angle Lens - (includes 43-55mm Step Up Ring)
TCON- 14 1.45 Teleconverter Lens - (includes 43-46 mm Step Up Ring)

Q: Can a remote control be used with the C-4000 Zoom camera?
A: No, a remote control can not be used with the C-4000 Zoom camera.
Q: What is the purpose of the Extension Flash connector terminal?
A: You can use the Extension Flash connector terminal along with the optional flash bracket "FL­BK01" and bracket cable "FL-CB01"; for the Olympus FL-40 dedicated flash. With the use of bracket cable "FL-CB04", you can use another brand extension flash.
Q: How do I connect an external flash to my C-4000 Zoom?
A: For external flash use with the C-4000 Zoom, you will need the appropriate flash cable and grip. Please use the following chart as a reference: Exclusive Grip FL-BK01- used to mount external flash to the C-4000 Zoom. Bracket Cable FL-CB01- this cable is required for the dedicated FL-40 flash. PC Flash Cable FL-CB04- this cable is required for any "other" external flash/strobe use that connects with pc sync cable.
Q: Does the C-4000 Zoom camera have a video output feature?
A: Yes, it supports both NTSC and PAL.
Q: Is sound recording available on the C-4000 Zoom? A: No, the camera does not have a built-in microphone.
