over the open airways. Because of the inherent physical

MPORTANT ELECTRICAL CONSIDERATIONS
Warning!
Do not a ttempt to unplu g any appliance during an ele ctrical
storm.
Unplug all electrical appliances when you know an electrical
storm is approaching. Lightning can pass through your
househol d wi ring and dam ag e an y devi ce c o nne cted t o it. Th is
telephone is no exception.
Caution:
Changes or modifications to this product not expressly
approve d by NE C Americ a, Inc., or operat ion of th is produ ct
in any wa y o ther th an as det ailed b y th is m anu al , cou ld vo id
your aut hority to ope rat e t his product.
Range
The new telephone is designed to achieve a maximum range of
up to 150 feet (depending upon the environment) by
transmitting and receiving according to the highest
specificat ions set forth by the FCC. We ha ve rated this pho ne
to operate at a max imu m dis ta nce w ith the qual ific ation t hat t he
range depend s upon the environmen t in which the telep hone is
used. Many fact ors limit range, and it would be im possible to
include a ll of the variab les in our rati ng. The max imum range
rating of this telephone is meant to be used as a means of
comparison against other range claims.
Telephone Line Problems
The FCC has granted the telephone company the right to
disconnect service in the event that your telephone causes
problems on th e telephone line. Also, the telephone comp any
may make changes in facilities and services which can affect
the operati on of your un it. However, your telepho ne company
must give adequate notice in writing prior to such actions to
allow you time fo r making nece ssary arrangem ents to contin ue
uninterrupted service.
1 - 6Specifications and Safety Information
Page 16
NEC America, Inc.Issue 1
If you are having trouble with your telephone service, you
must first disconnect your tel ephone to determine if it is the
cause of your pro blem. If you d etermine tha t it is the cause,
you must leave it disconnected until the trouble has been
corrected.
Radio Interference
Radio interference may occasionally cause buzzing and
humming in your cordless handset, or clicking noises in the
base unit. This interference is caused by external sources
such as T V, fluorescent lighti ng, or el ectr ical stor m. Your unit
is NOT DEFECTIVE. If these noises continue and are too
distracting, chec k around your office to see wha t appliances
may be causing the problem. In addition, we recommend that
the base not be plugged into a circuit that also powers a major
appliance because of the potential of interference. For best
performance, ens u re that the a n tenn a on the base unit is fully
extended.
D
term
Cordless Lite
In the unlikely event that you consistently hear other voices or
distracting transmissions on your telephone, you may be
receiving radio signals for another cordless telephone or other
source of interference. If you cannot eliminate this type of
interference, you need to change to a different channel.
Finally, it should be noted that some cordless telephones
operate at freque ncies that ma y cause interf erence to ne arby
TVs and VCRs. To minimize or prevent such interference, the
base of the c ordless tel ephone shou ld not be pl aced near or
on top of a TV or VCR. If interference is experienced, moving
the cordless telephone fa rther away from the T V or VCR wi ll
often reduce or eliminat e the interference.
More than One Cordless Telephone
If you want to use more than one cor dless tele phone in your
office, they must operate on different channels. Press the
channel key to select a channel that provides the clearest
communication.
