Using for the first time

The coee machine must be built in and connected to the mains electricity supply before operating. Please refer to the separate Operating and installation instructions booklet.
ĺ Clean the appliance and the
cappuccinatore thoroughly before filling with water and coee capsules.

Water hardness
Programme the coee machine to the water hardness level of your area so that it functions correctly and does not get damaged. Please refer to the Operating and installation instructions for more detailed information.

Operation
When the following appears in the display, you are in the drinks menu:
To prepare a drink, select a coee blend and touch one of the drink sensors.
Selecting a menu and navigating within a menu
To select a menu, touch the relevant sensor. The arrow sensors allow you to display and highlight further options. Options which are currently selected will have a tick next to them.
If you want to select an option, touch the arrow sensors until the option you want is highlighted. Touch the OK sensor to confirm your selection.
Leaving the menu or cancelling an action
To leave the current menu, touch the "Back" sensor. If you do not touch a sensor for a period of time, the machine returns to the drinks menu.

CONTROLS AND DISPLAY
Filling the water container
It is important to empty and fill the container with fresh tap water every day to avoid the risk of bacteria building up.
ĺ Open the appliance door and
remove the water container.
ĺ Fill the water container with
fresh, cold tap water up to the "max" marker.
Filling the capsule carousel
Important! Fill the carousel exclusively with Nespresso coee capsules.
To be able to select the types of coee in the display for dispensing, ensure you fill the chambers according to the allocated type of coee. If you wish to use other types of coee, you must save these dierent types.
ĺ Pull the carousel runner out as
far as it will go.
ĺ Place the capsules in the
chambers of the carousel with the silver base facing downwards.
Making espresso or coee
ĺ Place a cup under the central spout. ĺ Use the arrow sensors to highlight the
required type of coee.
ĺ Now select the type of drink you want.
Espresso Coee Long coee
The coee or espresso will be dispensed from the central spout into the cup.
Preparing a double portion
ĺ Touch . ĺ Select the type of drink you want.
Two portions of the desired drink will be dispensed from the central spout.
Cancelling preparation
You can cancel preparation while "Stop" is visible in the display.
ĺ Touch the OK sensor.
If a double portion is being prepared, a single touch of the OK sensor will only cancel the first portion. To cancel preparation completely, touch and hold the OK sensor for longer.

Preparing hot milk, milk froth and cappuccino
Ĝ
Danger of burning and scalding on the steam valve. Steam and any hot water being dispensed is very hot.
Rotary valve
Milk spout
Turn the rotary valve either clockwise or anti­clockwise as far as it will go. Steam will be emitted quite strongly if the dot on the valve is between either of these two settings.
} Hot milk (Turn the valve anti-clockwise)
{ Milk froth (Turn the valve clockwise)
You can allow the hot milk to pour into a cup or be dispensed directly into the cappuccinatore jug. To do this, the milk spout must either be pushed in or pulled out:

Preparing milk froth
ĺ Select whether you want to dispense
milk froth into a cup or directly into the cappuccinatore. Fill with cold milk up to either the upper or lower marker and fit the lid.
ĺ Turn the rotary valve on the
cappuccinatore clockwise all the way to {.
ĺ Place the cappuccinatore in the inset
of the drip tray. Push the steam valve down slowly until it engages in the cappuccinatore.
ĺ Push the valve back up once enough milk
has been frothed.
Preparing hot milk
ĺ Select whether you want to dispense
hot milk into a cup or directly into the cappuccinatore. Fill with cold milk up to either the upper or lower marker and fit the lid.
ĺ Turn the rotary valve on the
cappuccinatore anti-clockwise all the way to }.
ĺ Place the cappuccinatore in the inset
of the drip tray. Push the steam valve down slowly until it engages in the cappuccinatore.
Tip: Heating the milk in the cappuccinatore jug gives you hotter milk.
Please refer to the Operating and installation instructions for more detailed information on cleaning and care. Clean the coee machine every day to avoid a build-up of bacteria.
Recommended time interval
Each time milk is used to make a drink, if more than one hour has passed since the last drink was made

The following parts must not be cleaned in a dishwasher:
– Capsule plate
– Plastic grille
– Capsule carousel and carousel runner
All other removable parts can be cleaned in a dishwasher.

What do I have to do?
– Rinse the lid of the cappuccinatore
– Clean the cappuccinatore
– Clean the water container
– Clean the waste container
– Clean the drip tray
– Clean the grille and the drip tray cover
– Clean the central spout cover
– Clean the capsule carousel and the carousel runner
– Clean the drip tray inside the machine door
– Clean the inside of the machine
– Clean the steam valve
– Clean the front of the machine (especially important
straight after descaling)
– Clean the capsule plate (using a cleaning tablet)
– Replace the capsule hopper
– Descale the machine when prompted to do so

Capsule plate
Clean the capsule plate once a month with the cleaning tablets supplied or, at the latest, when the machine is descaled.
ĺ Open the appliance door.
ĺ Press on the handle and pull out the
capsule plate.
ĺ Fill a small container with hot water and
dissolve one cleaning tablet in it.
ĺ Place the capsule plate in the cleaning
solution and leave for approx. one hour.
ĺ Once all the coee grounds have
been removed, rinse the capsule plate thoroughly and dry it.
ĺ Push the capsule plate back into the
machine until it clicks into place.
Cappuccinatore
The lid of the cappuccinatore can be dismantled for cleaning. It is best to clean the cappuccinatore in the dishwasher if possible - all parts are dishwasher-safe.
ĺ Dismantle the cappuccinatore lid.
Remove the spout and the rotary valve.
The rotary valve can only be pulled out if the dot is set between the symbols for hot milk } and milk froth {.
ĺ After cleaning, reassemble the lid of the
cappuccinatore as shown in the picture.
Important! Spillages and splashes of descaling agent may cause damage to the front of the coee machine or surrounding surfaces, such as worktops or wooden flooring. To protect the machine and surrounding surfaces from damage, make sure you wipe up any spillages or splashes of descaling agent immediately.
Only use the Original Miele descaling tablets supplied with the appliance. Other descaling tablets may damage the appliance and aect the taste of the coee.
The descaling programme takes approx. 12 minutes. To descale the coee machine, you will need
– the red descaling funnel and
– the Original Miele descaling tablets (2
tablets per programme).
The descaling programme cannot be cancelled once it has started. It must be completed through to the end.
ĺ Touch. Select "Descale" and confirm
with OK.
The descaling programme will begin.
ĺ Follow the instructions in the display. ĺ Fill the water container to the marker
with lukewarm water and drop two descaling tablets in the water. Push the water container back into the appliance.
Ensure that you adhere to the mixing ratio for the descaling tablets. It is important that you do not fill the water container with more or less water than prescribed. The descaling programme will otherwise be cancelled prematurely and will need to be repeated.
When "Remove capsule plate. Insert descaling funnel and close the door" appears in the display:
ĺ Remove the capsule plate and insert the
red descaling funnel.
Tip: Place the waste container under the central spout and steam valve.
When "Rinse the water container and fill with fresh tap water up to the descaling symbol " appears in the display:
ĺ Carefully rinse the water container with
clean tap water.
Ensure that no descaling solution residue remains in the water container.
Descaling has finished when "Empty the drip tray and clean the contacts. Process finished" appears in the display.
Allocating types of coee (Type allocation)
You can store five dierent types of coee in this machine. When the coee machine is switched on and the carousel runner is pulled out, the type of coee in the chambers is shown in the display.
Selecting coee type allocation
ĺ Touch and use the arrow sensors to
highlight "Type allocation".
ĺ Select the required chamber.
For this chamber, you can now:

The tick indicates which type of coee is allocated for this chamber at the present time.

If you have already allocated types of coee, you can change (Change type) or delete (Delete type) them.

Changing the portion size
ĺ Touch and hold the sensor for the desired
drink until "Change" appears in the display;
or
ĺ Touch . Select "Portion size" and
confirm with OK.
ĺ Use the arrow sensors to highlight the
required drink and confirm with OK.
The desired drink will be dispensed and "Save" will appear in the display.
When the cup is filled to the level you want,
ĺ touch the OK sensor.
You can cancel portion size programming while "Stop" is visible in the display.
User profiles
You can set up User profiles in your coee machine and save individual portion sizes for espresso, coee or long coee.
The name of the current User profile is shown in the top left of the display.

Touching takes you back to the previous menu.
The "Language" option can be found via the flag symbol .
Depending on which option you select, the machine may use more energy. A message appears in the display to inform you of this.
For "Switch on at" and "Switch o at" to be set, the timer must be activated and at least one day of the week must be allocated.
* Your own types of coee can only be changed or deleted if these have already been programmed into the machine.
Touch the arrow sensor until all of the segments are empty, and "Switched o" appears in the display.
To switch o the tones, touch the  arrow sensor until all of the segments are empty and "Switched
off" appears in the display.
