CVA 40xx
These short instructions are not a substitute for the Operating
Instruction booklet supplied with your coffee machine.
Please read the Operating Instruction booklet supplied with your
machine before using it for the first time and take note of the
Warning and Safety instructions as well as the full descriptions
on how to use your machine.

Tips on making drinks
2 coffees or 2 espressos
CVA 4060: Press the right-hand control knob twice in quick succession.
^
CVA 408x: Touch the sensor pad next to "2 portions".
To interrupt making coffee or espresso
To interrupt preparation press the right-hand control knob (CVA 4060) or press
^
the "+ C" sensor pad (CVA 408x).
Cappuccino
Place a jug of
^
milk underneath
the suction tube.

Select the type of drink required.
CVA 4060:
^ Press and hold the right-hand control
knob until "Programme the amount"
appears in the display.
^ Release the control knob and then
press it again when there is sufficient
liquid in the cup.
Place a cappuc

CVA 408x:
^ Press the sensor pad until
"Programme the amount" appears in
the display.
^ Release the touch sensor next to "ok"
and then press it again when there is
sufficient in the cup.
Select "Cappuc

given in the
display.

Setting the amount of espresso required for a cappuccino
^
When prompted, place a cup underneath the coffee spout. Then press the
right-hand control knob or the sensor pad next to "Cappuccino" until
"Programme the amount" appears in the display.
Making coffee with ready-ground coffee
^
^
Open the front of
the coffee
machine.
^
Pull out the
ground coffee
container
(top left).
Open the cover to the ground coffee
a.
^
Place 1 level spoon of ground coffee
in the chute b and then close it.
^
Follow the instructions in the display.

Important care tips
All parts, except the brew unit and the coffee bean container, are dishwasher safe.
Before use:
It is very important to programme the water hardness level into the machine to
^
prevent limescale building up too quickly. See "Setting the water hardness"
section in the Operating Instruction booklet.
Regular maintenance:
Follow all maintenance instructions that appear in the display.

The following must also be cleaned on a regular basis:
All parts of the drip
The machine door

carefully.

cleaned in the
dishwasher,
including the black
grille inside the
machine.
^ Wipe the small
drip tray inside
the door.
^ Clean the
surface and
channel underneath the water
container
(bottom right).

Using a damp
cloth wipe the
inside of the ma
chine. A vacuum
cleaner can be
used on dried
coffee grounds.
Display message "Please run cleaning programme" (= degrease the brew unit)
^
Open the cover
to the ground
coffee chute.
^
Clean the bean
container (top
-
right) with a
solution of hot
water and
washing-up liquid.
^
The connection in the door between the
brew unit and the coffee outlet should be
wiped clean with a damp cloth. The seal
should be lubricated once a month with
the grease supplied.
^
Place a cleaning tablet in the
chute. Close the cover and follow
the instructions in the display.

Clean the brew unit
Press button a

under the handle

Cleaning the cappuccinatore

Rinse residues off the steel filter in the

brew unit using your fingers, and pat
dry with a tea towel.
After cleaning

lubricate the
seals.

spout and
suction tube
downwards b.
^ Dismantle the
parts. Dismantle
the part with the
seal by twisting
and pulling
apart. Clear
holes by blowing.
^ When replacing
the cappuccinatore, make sure
that it is locked in
place with the
lugs facing
downwards.
Descaling the machine (approx. 20 mins)
Important: Only use the descaling tablets supplied with the machine. The
descaling funnels must be used to prevent the front of the machine being
splashed and damaged by descaling agent.

Fill the water con

warm water and
