The MR 81 is a digital FM/AM tuner with six station automatic tuning on either AM or FM plus
automatic scan up or down the FM band. These
facilities interface with, and can be remotely
selected and operated by the Mclntosh CR 5 Remote
Control System.
Mclntosh engineering has developed new circuits
whose useful sensitivity and selectivity had been
thought to be achieveable, but only in theory; yet,
the MR 81 performance proves them to be not only
achieveable but practical.
Complex signal processing circuits have been
developed to provide maximum dimension and
stereo image stability regardless of interferring
noise of unwanted signals. These same signal processing circuits produces AM with a synthesized
stereo like sound image derived from mono programs. Automatic AM stereo will be heard when
such programs are broadcast.
