Battery Cautions:

The helicopter is equipped with a rechargeable 7.4V
Li-Ion battery. Please pay attention to the following
cautions for safe use:
• Do not dispose of battery into fi re or heat.
• Do not use or leave battery near a heat source, such
as fi re or a heater.
• Do not strike battery or throw it against a hard surface.
• Do not immerse battery into water. Keep battery cool
and dry.
• When recharging battery, use only the included USB
charge cord.
• Do not connect battery to an electrical outlet.
• Do not directly solder battery or pierce it with a nail or
other sharp object.
• Do not transport or store battery together with metal
objects such as necklaces, hairpins, etc.
• Do not disassemble or alter battery.
• Recycle used batteries.
• Replace batteries or recharge
helicopter if your range is not
suffi cient for controlled fl ight.
• Do not drop the helicopter by
suddenly reducing the throttle
setting. This could lead to severe
damage to the helicopter.
• Do not touch the motors in the
helicopter after fl ying. The motors
may be hot to the touch.

Helicopter Charging Procedure
IMPORTANT!! ALWAYS charge the helicopter LIPO battery in a location that is fi reproof.
NEVER leave the battery unattended while being charged! If the battery feels warm during
charge, remove the battery at once and disconnect the charge cord from the power source.
NOTE: The normal safe charging time for the Diamondback
Helicopter battery is 2+ hours. However, charge time
could be less depending on the state of the battery before
charging.
1. Always turn off both the helicopter and Controller.
2. Place the helicopter on a fi re resistant surface before
charging.
3. Plug the A/C wall adapter into outlet.
4. Insert AC wall adapter plug into the charger.
5. Make sure the red battery leads on the helicopter are
disconnected.
6. The GREEN LED on the charger will be lit, indicating
standby mode. The RED LED on the charger will be OFF.
7. Plug the white battery plug into the white charge jack on
the charger. The battery plug will only fi t in the correct
position. The RED LED will glow RED and remain RED
during charging. Both the RED and GREEN LED’s should
glow solid while charging.
8. When the battery is fully charged, the GREEN LED will turn
OFF. Remove the battery from the charger at this time.
9. Remove the A/C wall charger from the outlet.
10. When you are ready to fl y, connect the red battery leads

NEVER leave battery unattended during the charging process!
NOTICE: When not using your helicopter, turn off the helicopter and Controller
power switch. Doing so will extend the battery life of the Controller and helicopter.

IMPORTANT PRECAUTIONS
• Charge only the Estes Diamondback Helicopter lithiumion rechargeable battery.
• Do not attempt to use this charger with NiCad, NiMH or
different types of Lithium-Ion batteries as they are not
compatible!
• Do not leave charger unattended while charging.
Disconnect the battery and remove input power from
charger immediately if either becomes hot! However, it
is normal for the charger to get warm.
• Disconnect battery from charger immediately and
remove to a fi re proof location if battery begins to swell
or smoke!
• Only use the included approved AC adapter to power
the charger.
• Do not allow water, moisture or foreign objects into the
charger.
• Do not block the air intake holes, which could cause
charger to overheat.
• Do not place charger or any battery on a fl ammable
surface or near a combustible material while in use.
• Do not charge on a carpet, cluttered workbench, paper,
plastic, vinyl, leather or wooden object.
• Always disconnect charger from input power when not
in use.
• Do not attempt to charge a battery if it is swollen or hot.
• Keep out of reach of children.

Flying Your Helicopter
GET READY TO FLY
1. Fly only in a large open space without any obstructions.
2. Extend the antenna.
3. Turn on your controller, then turn on the helicopter.
4. To arm the helicopter, push the throttle control stick all the way forward, wait a
moment, then pull the throttle stick all the way back.
5. Make sure that the controller LED is shining steadily and that the helicopter lights
are blinking.
6. Place your helicopter on a fl at surface approximately 10 feet away.
7. You are now ready to lift off and command your helicopter for fl ight.
CONTROL INPUTS
LIFTOFF
To lift off, push the throttle stick forward to get the rotors moving.
Advance the throttle stick until the helicopter becomes airborne.
LANDING
To land your helicopter, slowly pull back on the throttle stick while
maintaining a constant heading (tail toward you) until the helicopter
touches down. After touchdown, pull the throttle stick all the way back.

HOVERING
After obtaining a steady “hover”, you can adjust the direction of the
helicopter with the FLIGHT TRIM DIAL. Turn the dial right or left or until the
helicopter quits rotating in either direction while hovering or during fl ight.
FORWARD FLIGHT
Push FORWARD gently on the right control stick. To stop your forward fl ight,
pull back gently.
STEERING – RIGHT OR LEFT
To rotate RIGHT, apply gentle RIGHT hand pressure to the right
control stick. To rotate LEFT, apply gentle LEFT hand pressure to
the right control stick.
BACKWARD FLIGHT
To fl y BACKWARD from a steady hover, apply gentle BACKWARD
pressure to the right control stick. To stop your backward fl ight,
apply gentle forward pressure.

Helicopter Flight Modes
Your Copperhead helicopter has two fl ight modes: a basic mode for learning and
another for more advanced fl ying. After you have mastered basic fl ight commands
and can comfortably fl y your helicopter in all directions and altitudes, you can
select the “ADVANCED FLIGHT MODE” by pushing the button on the lower right
hand of the controller. The helicopter’s tail rotor will become more responsive to
your FORWARD and BACKWARD commands. To return to the basic mode, simply
push the “ADVANCED FLIGHT MODE” button again.
