The rolling cabinet is suitable for the following centrifuge types: Centrifuge 5810, 5810 R,
5804, 5804 R. The rolling cabinet is used as a permanent location (alternative to a lab
bench) and for transporting the centrifuge short distances.
Accessories, e.g., rotors, can be stored in the drawer of the rolling cabinet.
2 rolling cabinet versions are available:
• Rolling cabinet (without electrical components):
The centrifuge is directly connected to the power supply.
• Rolling cabinet with transformer (only available in Japan):
Only for centrifuges (5810, 5810 R, 5804, 5804 R) with 120 V mains voltage.
• The integrated transformer allows a centrifuge with a 120 V mains voltage to be
connected to a 100 V power supply.

3Safety
3.1Intended use
The rolling cabinet is exclusively intended for Centrifuges 5810, 5810 R, 5804 and 5804 R
and use indoors.
The rolling cabinet is available in two versions: one version without electrical components
and one version with electrical components (transformer). The rolling cabinet with
transformer is exclusively intended for use with centrifuges (5810, 5810 R, 5804, 5804 R)
with 120 V mains voltage. The rolling cabinet with transformer is only intended to be
connected to a power supply with 100 V mains voltage.
3.2User profile
The rolling cabinet may only be operated by trained and skilled personnel.
Carefully read the operating manual and become familiar with the functionality of the
rolling cabinet before using it.
3.3Information on product liability
The safety of the rolling cabinet may be compromised in the following cases. Liability for
any resulting property damage or personal injury is then transferred to the operator:
• The rolling cabinet is not used in accordance with the operating manual.
• The rolling cabinet is used outside of the specifications of its intended use.
• The rolling cabinet is used with accessories that are not recommended by Eppendorf.
• The rolling cabinet is maintained or repaired by persons not authorized by Eppendorf.
• The user makes unauthorized changes to the rolling cabinet.

3.4Warnings for intended use
Read the operating manual and observe the following general safety precautions before
using the rolling cabinet. As only one rolling cabinet version contains electronic
components (transformers), the additional safety precautions for the rolling cabinet with
transformer are listed separately.
CAUTION! Poor safety due to incorrect accessories and spare parts.
The use of accessories and spare parts other than those recommended by
Eppendorf may impair the safety, functioning and precision of the device.
Eppendorf cannot be held liable or accept any liability for damage resulting from
the use of incorrect or non-recommended accessories and spare parts, or from
the improper use of such equipment.
Only use accessories and original spare parts recommended by Eppendorf.
CAUTION! Risk of injury due to moving or bumping the device during
centrifugation.
Do not move or bump the rolling cabinet during centrifugation.
Do not open the drawer during centrifugation.
Only centrifuge when the castor stops are locked.
CAUTION! Risk of tipping over when the drawer is extended.
Risk of injury or material damage from the rolling cabinet tipping over.
Do not lean against or support yourself on the drawer when extended.
Do not place any objects on the extended drawer.
NOTICE! Damage to the contents of the drawer as a result of moving the
rolling cabinet.
Secure the contents of the drawer against slipping.
Carefully push the rolling cabinet.
Always make sure that the drawer is closed before moving the rolling cabinet.
NOTICE! Damage from knocking against or moving the device during
operation.
If the rotor bangs against the rotor chamber wall, it will cause considerable
damage to the device and rotor.
Do not move or knock against the device during operation.

WARNING! Electric shock due to damage to device or mains cable.
Only switch on the device if the device and mains cable are undamaged.
Only use devices that have been properly installed or repaired.
In case of danger, disconnect the device from the mains supply by pulling the
power plug from the device or the mains socket or, by using the isolating
device intended for this purpose (e.g. emergency stop switch in the
laboratory).
WARNING! Lethal voltages inside the device.
Ensure that the housing is always closed and undamaged so that no parts
inside the device can be contacted by accident.
Do not remove the housing of the device.
Do not allow any liquids to penetrate the inside of the housing.
Do not allow the device to be opened by anyone except service personnel who
have been specifically authorized by Eppendorf.
WARNING! Risk from incorrect supply voltage
Only connect the device to voltage sources which correspond to the electrical
requirements on the name plate.
Only use sockets with a protective earth (PE) conductor and suitable power
cable.

NOTICE! Damage to electronic components due to condensation.
After the rolling cabinet has been moved from a cool to a warmer environment,
condensation may form inside the cabinet.
Wait at least 1 h hours before connecting the rolling cabinet to the power
supply.
NOTICE! Damage to device due to spilled liquids.
1. Switch the device off.
2. Disconnect the device from the power supply.
3. Carefully clean the device and the accessories in accordance with the
cleaning and disinfection instructions in the operating manual.
4. If a different cleaning and disinfecting method is to be used, contact
Eppendorf AG to ensure that the intended method will not damage the device.

4Installation
4.1Selecting the location
Select the rolling cabinet location according to the following criteria:
• Sturdy, level base at the location
• Distance to adjacent devices and walls: at least 30 cm
• Observe the location and positioning instructions in the centrifuge operating manual.
• Only rolling cabinet with transformer: mains power connection (100 V) according to
name plate. The name plate is located on the rear side of the rolling cabinet.
4.2Preparing installation
• The weight of the rolling cabinet is 40.0 kg (88.2 lb).
The weight of the rolling cabinet with transformer is 60.0 kg (132.3 lb).
• At least 2 people are required to unpack and position the rolling cabinet.
• When unpacking, grab the rolling cabinet from below. Do not use the drawer
handle as a carrying handle.
Perform the following steps in the sequence described.
1. Remove the accessories.
2. Remove the cover sheets and top transport protection pads.
3. Remove the packaging foil.
4. Grab the rolling cabinet with your hands from below. Lift the rolling cabinet out of the
packaging board and place it on the ground.
5. Only rolling cabinet with transformer: Allow the rolling cabinet to warm up to
ambient temperature (at least 1 h) before connecting it to the mains power supply.
The adhesive film on the upper side of the rolling cabinet may not be removed
yet. First mount the foot holders (see Mounting the foot holders on p. 15).

4.3Installing the rolling cabinet
Required tool and accessories
• Allen key

• Foot holders which match the centrifuge

8 foot holders are delivered with the rolling cabinet.
• 4 foot holders, 48 mm in diameter for Centrifuge 5804
• 4 foot holders, 59 mm in diameter for Centrifuge 5810, 5810 R, 5804 R
4 foot holders must be bolted to the rolling cabinet to ensure the centrifuge is
securely positioned on the rolling cabinet. The centrifuge device feet must be
centered in the foot holders.
• The foot holders must be positioned according to the centrifuge used. 16 boreholes are
located on the upper side of the rolling cabinet. The boreholes are labeled according to
the centrifuge type (5810, 5810 R, 5804, 5804 R).
• Boreholes which are not in use must be sealed to protect them from corrosion.

4.3.1Mounting the foot holders
CAUTION! Risk of injury due to non-mounted foot holders or incorrect
positioning of foot holders.
The centrifuge may slip off the rolling cabinet if the centrifuge device feet are
not in the foot holders.
Use the foot holders that match the centrifuge type.
Ensure that the boreholes match the centrifuge type.
Center the centrifuge device feet in the foot holders.
NOTICE! Damage due to penetrating liquid.
Penetrating liquid can cause corrosion damage on the rolling cabinet and the
contents of the drawer.
Seal the non-required boreholes on the upper side of the rolling cabinet.
The centrifuge type can be found to the left front side of the centrifuge or in the
display after the centrifuge has been switched on.
Seal the non-required boreholes before bolting down the foot holders.
Proceed as follows to mount the foot holders and seal the non-required boreholes:
1. Secure the castors with wheel stops.
2. Check which boreholes match the centrifuge.
3. Insert plastic plugs in the non-required boreholes
The plastic plugs must be flush with the surface of the rolling cabinet.

4. Position the foot holders on the
boreholes.
5. Use the Allen key supplied to bolt down the foot holders in a clockwise direction.

6. Remove the adhesive film.
4.3.2Installing the centrifuge on the rolling cabinet
Prerequisites
• The wheel stops are used to secure the castors and prevent the unit form rolling away.
• The foot holders are mounted on the upper side of the rolling cabinet (see p. 15).
CAUTION! Risk of crushing when installing the centrifuge on the rolling
cabinet.
When positioning the device feet into the foot holders there is a risk of crushing
your fingers.
Place the centrifuge on the rolling cabinet.
Check that the centrifuge is positioned correctly.
Lift the centrifuge with the assistance of a second person and check the
position.
Do not try to feel for the correct position of the centrifuge.
Position the centrifuge with at least 2 persons in several steps:
1. Lift the centrifuge on both sides in the area close to the device feet and place it on the
rolling cabinet.
2. Check that the centrifuge is positioned correctly.
3. Lift the centrifuge with the assistance of a second person and carefully realign it.
4. Only Centrifuge 5804 R, 5810 R: Insert the condensation water tray into the designated
holder.

4.3.3Connecting the centrifuge (rolling cabinet with transformer)
1. Connect the centrifuge and the rolling cabinet with the connecting cable (see Main illustration on p. 7).
The connecting cable is part of the centrifuge delivery package.
2. Connect the rolling cabinet to the mains power supply with the mains cable supplied.
3. Switch on the rolling cabinet using the mains power switch located on the right side of
the rolling cabinet.
Rolling cabinet without electronic components: The centrifuge is connected directly to the
mains power supply. Please observe the centrifuge operating manual.

uneven surfaces.
The centrifuge can slip off the rolling cabinet when it is moved over uneven
surfaces, slopes or obstacles.
Only move the rolling cabinet over level surfaces.
Remove the centrifuge rotor prior to transport.
For transport over long distances or outdoors, transport the centrifuge and
rolling cabinet separately using transport aids.
The rolling cabinet is used as a permanent location for a centrifuge and for transporting
the centrifuge, e.g., to other rooms.
Always make sure that the castors are secure and the drawer is closed before the start
of centrifugation.
Do not move or bump the rolling cabinet during centrifugation.
Do not open the drawer during centrifugation.

6Maintenance
6.1Cleaning and disinfection
DANGER! Electric shock as a result of penetration of liquid.
Switch off the device and disconnect the power plug before starting cleaning
or disinfection work.
Do not allow any liquids to penetrate the inside of the housing.
Do not spray clean/spray disinfect the housing.
Only plug the device back in if it is completely dry, both inside and outside.
NOTICE! Damage from the use of aggressive chemicals.
Do not use any aggressive chemicals on the device or its accessories, such as
strong and weak bases, strong acids, acetone, formaldehyde, halogenated
hydrocarbons or phenol.
If the device has been contaminated by aggressive chemicals, clean it
immediately using a mild cleaning agent.
NOTICE! Corrosion due to aggressive cleaning agents and disinfectants.
Do not use corrosive cleaning agents, aggressive solvents or abrasive
polishes.
Do not incubate the accessories in aggressive cleaning agents or disinfectants
for longer periods.

NOTICE! Damage from UV and other high-energy radiation.
Do not use UV, beta, gamma, or any other high-energy radiation for
disinfecting.
Avoid storage in areas with strong UV radiation
Clean the accessible surfaces of the rolling cabinet at least once a week or if they
become significantly soiled.
Only rolling cabinets with transformer: Before cleaning/disinfecting, switch off the
rolling cabinet using the mains power switch and pull the power plug.
Cleaning: Use mild cleaning agent.
Disinfection: Use alcohol (ethanol, isopropanol) or alcohol-containing disinfectants.
Wipe the accessible surfaces of the rolling cabinet, accessories and power cable using
a damp cloth.
Thoroughly rinse the non-slip mat after cleaning/disinfection.
Allow the rolling cabinet and accessories to dry thoroughly.
Check the rolling cabinet for damage and corrosion damage.
