Supplement Installation Manual

Connecting a computer to a NIRMaster™ with no embedded PC and finalizing installation.

To initialize a NIRMaster™ and connect to a computer the basic steps are as follows:

u Connect the instrument to the computer using the ethernet cable supplied.

u Connect the mains cable to the instrument.

u Undo the transportation lock.

u Switch on the instrument, by holding in the power switch on the left hand side.

u Start the computer and install the NIRWare software.

u Set up the network settings to allow communication between computer and NIRMaster™.

u Operate the NIRMaster™ as normal.

Connect the NIRMaster™ to the PC using the supplied ethernet cable

u Remove the cover from the top of the Instrument with

the key provided. (Two fixings on the left hand side,

two fixings on the right hand side)

u Route the ethernet cable through the cable gland in the lower chassis.

u Connect the cable to the ethernet socket on the rear

of the cream colored optical bench.

Connect the mains cable.

ü The cover is removed.

u Route the mains cable through the cable gland in the lower chassis.

u Connect the cable to the main socket at mounted on

the rear of the instrument lower chassis.

Undo the transportation lock

ü The cover is removed.

u Locate the interferometer transport locking mechanism (note the position of

the red painted screw).

u Rotate the lower part of the mechanism clockwise until it locks into the un-

locked position (note the position of the red painted screw).

u Reinstall the instrument cover and secure fixings.

Install the BUCHI NIRWare software on the computer

Install BUCHI NIRWare software suite following the instruction in Chapter 4 “Software Installation” of the NIRWare

Quick Guide.

Note!

Activate the relevant licences for software and any pre-calibrations that are required.

Setting up the network connection between computer and NIRMaster™

In this step the communication connection between the NIRMaster™ and computer is set up.

u Start the computer, and open the dialog box Ethernet Properties.

u Highlight the option [Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)] from the

list.

u Click the button [Properties].

ð The dialog box Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) open.

u Activate the radio button next to [Use the following IP address].

u Enter the following values.

•IP address: 192.168.1.2

•Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

u Click the button [OK].

ð The dialog box Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) close.

u Click the button [OK].

ð The dialog box Ethernet Properties close.

The network settings are now correctly set up so communication between the NIRMaster™ and computer is possible.

Start NIRWare operator software and verify that the Computer is correctly connected to the NIRMaster™.
