Troubleshooting General - 1

General

The Symptom Charts included in this chapter will help you diagnose specific symptoms related to your product. Because cures are listed on the charts in the order of most likely solution, try the first cure first. Verify whether or not the product continues to exhibit the symptom. If the symptom persists, try the next cure. (Note: If you have replaced a module, reinstall the original module before you proceed to the next cure.)
If you are not sure what the problem is, or if the Symptom Charts do not resolve the problem, refer to the Flowchart for the product family.

No raster, LED off 1 Check power cord connection.

Screen flickers 1 Check that distortion is not due to environmental conditions.

any key to reactivate monitor. 3 Return monitor to Apple.
Move monitor. 2 Move monitors at least 16 inches apart if using more than

Miscellaneous

Indicator light goes out before adjustments are finished
No sound from the computer
Do not pause for more than 10 seconds while adjusting controls. If you pause for 10 seconds, monitor assumes you are finished.
1 Disconnect sound output cable or headphones from sound
output port. 2 Replace sound cable. 3 Return monitor to Apple.

Note:
Monitor controls are set at the factory. You can fine-tune the picture and make adjustments by using the front panel controls. The monitor will use your settings at each power on. (See “Factory Settings” in this chapter to recall factory settings).

Note:
Zooming adjusts the picture so that it fills the entire screen. The process removes any black borders around the picture.

No preliminary steps are required before you begin this procedure.
Note:
The controls for the monitor are set at the factory. You can fine-tune the picture and make adjustments to the settings using the front panel controls. The monitor will use your settings each time the computer is turned on.

Replacing Factory Settings

Note:
After changing the settings of the monitor, you can permanently replace the original factory settings with your own.
1 Set the controls on the
monitor to the desired

straightened paperclip into the opening to the left of the zoom button. The new settings are now

stored permanently in the monitor’s memory.
Important:
factory settings are now permanently replaced with the current settings. You cannot recall the original factory settings. Pressing the recall button only restores the last settings you stored.
