It is most important that this instruction book is retained with the appliance for future

owner to be acquaint ed with the functioning of the ap pliance and the relevant w arnings.

BEFORE INSTALLATION
This appliance is heavy and care
must be taken when m oving it.
Ensure that all pac kaging, both
inside and outside the a ppliance has
been removed bef ore the appliance
is used.
If the appliance is to be placed on a
base, measures mus t be taken to
prevent the applianc e slipping from
the base.
Do not try to lift or move the
appliance by pulli ng the door
handles.
The electrical ins tallation work must
be undertaken by a qu alified
electrician/competent person.
It is dangerous to alter or modify the
specifications of the appliance in a ny
way.
Do not use the appliance if the
ceramic glass is damaged. If a fault
or crack becom es visible during
cooking, disconnect t he appliance
immediately from the electricit y
supply and contact your local Ser vice
Force Centre.
Do not place foil or plastic containers
on ceramic glass.
Do not allow young chil dren to pla y
with any part of the pac kaging.
After installation, please dispose of
the packaging with due regard to
safety and the environm ent, your
local authority ca n arrange this.
DURING OPERATION
Do not use this appliance if it is in
contact with water. Never operate it
with wet hands.
This appliance is designed to b e
operated by adults. Young chil dren
must not be allowed to tamper with
the appliance or pla y with the
controls.
During use the appli ance becom es
Hot. Care should be taken to avoi d
touching the heatin g elements insi de
the oven.
CAUTION: Accessible parts may
be hot when the grill is in use.
Young children should be kept
away.
Take great care when heating fats
and oils, as they will ignite if they
become too hot.
This appliance has b een designed f or
cooking edible foods tuffs only, and
must not be used for any other
purposes.
Never place plastic or any other
material which m ay melt in the oven
or on the hob.
Ensure cooking u tensils are large
enough to contain foods to pr event
spillages and bo il overs.
The handles of saucep ans which are
smaller than the heat ed area on the
hob will become hot. Ensu re your
hand is protected bef ore handling t he
pan.

Take care to follow the
recommendations gi ven for ten ding
the food when grilling.
Ensure that you support the grill pan
when it is in the withdrawn or partially
withdrawn position.
Ensure that all ve nts are left
unobstructed to ensure v entilation of
the oven cav ity.
Ensure th e anti-tilt shelves are put in
place correctly. Ref er to instruc tions
on pages 18 and 20.
Never line any part of th e appliance
with foil. Do not allow hea tproof
cooking materials e.g . roasting ba gs,
to come into contact with oven
elements.
Alw ays stand back from the
appliance when opening the o ven
door to allow any build up of steam or
heat to release.
Never leave the appliance
unattended when the oven doors
are open.
Do not place sealed cans or
aerosols inside the ove n. They ma y
explode if they are heated.
Do not leave the hotplates switched
ON for long periods when not
covered by a saucepa n. The controls
may overheat.
AFTER USE
Ensure that all co ntrol knobs are in
the OFF position when not in use.
For hygiene and saf ety reasons
this appliance should be kept
clean at all times. A build-up of
fats or other foodstuffs could
result in a fire, especi ally in the
grill pan.
Do not leave utensils containi ng
foodstuffs, e.g. fat or o il in or on the
appliance in case it is inadverte ntly
switched on.
Cookers and hobs becom e very hot ,
and retain their heat for a long period
of time after use. Children shou ld be
kept well away fr om the applia nce
until it has cooled.
GENERAL
Under no circumstances should
any repairs be carried out by an
inexperienced per son as this m ay
cause injury or seri ous malfunction.
This appliance s hould be serviced by
an authorised ser vice Engineer an d
only genuine-approv ed spare parts
should be used. Details of repair and
servicing arrangem ents are suppl ied
on page 30 of this bo ok.
Do not stand on the applianc e or on
the open oven doors.
Do not hang towels, dishcloths or
clothes from the app liance or its
handle. They are a s afety hazard.
Alw ays allow the cooling fan to co ol
the appliance down bef ore switching
off at the wall prior to carrying out
any cleaning or maint enance work.
Only clean this appl iance in
accordance with the instruct ions
given in this book.
Extreme ca re must be tak en when
using a ceramic hob s craper.
Your safety is of paramount importance.

WARNING: THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED
RATING PLA TE
This is situated on th e front frame of the applianc e
and can be seen upon openin g the door.
Alternatively the r ating plate m ay also be found on
the back or top of s ome models (where ap plicable).
The appliance m ust be protected by a s uitably rated
fuse or circuit breaker. T he rating of the applia nce is
given on the rating p late.
Do not remove the rating plate from the appliance
as this may invalidate t he guarantee.
INSTALLATION
If your appliance has been damaged in transit,
contact your supplier immediatel y. DO NOT attempt
to install it.
Your appliance left the factor y fully packaged to
protect it from damage. If it is delivered without
packaging and damage has occurred, the
manufacturer c annot accept responsi bility. Contac t
your supplier for ad vice.
Once the packaging has been r emoved the app liance
should only be moved b y hand. DO NOT use a sack
barrow or any other a id to lift the appliance as
damage may occur.
Connection to the electricit y supply must be carried
out by a qualified electrician/com petent person.
The electrical conn ection should be m ade using a
double pole isolati ng switch (cook er socket) with at
least 3mm contact s eparation in all poles. The cab le
must have conductors of sufficiently high c ross-
sectional area to pre vent overheating and
deterioration.
The recommended cross -section area is six square
millimetres (6.00mm
2
).
The cable must be r outed away from potentially hot
areas marked b y X in the diagram belo w.
To move the appliance, open the main o ven door,
and lift the applianc e by holding i nside the top of the
compartment.
This is a type Y appliance whic h means it is f ree-
standing and can be fitte d with cabinets on one or
both sides. It ma y also be fitted in a cor ner setting.
Ensure that the appliance is stan ding level.
Side walls which ar e above hob le vel should be
protected by heat resist ant non-combustibl e material
and MUST NOT be nearer than 40mm to the hob
side.
A nominal air gap of 2mm all around the appl iance is
required to enable t he appliance to be move d into
position.
Always ensure an a ir gap is mainta ined at ho tplate
level. Tiles or other form s of deep wall cov ering
should not obscure this gap.

Note: Vapours from the oven vents may in time
cause discoloura tion of wallcover ings behind the
appliance. For eas e of cleaning it m ay be preferab le
to tile behind the ap pliance.
Overhanging surfac es or a cooker hood should b e a
minimum of 685mm above the hob.
It is important to ens ure that the appliance is level
after installation. Levelli ng feet are fitted to the
appliance to accom modate uneven f loors.
GENERAL NOTES ON USING YOUR
APPLIANCE
We suggest that you run the oven elem ents for 10 –
15 minutes at 220
o
C to burn off any resi due from
their surfaces.
The procedure shoul d be repeated with the grill for
approximately 5 – 1 0 minutes.
During this period an odour may be em itted, it is
therefore advisable to open a window for ventilation.
ABOUT CONDENSATION AND STEAM
When food is heated it produc es steam s imilar to a
boiling kettle. T he oven is vented to allow s ome of
this steam to escape. Howe ver, always stand b ack
from the appliance when openin g the oven door to
allow any build up of steam or heat to r elease.
If the steam comes into contact with a cool surfac e
on the outside of the app liance, e.g. a trim , it will
condense and produce water dr oplets. This is q uite
normal and is not ca used by a fault on the appliance.
To prevent discoloura tion, regularl y wipe away
condensation and also soilage from surfaces.
For your safety wallcoverings at the rear of the
appliance should be securely fixed t o the wall.
THE COOLING FAN FOR THE CONTROLS
The cooling fan operat es immediatel y when the gri ll
or top oven is switched o n. It may run on af ter the
controls are switche d off until the appliance has
cooled. If an autom atic programm e has been set the
cooling fan does not switch on un til the cooktim e
begins.
Note: The action of the cool ing fan wi ll depend on
how long the top oven or gril l have been used a nd at
what temperature. It m ay not run on wher e the grill
or top oven has been used for a short tim e or at low
temperatures.
Do not switch the appliance off at its power po int
until the cooling fan has cooled the applianc e down.
CONTROL PANEL INDICATOR NEONS
These lights indic ate whether the gr ill or ovens ar e
switched on.
The neons also indicate when the set t emperature
has been reached. T hey will turn on an d off during
use to show that the t emperature is b eing
maintained.
If the neons do not operate as the instructions
indicate the contro ls have been incor rectly set.
Return all controls to zer o and re-set fol lowing the
instructions for the required settin g.
When the oven has been set for automatic cook ing
the neon will rem ain unlit until the cooktim e begins.
COOKWARE
Baking trays, oven dishes etc., should not be p laced
directly against the gr id covering the f an at the back
of the oven.
Do not use baking trays larger t han 30cm x 35cm
(12” x 14”) as the y will restrict the circulation of heat
and may affect perf ormance
.
