Installation When Using NetWare
Installation Overview
The machine supports a PServer mode both for the NetWare Directory Service and
Bindery Service. The PServer mode enables the machine to function as a print server
and to capture print jobs in the print queue to output. The printer created for the
machine consumes one file server license.
Note• The machine does not support a Remote Printer (RPrinter) mode.
• You can use the machine as a printer in a NDPS environment by using a Novell NDPS
Gateway. When using in a NDPS environment, settings of the machine to be used under a
NetWare print environment are required. Or, you need to enable LPD in advance and set it
as a gateway destination in a Novell NDPS Gateway setup. However, attribute information
that can be se t or captured by NDPS is not supported.

Encrypting HTTP Communication
The communication data between the machine and computers on a network can be
encrypted when using HTTP.
The SOAP port, Internet service (HTTP) port, IPP port, and WebDAV port use HTTP.
The SSL and TLS protocols are used to encrypt the communicati on dat a. Also,
certificates for SSL and TLS are used to decrypt the data.
The certif icates fo r SSL and T LS can be cr eated by CentreWar e Intern et Service s. The
certificate is valid for a year. Also, an existing certificate can be imported into the
machine.
Important•When performing SSL communication using the se lf-certificate generated by the machine, or
the certificate with w hich the ch aracter co de is indica ted by UTF- 8, the foll owing pheno mena
occur.
• If Internet Explorer is used with Windows 98E or earlier, the issuer/issuing place of the
certificate will not be displayed correctly.
• SSL connection will not be made if Internet Explorer is used with Mac OS X 10.2. This is
because the operating system cannot recognize the character code (UFT-8) of the
certificate. Use Netscape7 in the pre ceding OS environment.
Note• By enciphering HTTP communi cation , comm unica tion da ta ca n be enc ipher ed at the time of
printing (SSL encrypted communication). For information how to encrypt, refer to the
CentreWare Internet Services online help.
