6. Preparations
a) Power ON/OFF
Press this key to activate the device. Pull the ON/HOLD trigger to execute a measurement and read the result on the LCD. The meter is deactivated automatically ±7 seconds after the ON/HOLD trigger is released.
b) Selecting the Temperature Unit
Press ON/HOLD, followed by the °C or °F key. The selected unit is displayed on the LCD. Press the same key again to switch units.
c) Data-Hold Function
This device automatically memorises the last temperature reading on the LCD for 7 seconds after the ON/HOLD key is released. No additional keys should be pressed to freeze the displayed reading.
d) Backlight
Press ON/HOLD, followed by the backlight key. Press the button again to turn the backlight off.

e) Laser Pointer
Hold the ON/HOLD key and press the LASER key. Press the button again to turn the laser off.
7. Operating Instructions
Hold the meter by its handle and point the IR sensor at the object whose temperature you wish to measure. The meter automatically compensates for temperature deviations from ambient temperature. Keep in mind that it will take up to 30 minutes for the device to adjust if you go from measuring very cold temperatures to measuring extremely hot ones. In this case, several minutes will pass before the first measurements are even made. This is due to the fact that the IR sensor must cool down before you can resume your measurements.
8. Battery Replacement
The low-battery indicator will appear in the lower left-hand corner of the LCD display when the battery is running low and needs to be replaced. Open the battery compartment, remove the old battery, replace it with a new one and close the battery compartment.
9. Practical Tips
Infrared thermometers measure an object’s surface temperature. The optical part of the device gathers data on
the target object through the IR sensor. The electronics translate the information into a temperature reading that is displayed on the LCD. The laser is used for aiming purposes only.
Make sure that the target is larger than the diameter of the beam. The smaller the target object, the closer you
should be to it. The target should be at least twice as large as the beam if accuracy is critical.
The size of the area measured by the beam becomes larger as your distance to the target object increases.
Avoid temperature measurements on shiny or polished metal surfaces. The beam might reflect into your eyes.
The device cannot measure through transparent surfaces such as glass. It will measure the surface temperature
of the glass instead.
Steam, smoke, etc… can cause inaccurate readings by interfering with the optics.
90% of all organic materials and painted or oxidised surfaces have an emissivity of 0.95 (factory setting in this
device). Shiny or polished surfaces will generate inaccurate readings. Cover the surface in question with black paint or masking tape to compensate for the measurement error. Allow some time for the tape to reach the same temperature as the material underneath.
