Rav4 Hybrid (AXAH52/54)
Subject: Front Lower Suspension Arms –
Safety Related Recall Campaign
BACKGROUND
Toyota has determined that a requirement exists for the initiation of a Safety Recall
Campaign to be conducted in accordance with FCAI code of practice for safety related
recall campaigns affecting a range of Toyota Rav4 models in relation to front lower
suspension arms.
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION
The front lower suspension arms, which connect to the front wheels, of involved vehicles
may have been affected by improper production conditions. As a result, small cracks may
form on some portions of the surface of the front lower suspension arms.
If the vehicle is frequently operated with rapid acceleration and deceleration, over its
lifetime these small cracks may propagate, and the front lower suspension arm may
eventually separate from the front wheel assembly. This may result in loss of vehicle
suspension and increase the risk of a crash.
