CB100 Reloading Scale Quick User Guide

1.1 Quick Start

Follow the steps in this page for a quick start to using the CB100 Reloading Scale. Detailed instructions are on the following pages.
1. Plug power adapter into wall outlet and connect other end to the scale or, attach a 9v battery inside the battery compartment and replace battery cover.

We recommend the scale be calibrated upon first use and if it has been unused for a long period of time. See Calibration
on page 6.
6. Press the TARE key to zero the display, if necessary.
7. Press the UNIT key to select a unit of measure. Abbreviation for current unit appears above weight display.
8. Place item to be weighed on the weighing pan.
Weight is displayed.
9. Remove item.
10. Repeat steps 6 - 9.

1.2 Complete Weighing Instructions

1. Remove the battery compartment door from the bottom of the scale and attach and insert a 9v battery and replace the door. Or, plug the power adapter into an appropriate outlet and plug the connector into the receptacle on the left rear corner of the CB100.
2. Gently place the weighing pan in the receiver hole.
CAUTION: To prevent damage to the scale, do not physically press on the platform or exceed the rated capacity of the scale.
3. Use the bubble level and screw out feet to level the scale. Place the scale on a stable, flat surface free of drafts.
4. Turn the transport locking screw counter-clockwise 4-5 full turns before weighing. To prevent damage to the loadcell when moving the scale, turn this locking screw clockwise until snug. See illustration below.

5. Press the ON/OFF key to power up the scale…
After a self-test, the scale will display weight in the current unit of measure. The scale is ready to weigh. See the note below before continuing. A blinking unit of measure label means the weight is not stable. If CAL-? appears on the screen and ? is flashing, recalibrate the scale. See the Calibration section.
IMPORTANT: Allow 2 to 3 minutes for the scale electronics to warm up before proceeding otherwise inaccuracies may occur.
6. Press the UNIT key to change the unit of measure. The unit icon appears above the weight display. Choices are: g (grams), gn (grain), ozt (troy ounces), oz (ounce), dwt (pennyweight), and ct (carat).
7. Press the TARE key to zero the scale. The scale has a zero-tracking function. The minimum weighing value is 0.01g. Values below this are automatically zeroed.
8. To power down the scale press the ON/OFF key.
1.2.1 Weighing
1. Power up the CB100.
2. Press the TARE key to zero the scale, if necessary.
3. Place the item to be weighed on the weighing platform. DO NOT EXCEED THE CAPACITY OF THE SCALE.
The weight is displayed in the chosen unit of measure.
4. Remove the item form the weighing platform.
5. Repeat steps 2 - 4.

1.2.2 Tare Weighing
To weigh the contents of a container you must first tare the weight of the container. Follow these steps to do a tare weighment.
1. Power up the CB100.
2. Place the container on the weighing pan.
3. Press the TARE key…
The weight of the container is removed and 0.00 weight is displayed.
4. Place the item(s) to be weighed in the container. Do NOT exceed the capacity of the scale.
The net weight of the item is displayed in the chosen unit of measure.
5. Empty the container and place it back on the weighing pan if you want to weigh more items in the container.
6. To remove a tare value and return to gross weighing, empty the weighing pan and press the TARE key.
1.2.3 Parts Counting
1. To count small parts, place a container on the weighing pan and tare the weight as described in the previous section.
2. Press the PCS key…
PC.--- is briefly displayed followed by PC. rd.
3. Press the UNIT key repeatedly and the rd will increment to 10-20-40- 60-80-100-150-200-300-400-500. This is the sample size you will use to set the piece weight for counting. When the sample size you want is displayed, place that many pieces into the container and press the TARE key…
The piece weight is calculated and stored and the count is displayed.
4. You can now place a random number of parts in the container and the display will show the count.

5. Press the PCS key to cancel counting mode and return to normal weighing mode.

1.3 Calibration

Follow these steps to calibrate the scale.
1. With the scale powered up and with no weight on the weighing pan, press and hold the TAR E key until…
CAL-0 is displayed.
2. Press the TARE key again…
The 0 in CAL-0 blinks while the scale reads the zero point. When finished the display shows CAL-F.
3. When CAL-F (F is for full capacity) is displayed, place the two supplied 50g weights in the center of the weighing pan and press the TARE key…
The F in CAL-F flashes while the full capacity reading is stored and then CAL-0 is displayed.
4. Remove the weights and press the TARE key…
The 0 in CAL-0 blinks briefly and then the scale will restart with the new calibration in effect.

1.4 Set the Auto-Off Timer

The scale can be set to turn off after a set amount of time of inactivity. From the factory this setting comes set to OFF. To change this, follow these steps:
1. With the scale powered up, press and hold the PCS key until…
A.oFF.x is shown where x is any number from 0 to 9. The 0 means the timer is turned off and the scale will remain on constantly. You can set the turn on the timer by setting the value to 1 through 9 minutes.

2. Press the PCS key to increment the number. When the timer setting you want is displayed, press the TARE key…
The value stops flashing and the value is stored in memory.
3. Press the ON/OFF key…
The scale restarts and returns to normal weighing mode.

1.5 Error Messages

Following are error messages which may be displayed, their cause and solutions.
