Autolocking carabiner with integral braking

The notchless Keylock System reduces accidental
snagging of the carabiner.
Inspection, points to verify
Before each use, check the frame, the rivet, and the
locking sleeve. Open the gate and verify that it closes
and locks when released, and check for correct
alignment of the gate and Keylock. The Keylock slot
must not be blocked by foreign materials (dirt, pebble,
ice...).

Limitations on use
The FREINO carabiner is personal protective equipment
that should be used only for attaching a descender.
WARNING: the FREINO should be used with the
following Petzl descenders: SIMPLE, STOP, I’D, GRIGRI,
HUIT.

The carabiner must always be used with the gate locked.
The strength of a carabiner is greatly reduced when the
gate is open. The carabiner is strongest when closed
and loaded along its major axis; any other position
reduces its strength. The carabiner mus
move freely and without interference; any external
stress, constraint, or support reduces its strength.

To use the braking spur to improve descent control,
clip the free end of the rope into it and redirect the rope
against the spur as shown.
Be careful to maintain good hand position to the side
to enable proper use. Take care to avoid holding the
rope too close to the FREINO because the rope can
involuntarily slip free from the braking spur.

Equipement de protection individuelle, le FREINO est un
mousqueton pour la fi xation d’un appareil seulement.
ATTENTION, il s’utilise avec les descendeurs Petzl
suivants : SIMPLE, STOP, I’D, GRIGRI, HUIT.

Gebrauchsanleitung
Einsatzbereich
Persönliche Schutzausrüstung. Der FREINO ist ein
Karabiner, der nur zusammen mit einem Abseilgerät
verwendet werden darf.
ACHTUNG: Der FREINO darf mit den PETZLAbseilgeräten SIMPLE, STOP, I’D GRIGRI und HUIT
verwendet werden.

Der Karabiner darf nur mit verriegeltem Schnapper
verwendet werden. Die Festigkeit eines Karabiners ist
bei geöffnetem Schnapper stark vermindert.
Die Bewegungsfreiheit des Karabiners darf nicht
eingeschränkt werden. Jeglicher Druck oder Bela
von außen reduziert seine Festigkeit.
Geschlossen bietet der Karabiner die maximale
Festigkeit in Längsrichtung. Bei Belastung in eine andere
Richtung wird diese Festigkeit vermindert.

Mit dem FREINO ist es möglich, das freie Seilende unter
dem Abseilgerät jederzeit in die Bremslippe einzulegen,
um beim Abseilen eine bessere Kontrolle zu erhalten.
Achten Sie auf die richtige Position der Hand an der
Seite, um eine sichere Verwendung zu gewährleisten.
Halten Sie das Seil nicht zu nah am FREINO, da es sich
versehentlich aus der Bremslippe ausfädeln könnte.

Achten Sie darauf, dass Sie das Abseilgerät
nicht verlieren, wenn Sie den FREINO von der
Materialschlaufe entfernen.
Vermeiden Sie Stösse gegen den Fels.
Achtung, Gefahr ! : Ein Gegenstand aus Metall,
beispielsweise ein Abseilgerät, kann als Hebel auf
den Schnapper des Karabiners wirken. Wenn ein
Karabiner in die falsche Richtung belastet wird, kann
der Verschlussring auch bei sehr geringer Belastung
brechen (z. B das eigene Köpergewicht), wodurch sich
der Schnapper öffnen und aushängen kann.
Vorsichtsmaßnahmen für Arbeit und Rettung
Der Anschlagpunkt des Systems sollte möglichst
oberhalb des Benutzers angebracht sein und den
Anforderungen der Norm EN 795 entsprechen.
