2.1. EXPLANATION OF MANUFACTURER’S PLATE:

The manufacturer’s plate, which is fixed at the console, looks like the following:

The boat was built for the category of design B (Offshore)

Your boat has been certified to be in compliance with the relevant parts of the Recreational Craft Directive 94/25/EC as amended by Directive 2003/44/EC of the European Parliament. The CE mark on your boat means that your boat meets or exceeds applicable ISO (International Standards Organization) standards available at the time of manufacture.

Your rigid boat has been tested in regard to stability, freeboard, buoyancy and flotation according to EN ISO 12217-1 and your inflatable boat according to EN ISO 6185-3 so that, the requirements for the number of persons allowed and the additional loading could be determined.

Category B: Designed for offshore voyages where conditions up to, and including, wind force 8 and significant wave heights up to, and including 4 meters may be experienced.

The significant wave height is the mean height of the highest one-third of the waves, which approximately corresponds to the wave height estimated by an experienced observer. Some waves will be double this height.

For craft with outboard engines, mass of the craft in the light craft (unladen) condition (kg) includes the mass of the heaviest recommended outboard engine, but in some cases (a small rowing or outboard tender for example) the craft may be used with or without the outboard. In these

cases, it would be useful to also know the weight without the outboard motor (perhaps to see if it is light enough to carry on a car roof).

Max. + + = Maximum loading weight

Maximum recommended load includes the weight of all persons onboard, all provisions and personal effects, any equipment not included in the light craft mass, cargo (if any) and all consumable liquids (water, fuel, etc.)

Do not exceed the maximum number of persons. Regardless of the number of persons on board, the total weight of persons and equipment must never exceed the maximum recommended load. Always use the seats/seating spaces provided.

When loading the craft, never exceed the maximum recommended load. Always load the craft carefully and distribute loads appropriately to maintain design trim (approximately level). Avoid placing heavy weights high up.

3. SYSTEMS AND CIRCUITS

3.1. FIRE EXTINGUISHER SYSTEM

Please check the location of fire extinguisher holder.Make sure that you fix an approved fire extinguisher on the holder before using your boat.

Your boat also has fixed fire-extinguisher system located in the engineroom.Please read the instruction manual of fixed fire extinguisher system.

3.2. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

A main cut off switch is provided inside the aft storage by the battery box. This cut-off switch disconnects the battery from the electrical system of your boat.

Two switch panels with fuses are provided on the console for electrical equipment. You can control the navigation lights, pole light, livewell pump (if fitted), shower pump, cabin lighting and the bilge pumps. Since your boat is equipped with two automatic bilge pumps, separate 3 position switches on the console are provided for their operation. When your boat remains in the water, leave bilge pump switches at Auto position for automatic operation.

Before discharging, shut down engines and blowers.

Please check the Skipper’s Manual for general information.

Above is how your electrical switch panels look like. Fuses are found in the fuse holders below the switches. To replace, open the fuse holder with a screwdriver and close after installing a new fuse. Periodically check your fuses and carry spares.

If a fuse consistently blows, please have your electrical circuitry checked by a professional.

NorthStar 230 CDS is equipped with a removable 360° Pole light that satisfies the 1 meter rule of the COLREGS which requires a minimum of 1 meter height difference between the navigation lights and the pole light.

You are not required to keep this light installed during daytime when there is good visibility. At night or when the visibility condition dictates the use of the pole light, simply remove it from its location under the aft center locker and install it in the plug provided on the aft starboard side of the boat. To retain it, tighten the locking collar. When not in use, simply remove it by loosening its collar and stow it under its storage location.

A switch will operate the port/starboard navigation light and must be used in the dark or when the visibility condition dictates while underway. Fuse 15A

A lighter type socket is provided to run extra accessories such as a spotlight or to charge the mobile phone.

Battery acid is corrosive, so you have to protect eyes and skin if you have to work on it. You must rinse splashes of acid with fresh water and consult a doctor immediately. You can neutralize splashes of acid on the skin or on clothes with acid transformer or soapsuds.

If one has drunk acid, please contact your doctor immediately.

Check and top up acid level periodically. Check from time to time if the battery terminals have a tight sit and if there are corrosion patches.
