Text Area
This area displays menus, messages, names,
phone nu mbers, and other inf ormation.
Display Options
Two displ ay options appear at t he bottom of mo st
screens. You select a display option by pressing
the option key below it.
Menus and Lists
Your phone’s features are arranged in menus,
submenus, and lists.
To acces s the items in a menu or list , scroll using
the navigation key at the top of your keypad. This
key lets you scroll up, down, left, or right. Holding
down the appropriate part of the navigation key
speeds up scrolling.
In this guide, this sym bol > tells you to select a
menu or list item. For example, Settings >
Security means:
1 Scroll to Settings on the main menu.
2 Press O to see the Settings screen.
3 Scroll to Security.
4 Press O to see the Security screen.
Quick Access to Main Menu Items
Each arrow in the nav igation key and O can be
used to a ccess a main me nu item from the idle
screen. E ach of these keys is assigned to a main
menu item when your receive your phone. To
assign different main menu items, see “Personalize

Entering Numbers From the Keypad
To enter numbers at the idle screen or any screen
that re qu ires you to en te r num be r s, pr es s th e
numbers on the keypad.
If you make a mistake:
• To clea r a digit, press A under Delete.
• To clea r all digits, press and hold A under
Delete.
• To insert or delete a digit anywhere in the string
of digits you have entered, scroll left or right.
• To cancel, press e.
SIM Ca rd Se curity
Your SIM card stores all your Contacts and
protects your personal information. Since this
information is stored on your SIM card, not in your
phone, you can remove the information by
removing your SIM card.
Note: Except for making emergency calls, your
phone will not func tio n with out the SIM
card.
To preve nt unauth orized use of your phon e, your
SIM card can be protected by a PIN that you enter
each time the phone is powered on. You can
change the PIN or turn off the requirement that it
be entered.
Turning the PIN Requirement On and
Off
When the SIM PIN requirement is off, your phone
can be used without entering a PIN.
Important: When the SIM PIN requirement is off,
the personal data on your SIM is not
protected. Anyone can use your phone
and access your personal data.

Important: If you unsuccessfully enter the PUK
code 10 times, your SIM is permanent ly
blocked and must be replaced. If this
happens, all data is lost. You will get a

automatically lock the keypad if there has been no
activity for a specified tim e.

Security > Keypad Lock.
2 To lock the keypad immediately, select Lock

3 To set a specific time for the keypad to lock if
there ha s been no activi ty , sel ect Auto Lock and
then select a time.
The keypad can be set to lock in 5, 10, 15 or 20
minutes if the key pad is not touched during the
specified time. To turn the auto lock off, repeat
step 3 and select Off.
Antenna
The retr actabl e ante nna on your phone is desig ned
to be extended during calls and is essential to
attain the hearing aid compatibility rating on
applicable models.
To extend the antenna, pull gently on the rounded
tip until the antenna is fully extended and clicks into
position.
When finished with a call, retract the antenna by
pushing gently on the rounded tip until the antenna
clicks into place.
To optimize your phone's performance, extend the
antenna when you make or receive a call, and
avoid t ouching th e antenna with any body part.
Important: Failure to fully extend or retract the
antenna until the antenna clicks into
place causes severely degraded
performance, which may result in
missed calls, dropped calls, or garbled
audio.
