These short instructions are not a substitute for the Operating Instruction booklet supplied with your coffee machine. Please
read the Operating Instruction booklet through before using for the first time and take note of the Warning and Safety instructions as well as the full descriptions on how to use your appliance.

Making coffee
Preparation
Fill the water
^
container.
^ ... will appear in
the display.
Fill the coffee
^
bean container with whole espresso beans only.
^ Pipework and
brew unit are pre-warmed and flushed through.
Select
^
"In Operation".
... followed by:
^
1 cup of coffee
2 cups of coffee
or

Press the required coffee portion button once. See "Setting the portion sizes" in your Instruction Booklet.

Cappuccino
Pre-heat the cup
^
with hot water.
^
Slowly turn the dial anti-clock wise.
Fill a stainless
^
steel jug one third full with cold, semi-skimmed milk.
^ Move the jug in
circles until a thick froth has built up. Then lower the spout deeper into the milk to heat it up.
Do not let the
-
milk boil!
Select steam and
^
as soon as steam appears turn the steam control dial back to 0.
^
Turn the dial back to 0.
Position the steam
^
spout in the jug just below the sur face of the milk.
^
Dispense a por tion of espresso coffee and add the milk.

Hot water for tea
^
Press the hot water button to dispense water. See "Setting the portion sizes" in your Instruction Booklet.
Important maintenance tips
N.B.: To ensure this appliance functions correctly, it is essential to maintain and
clean it as instructed in the operating instructions and in the video supplied with your machine using the cleaning / descaling agents supplied with the machine *.
Failure to do so can result in poor quality coffee, bacterial contamination and in extreme cases can lead to malfunction of the appliance.
Replacements are available to order through your Dealer or the Miele Spare Parts Dept.

Clean all parts by hand. Do not wash in a dishwasher.
Except: The metal grille from the drip tray.
Before use:
It is very important to programme the water hardness
^
level into the machine to prevent limescale building up too quickly. See "Programming the appliance" section on "Setting the water hardness".
Cleaning as required:
^
Read the "Clea ning and care" instructions in the Operating In struction Booklet!
Maintenance after each use:

Using a damp cloth wipe away any dry coffee
-
grounds.
^
Wipe and replace the steam nozzle, then run the rins ing programme.
^
Rinse and wash all accessories.
-
^
Clean the brew unit and steel filters.
^
All pipework is rinsed through to remove coffee grounds.
Wash and dry the following parts daily:
Rinse and dry the brew unit daily
^ Wipe the metal
filters clean.
^
Before pushing the brew unit back in press the part marked PRESS.
^
Do not press the part marked PRESS when pushing it back in.
When prompted follow the instructions in the display!
The waste unit is full
100 portions of coffee
^
can be dispensed before you have to run the descale programme.
^
and must be emp tied of coffee grounds. Otherwise it could overflow.
-
Degrease the brew unit after every 500 cups
^ When prompted the brew unit will
need degreasing using the cleaning tablet supplied. Follow the instruc­tions in your Operating Instruction Booklet.
Lubricate the brew unit after every 500 cups
^
^
Lubricate all moving parts.
Make sure the brew unit is cor rectly set up, as il lustrated. If it is not see "Problem solving".

Lubricate joints a, axle b, run

ners c, sealing ring d.

Clean bolt a and
-
lubricate bolt a and joints b.
When prompted run the Automatic descaling programme (duration: 90 minutes)
Fill the water
^
container with 2 litres of water and dissolve 2 of the descaling tablets supplied in it.
Appears in the display approx. 90 mins later.
Flush out all traces of descaling agent:
^
Empty out containers and place back under the spouts.
^
Your machine is now descaled, rinsed and ready to use again.
^
Let all the water empty out of the machine.
