an important safety feature.
■Plug the power cord in a grounded (earthed) outlet that is easily
accessible at all times.
■Disconnect power from the thin client by unplugging the power cord
from the electrical outlet.
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B

❏AC adapter and power cable
❏This Quick-Start Guide
Setup/Power Up
1. Connect the AC adapter cable to the power port.
2. Plug the power cable into the adapter and connect the other end into a wall
outlet.
CAUTION: When using the AC adapter, make sure the power
Ä
source falls within the system’s compatible range of 100-240 volts
AC. Never use the AC adapter if the voltage falls outside of this
range (watch for this when travelling to other countries).
3. If applicable, connect the LAN cable to the LAN port.
3
4. If applicable, connect one end of the modem cable to the modem port and
connect the other end to a telephone wall socket.
5. Raise the LCD panel.
CAUTION: Do not apply any force, take care to slide the latch (see
Ä
Front View 1) that unlocks it.
6. Briefly press on the power button to power on your system.
Handling the Battery
Review the following before handling the system battery.
CAUTION: Use the battery only in the notebook computer for which
Ä
it is designed. Mixing other notebook batteries, other manufacturer's
batteries, or using a combination of very old and new batteries can
deteriorate battery and equipment performance.
1. Turn off power to the system after use.
2. Clean the battery connectors with a dry cloth if they get dirty.
3. When not in use, store the battery in a cool dry area.
The following symptoms indicate that battery life is nearing an end.
Discard batteries that display these symptoms:
❏Shorter work times
❏Discoloration, warping
❏Hot to the touch
❏Strange odor
Battery Life
Batteries will start to perform less (50% of maximum time reached in a
laboratory environment) with age. Every couple of months you should do a
complete discharge of the battery, followed by an un-interrupted full battery
recharge to ensure reliable battery operation.
Replacing Batteries
A lithium battery in some computers maintains system configuration
information. In the event that the battery fails to maintain system configuration
information, we recommend that you replace the battery. For battery
replacement information, please refer to your local dealer.
4
Battery Disposal
Ultimate disposal of the batteries should be handled according to all national
laws and regulations. Do not place used batteries in your regular waste: the
incineration, landfilling or mixing of batteries with the municipal solid waste
stream is prohibited by law in most countries. Contact your local waste
management officials for other information regarding the environmentally sound
collection, recycling, and disposal of the batteries.
Heat Build-up
The AC adapter and the underside of the computer can become hot after
prolonged use. Sustained physical contact with either should be avoided.
Glass Display
Take care when handling, cleaning, transporting or storing the computer.
Do not:
❏Press against, bend or twist the screen.
❏Close the lid with anything on the keyboard.
❏Transport in a container with a sharp, hard object against the lid.
Any of the above actions may result in damage to the screen.
