AM15 DISHWASHERS
DWT-AM15 DRAIN WATER TEMPERING KIT ML-130138-Z
This kit must be installed by a Hobart Service Technician. The drain water tempering kit reduces the temperature of drain water exiting an AM15 dishwasher by adding cold
water to the drain water. The drain water tempering kit valve opens as the AM15 dishwasher drains and automatically adds cold water to the drain water.
NOTE: To make this a successful installation, the cold water line (45° F to 70° F [ 7° C to 21° C ] ) must be within 3' of the rear of the dishwasher. Recommended water service rough in is 1/2 " trade size pipe (minimal) with shutoff valve and 1/2" MPT connection.
Immediately after unpacking, check for possible shipping damage. If damage is found, save packing material and contact the carrier within 15 days of delivery.

Installation
1. Remove front and side covers, and control door.

2. Install thermostat on component panel.
3. Route capillary tube through braided hose grommet.
NOTE: Use preferred type of pipe sealant on all threaded plumbing connections.
1. Screw 1-1/2" CPVC tee to drain. NOTE: Make sure tee is oriented so that it has easy
access to the cold water inlet and a floor drain. Do not face towards a leg or wall.
2. Attach brass adapter and nipple to CPVC tee.
Plumbing Connection
The plumber who connects this machine is responsible for making certain the water lines are thoroughly flushed out before connecting to any manual valve or solenoid valve. This "flush-out" is necessary to remove all foreign matter such as: chips (resulting from cutting or threading of pipes), pipe joint compound from the lines, or if soldered fittings are used, bits of solder or cuttings from the tubing.
3. Attach 1/2" union, backflow preventer, solenoid valve, and line strainer to the nipple.
NOTE: Line strainer and backflow preventer should face downward.
4. Attach 1-1/2" male adapter, 6" CPVC pipe, wye, and remaining 1-1/2" CPVC piping as needed to reach a drain.
Debris, if not removed, may lodge in the valves and render them inoperative. Manual valves or solenoid valves fouled by foreign matter and any expenses resulting from this fouling are NOT the responsibility of the manufacturer.
Remove any existing drain plumbing before installing drain water tempering kit.

5. Install thermostat bulb and bushings into wye. Make sure that bulb is seated to bottom of drain pipe.
6. Route capillary tube around to back of machine so that it will not be pinched when side cover is reinstalled.
7. Carefully coil and wire-tie any excess thermostat capillary tubing and place in a convenient location where it will not be damaged.
2. Connect wire from thermostat to 120V transformer.
3. Wire tie as needed.
Electrical Connections
1. Attach cold water valve cable assembly with strain relief to transformer common, thermostat, and ground to base plate.
4. Attach F44123 label in a visible place behind the side cover.
5. Reinstall covers and control door after all electrical connections are made.
Operation
1. When drain water temperature of dishwasher exceeds thermostat setting of 120°F(49°C), the cold water valve is energized.
2. Make sure cold water supply line valve is open.
3. Check for and correct any plumbing leaks.
4. Check unit for proper operation of drain water tempering kit. Drain water, after tempering, should be no higher than 140°F.
