Symptom: Regarding subject models, the HOP-1200R has changed again to
HOP-1200RN due to discontinuation of the production of the Optical Pick-up.
Solution: The replac ement procedure is div ided into the following two
patterns when the HOP-1000 or HOP-1200R is replaced with HOP-1200RN. When replacing the HOP-1000 with HOP-1200RN. (HOP-1000 HOP-1200RN)
The procedure to replace the HOP-1000 with the HOP-1200RN is the same as the procedure described in the OST-741, except the version of the ROM and the TRAVERSE MECHA Unit. Therefore, please refer to the OST-741 for details.
1) Outline of the procedure to replace the HOP-1000 with HOP-1200RN: (1) Removing the DVD Mecha Unit from the unit (2) Replacement of DRV ROM, resistors, capacitor and TRAV/UNIT (3) Assemble the DVD Mecha Unit (4) Confirmation of the version and the actual operation.
Note: In the case of the DVD-1000, the DRV ROM can not be rewritten by means of CD-R or CD-RW.
2) Details of the procedures to replace the HOP-1000 with HOP-1200RN: (1) Removing the DVD MECHA Unit from the main unit: DVD-1000 and DVD­F100: Refer to pages 8 to 10 in the Service Manual (X-0086), and remove the MECHA Unit from the main unit.

(2) Replacement of the following TRAVERSE MECHA, DRV ROM, six chip type resistors and capacitor. (The following "Ref. No." shows the reference number in the circuit diagram.)
• All the six chip type components have been attached on the bottom surface of the P. W. Board. The DRV ROM has been attached on the parts side of the P. W. Board.
To identify new Optical Pick-up. In the case of the new Optical Pick-up, letters "RN" have been attached to the Serial Number Seal section on the rear side of the Pick-up. (There is no mark on the HOP-1000.)
(3) Install the DVD Mecha Unit on the main unit: DVD-1000: Refer to pages 8 to 10 in the Service Manual (X-00086), and install the DVD Mecha Unit on the main unit in the counter procedures of the item # (1).
(4) Confirmation of the Version and the Actual Operation: After confirming the following version of the DRV ROM, reproduce DVD and CD available at your place and confirm that the unit is capable of playing back discs properly.
• Confirmation of the Actual Operation: Reproduce DVD (SINGLE-TDV520, etc., and DUAL-TDV540, etc.) and CD available at your place, and confirm that the unit is capable of playing back those discs properly.
