SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock and/or personal injury. 1 Read all instructions carefully and retain for future reference. 2 Remove all packaging. 3 Make sure your electricity supply is the same as the one shown on the underside of your kettle. 4 Always use the filter and never overfill - boiling water may splash out. 5 Avoid contact with steam coming out of the spout area when pouring and out of the lid or spout
area when refilling. 6 Beware: the metal body of the kettle will get hot during operation. 7 Caution: Do not operate the kettle on an inclined surface. 8 Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surface. 9 Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or
taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance. 10 To protect against fire, electric shock and injury to persons do not immerse the appliance, cord,
plugs, or powerbase in water or other liquid. 11 Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions,
or has been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest authorized service facility
for examination, repair or adjustment. 12 Only use the powerbase supplied and keep it clean and dry. 13 Make sure the lid is secure before switching the kettle on. 14 Take care when opening the lid - droplets of hot water may be ejected. 15 Make sure the kettle is switched off before lifting or pouring. 16 Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the heating cycles. 17 Remove the kettle from the base before filling or pouring. 18 Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven. 19 Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs. 20 The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in
fire, electric shock or injury to persons. 21 Do not use outdoors. 22 To disconnect, turn any control to ”off”, then remove plug from wall outlet. 23 This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sen-
sory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given
supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their
safety. 24 Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. 25 This kettle is for boiling water only. 26 Only use the appliance for its intended domestic use. DeLonghi will not accept any liability if the
appliance is subject to improper use, or failure to comply with these instructions.
Before using for the first time
27 Wrap any excess cord around the bracket on the underside of the powerbase (8). 28 Fill to ‘MAX’, boil, then pour the water away. Repeat 2 to 3 times.

SHORT CORD INSTRUCTIONS
A short power cord is provided to reduce the risk resulting from entanglement or tripping over a longer cord. Extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use. If a extension cord is used (1) the marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance, and (2) the longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or table top where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over unintentionally. The electrical rating of the appliance is listed on the bottom of the unit. The appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a grounded type 3 wire cord.

TO USE YOUR KETTLE
1 Fill the kettle through either the spout or lid. To open the lid, pull back
the lid release catch (2) (Fig.1).
- The water level must be between ‘MAX’ and ‘MIN’.
- Be economical: do not boil more water than you need.
- To improve the quality of your drinks always use fresh water.
- Empty the kettle after each use. 2 Check the lid is closed. Close the lid making sure the lid release catch
is locked.
3 Plug in and
- either, push the “on/off/KEEP WARM” switch down (Fig.2) to reach 212°F (100°C), the
indicator light will come on and the inside of the kettle will illuminate
through a color sequence.
Your kettle will boil and switch off automatically at 212°F (100°C).
To re-boil, wait a few seconds - the on/off switch needs time to
reset.
- or, push the “on/off/KEEP WARM” switch up (Fig 3) to reach 176°F (80°C) and
keep warm for re-boil. The indicator light will come on and the inside of the kettle will illu-
minate orange and flash when 176°F (80°C) is reached.
In the re-boil position the kettle will switch off automatically once the
kettle is removed from the powerbase, indicated by all lights on the
kettle going out.
- If you experience problems with your kettle switching on and off
during use or switching off before boiling, check that the flat element
is free from scale - see “descaling”.
- Your kettle is fitted with a filter to hold back limescale particles.
- If you find drops of water under your kettle, don’t worry - it is just condensation.
Boil-dry protection
- If you switch the kettle on with too little water, the boil dry protection feature will shut your
kettle off automatically. Switch off, remove from the powerbase and let it cool down before
re-filling. When it has cooled down, the switch will reset itself.
CARE AND CLEANING
- Before cleaning, unplug your kettle and let it cool down.
The outside and powerbase
- Wipe with a damp cloth, then dry. Do not use abrasives - they will
scratch the metal and plastic surfaces.
The inside
- Even though your kettle comes with a filter, you still need to clean the
inside (and the filter) regularly.
The filter
1 Open the lid. 2 Unclip the filter (Fig.4).

3 Clean using a soft brush or rinse under a running tap. Alternatively, when descaling your
kettle, the filter can be dropped into the solution. Rinse thoroughly after any descaling. 4 Clip the filter back into place until secure.
Descaling
- Regular descaling of the flat element will improve the performance of your kettle. If the ket-
tle is not descaled regularly the build up of limescale may result in the following:
- problems may be experienced with the kettle switching on and off during use or switching
off before boiling.
- the kettle may take longer to boil.
- the flat element may become damaged.
Please note: Failure to descale your kettle may invalidate your warranty.
- When limescale starts to build up on the heating element, buy a suitable descaler and
descale your kettle. After descaling, boil with fresh water several times and discard. Clean
any descaler off the kettle - it can damage the parts.
- Some regions of the country have chalky water. This makes boiled water look cloudy and
leaves a deposit on the side of the kettle. This is normal but can be removed with regular
cleaning.
- Alternatively, to reduce limescale build up, use filtered water to fill your kettle.
