Additional information for use in the hazardous area (ATEX Directive 94/9/EC)
For Bürkert devices with code PX04 ATEX II 3 GD follow the instructions in this additional information as well as the respective operating instructions concerning use in the potentially explosive area.
• Category 3G: at least protection class IP54.
• Category 3D, non-conductive dust: at least protection class IP5X.
• Category 3D, conductive dust: at least protection class IP6X. (Basic Safety Instructions, see page 2).
Zusatzinformation für den Einsatz im Ex-Bereich (ATEX Richtlinie 94/9/EG)
Bei Bürkert Geräten mit dem Code PX04 ATEX II 3 GD müssen beim Einsatz im explosionsgefährdeten Bereich zusätzlich zur jeweiligen Bedienungsanleitung die Hinweise dieser Zusatzinformation beachtet werden:
Geräte zum Einbau in Schaltschrank oder Gehäuse Der Schaltschrank oder das Gehäuse muss die für den Einsatzbereich geforderte mechanische Festigkeit und IP-Schutzart nach EN 60529 erfüllen:
• Kategorie 3G: mindestens Schutzart IP54.
• Kategorie 3D, nicht leitfähige Stäube: mindestens Schutzart IP5X.
• Kategorie 3D, leitfähige Stäube: mindestens Schutzart IP6X. (Grundlegende Sicherheitshinweise, siehe Seite 3).

Pour les appareils Bürkert avec le code PX04 ATEX II 3 GD vous devez, en cas d'utilisation dans des zones à risque d'explosion, respecter, en plus du manuel d'utilisation correspondant, également les indications de cette information supplémentaire.
Appareils pour montage dans une armoire électrique ou dans un boîtier L’armoire électrique ou le boîtier supplémentaire doit satisfaire à la résistance mécanique exigée pour le domaine d'application et au type de protection IP selon EN 60529:
• Catégorie 3G : au moins type de protection IP54.
• Catégorie 3D, poussières non conductibles : au moins type de protection IP5X.
• Catégorie 3D, poussières conductibles : au moins type de protection IP6X. (Consignes de sécurité fondamentales voir page 4).

Basic Safety Instructions
Danger!
Risk of explosion!
To avoid the risk of explosion, follow not only the basic safety instructions in the respective operating instructions, but also observe the following information concerning operation in the hazardous area:
• Installation, operation and maintenance may be performed by qualified technicians only.
• Observe the applicable safety regulations (also national safety regulations) as well as the general regulations of technology concerning installation and operation.
• Do not repair the device yourself, but replace it with an equivalent device. Repairs may be performed by the manufacturer only.
• Do not expose the device to mechanical and/or thermal stresses/influences which exceed the limits described in the operating instructions.
Observe the specifications relating to temperature class and ambient temperature on the rating plate.
Do not use the devices with gases or dust which have a lower ignition temperature than specified on the rating plate
Safety instructions for installation and maintenance
Danger!
Risk of explosion!
To avoid the risk of explosion, observe the following information when performing installation and maintenance in the hazardous area:
• Do not open the housing of the device when hazardouse atmosphere exist.
• To avoid an electrostatic charge, wipe the housing surface with a damp cloth only.
• Use only device sockets, cable and line entries which are authorized for the particular application area and are screwed together according to the appropriate installation instructions.
• If the cable gland is pre-assembled, install it according to the installation instructions supplied by the manufacturer of the screw connection. Before start-up, check whether the cable gland was installed in the hazardous area as described in the appropriate installation instructions.
• Seal all cable glands which are not required with ex-approved screw plugs.
• Do not open the housing of the device for operating inside switches when hazardous atmosphere exist. While bringing into service no hazardous atmosphere shall exist.
