R-18i The all new Radia R-18i loudspeaker from BG is a versatile on-wall loudspeaker
that utilizes the company’s patented planar ribbon technology in a completely unique
way. A two-way design, this model features both a 4” woofer and 4” passive radiator
coupled with BG’s patented Neo8 PDR wideband planar ribbon driver. The R-18i is easy
to drive and compatible with any high-quality amplifier or a/v receiver.
The R-18i can be used for a wide variety of audio/video applications around the home
from multi-room and multi-channel audio to video and home theater. In fact, the R-18i
is particularly well-suited for surround sound in high-quality home theater systems.
The patent-pending design can easily and quickly provide a choice of a direct or diffuse
sound field from a single wideband planar driver via the concealed Dispersion Pattern
Control (DPC) knob, located conveniently on the top panel.

Rotating the DPC knob, the user can simply change the speaker’s sound dispersion
pattern to the desired mode – direct or diffuse. Direct mode would typically be
selected for music. Diffuse, which generates virtually no direct energy toward the
listener, is ideal for home theater surround sound. This unique feature makes the
Radia R-18i an invaluable solution in any system where rear channel speakers need
to be placed close to a primary listening position.

The Dispersion Pattern Control (DPC) feature of
the Radia R-18i loudspeaker can readily provide either type
of surround sound (Direct or Diffuse) depending on the
application, the system’s layout and/or personal preference.
This unique attribute is so compelling that BG has a patent
pending on DPC.
