IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING
• As with all electrical appliances, always use the AIRLUX II with care.
• Do not clean the AIRLUX II by spraying it or immersing it in water.
• Do not inser
t any object into the openings of the AIRLUX II.
• Disconnect the product from the electrical outlet before cleaning the unit or any of its components.
•T
o reduce risk of electrical shock, this appliance has a polarized plug.
This plug will fit in an electrical outlet only one way. If it does not fit,
contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet. Do not change the plug in any way. Do not use adapters.
• Do not connect the
AIRLUX II to an electrical outlet using an extension cord.
If there is no accessible outlet, a qualified electrician should
install one.
• WHEN NOT IN USE, STORE OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN!
NEVER OPERATE THIS UNIT IF AN OXYGEN TENT OR SIMILAR CONCENTRATED OXYGEN GENERATING DEVICE IS PRESENT IN THE ROOM, OR IN A WORK AREA WITH BOTTLED GASES.
ATTENTION
BEFORE DECIDING ON A LOCATION FOR YOUR A
IRLUX II AIR PURIFIER, CAREFULLY READ ALL THE OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS AS WELL AS
THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION.
Any service, other than regular cleaning or filter replacement, should be performed by an authorized service representative.
Failure to do so
could result in loss of warranty.
A slight sensation may be felt if the carbon filament ionizing element (the carbon cor
d on the front air outlet) is touched. This is normal and
presents no danger. This sensation may also be felt if you touch a person or a large metal object while your other hand is on the unit.
CAUTION
This equipment should be inspected fr
equently and collected dirt removed fr
om it regularly to prevent excessive accumulation that may r
esult
in flashover or a risk of fir
e.
Please do not pull the carbon cor
d as this may result in damage to the ion generator.
The principle upon which the ionizer works is ionization. The process of ionization accelerates the fallout of pollutants from the air. These pollutants may adhere to surrounding surfaces, causing a dark smudge. Therefore, placement of the unit away from ALL NON-WASHABLE SURFACES is a must!
Never place this unit in close pr
oximity to electronic devices that contain electronic circuits, or are damaged by electrical fields.
Examples: video tapes, audio tapes, floppy disks, computers, wrist watches, touch lamps, radios, stereos, telephones, VCRs, etc.
Never operate the
AIRLUX II in horizontal position. The unit must always be vertical.
Never place this unit on metal shelving or on any electrical device.
The A
IRLUX II may be placed on a nightstand, table or desk with its air outlet facing the user.
In order to allow for proper air flow and to
reduce particle build-up, always keep your unit at least 1.5 ft. from any wall. The air outlet should always face away from the wall.
GENERAL SAFETY
For safety reasons, read this manual carefully before operating. Persons who are not familiar with this manual must not use this air purifier.
POWER ON/OFF
Power is turned ON by connecting the power cord plug to the electrical outlet and depressing the POWER SWITCH.
When power is initially turned ON to the AIRLUX II, each of the six LED indicator lamps will flash once in sequence to signal that all LEDs are functioning.
Power is turned OFF by cycling through the power settings in the pattern shown below and removing the power cord from the electrical outlet.
The AIRLUX II may be operated all day or night. The air flow can be regulated either by the power switch or by moving the AIRLUX II toward or away from the user. Air flow can be diverted by rotating the lower outlet grille.
CONTROL AND INDICATOR LIGHTS
The fan control switch is marked POWER - The air
cleaning rate of the unit can be electronically controlled by a unique one push switch for maximum efficiency and convenience. Continuous push of the switch, or discrete pushes, turn on the fan, and air flow rate then changes gradually in the following order:
OFF - SLEEP MODE - LOW - MEDIUM - HIGH - OFF
The airflow indication lights constantly show the mode of operation of the unit.
As the AIRLUX II employs a sophisticated electronic system, it is possible in rare cases that the LEDs may not properly indicate due to electrical mains or other disturbances. In such a case, unplug the unit for one minute and then plug it in again.
The “Sleep Mode” allows the user to leave the unit operating silently all night. The quiet operation and continuous air-purifying of the unit assures clean air during the entire night.
IONIZER CONTROL
The IONIZER SWITCH provides the option of releasing negative ions into the air stream. The ion control switch is marked “IONIZER”. The ionizer does not operate unless the AIRLUX II air purifier is turned ON. When the ionizer switch is pressed once the IONIZER INDICATOR LIGHT goes on. When it is pressed again the ionizer and the IONIZER INDICATOR LIGHT turn off. You may use the ionizer continuously, day and night.
TIME RESET
A simultaneous press on the POWER SWITCH and IONIZER SWITCH for 5 seconds resets the time control of the electronic system. Make sure to press the two switches simultaneously only after replacing the HEPA filter, as described in the “Replacing the HEPA Filter” section.
