Algorithms
The ZyXEL Gigabit Switch 1500 Series currently consists of one switch: the ZyXEL GS1500-24P.
The Switch 1500 Series with advanced Web-based management support is specially designed
for SME networks where large bandwidth, advanced QoS and security features are required.
Through the Web GUI interface, users can implement rich network management with ease.
The ZyXEL GS1500-24P is a 24-port L2 Gigabit PoE switch providing 24 100/1000 Mbps ports
with Layer-2 switching capability at wire speed over the existing CAT-5 cablings to customers’
desktop with power budget support (following IEEE 802.3af). In addition, the GS1500-24P
offers four extra GbE ports (RJ-45 shared with GbE SFP open slots) capable of adopting GbE
SFP transceivers for optional fiber connectivity.
Key Benefits
Robust System Design Fits Any Network
To cope with diverse requirements of branch offices or SME businesses, the ZyXEL GS1500-24P
Switch comes with 24 Gigabit PoE copper ports plus 4 dual-personality (RJ-45/SFP) Gigabit ports to
provide a 56 Gbps non-blocking connection for branches or SME networks. This flexible multi-
function design fits into any network easily.
Smart Interface for Easy Configuration and Management
The ZyXEL GS1500-24P Switch provides stress-free operation for branch offices or SME networks.
Through the Web-based interface, switch configurations such as 802.1Q VLAN, 802.1p traffic priority
and static port aggregation can be implemented locally or remotely for easy administration; even
people who are not IT experts can setup and configure the switch with just a few mouse clicks. The
versatility and easy operation can really help enterprises to manage their networks easily.

Freedom of Installation by Power over Ethernet
The ZyXEL GS1500-24P supports IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE) to ease installation in
challenging spaces such as ceiling or wall mounting. It works with devices such as WLAN AP, VoIP
phones and IP surveillance cameras that can be powered by Ethernet connectivity over CAT-5 cables
less than 100 meters in length; so there is no need for extra power adapters, and powering the
devices installed on the ceiling is no longer a headache. This feature helps enterprises to reduce
installation time and cost when many new devices are needed.
Intelligent PoE for Cost Savings
ZyXEL’s Intelligent PoE feature provides two power supply modes:
• Classification Mode—the switch reserves the maximum power (mW) to each powered device (PD)
according to the priority levels.
• Consumption Mode—the switch manages the total power supply, so each connected PD gets the
actual power it needs.
In the Consumption Mode, ZyXEL’s Intelligent PoE provides actual amount of power PDs need. When
power consumption of an attached device is detected, ZyXEL’s Intelligent PoE will reserve the
required power automatically. In addition, you can set power feeding priorities on different ports to
get the best use of power resource. This capability can increase the number of devices connected
and deliver a better ROI for the business.
Key Applications
Intelligent PoE Web GUI
The Web GUI shows the status of
connected PDs, and it enables the IT
staff to easily monitor and manage
power consumption of PDs such as
WLAN APs and IP phones for less
energy waste, as such green networks
can be built with minimum effort.
