The YSP components apply sophisticated Digital
Sound Projector™ Technology to precisely control
the orientation of the sound by focusing it into
beams. The center channel sound is heard directly,
while sounds from other channels are heard after
reflecting off walls. The result is true multi-channel
surround sound that sounds
just like a multi-speaker
system — but without the

Deep Color, xvYCC, Auto Lip-Sync and Refresh Rates

The HDMI 1.3a, provides the benefits of Deep Color
(30/36bit), the xvYCC color standard, Auto Lip-Sync
function that automatically adjusts the lag between
video and audio, and a double speed Refresh Rates

Custom Installation Compatibility

Yamaha has made it extremely convenient to set up a
multi-room custom installation. And given you the
ability to do it in a variety of ways. Now you can
have sound in various rooms of the house without
the need to purchase a lot of extra components.

• RX-Z11BL

The RX-Z11BL has extensive zone control capabilities,
which are too numerous to explain here. The most
important point is that the 11.2 channels can be
assigned in a wide variety of configurations to
Main/Zone 2/Zone 3/ Zone 4. The presence, rear
presence and EXTD (by surround back amp) speaker
terminals can be assigned to each zone. It provides
Intelligent Power Amplifier Assignability (surround
back amp assignment) and Independent Zone Amplifier
Assignment with 7.2-channel main zone playback.

Also important is that Zone 2 can accept
bitstream signals and also offers component video
output and upconversion of composite and S-Video
signals.

Some other convenient zone functions include: a
Party Mode that permits audio BGM and video BGV
play of the same input source in the main room and
other three zones with one-button operation, a Zone
OSD function that lets you browse information about
the songs or FM/AM/XM/HD radio broadcasts that are
playing, Zone Mono that provides compatibility with
one-speaker or three-speaker installation
environments, and a Preamplifier Mode that permits
the entire 11-channel amplifier to be allotted for
three-zone use (main zone powered by an external
amp).

• RX-V3800BL and RX-V1800BL

Convenient operation is assured thanks to control of
Main/Zone 2/Zone 3 power, FM/AM/XM tuning,
volume and input select on the front panel, along
with extensive information, Zone 2/3 tone and L/R
balance control for ceiling- or wall-mount speakers
and even a separate Zone Remote Unit. There is also
an RS-232C interface for a touch-panel controller.

Dialogue Lift

Clear dialogue is important for movie enjoyment,
however, when using front and center speakers
positioned below the screen, dialogue may not be
heard with maximum clarity. The Dialogue Lift
function causes part of the front and center
channel sound to be output from the presence
speakers, so you hear the dialogue more clearly.

Assignable Amplifiers for Bi-Amp Connection

Bi-amping assigns the amps used for the surround
back channels to work in conjunction with the
front speaker amps to provide separate high and
low frequency outputs to the front speakers. This
provides more power to the front speakers for
multi-channel or HiFi sound. Both high frequency
and low frequency sound quality is improved.

Adaptive DRC

Adaptive DRC (Dynamic Range Control) is a new
volume control technology that is effective for
low-volume listening, such as at night or with
headphones. It applies DRC processing to eliminate
the volume differences between loud commercials
and ordinary programming and to take into account
our ears’ loss of sensitivity as volume decreases.
The compensation is performed automatically, so all
dialogue is heard clearly even at low levels, and
there are no sudden loud bursts of sound.

difficult to hear. Adaptive DSP Level overcomes this
problem by evaluating the difference between the
volume level and a reference level, and adjusting
the DSP level to ensure optimum effectiveness, that
is, the best possible sound.

Learn More About Improved Features

System Memory

You can use the System Memory function to easily
save and recall various combinations of system
settings. For example, if you have a particular “sound”
that you prefer with action movies, just save those
settings and then press that memory button whenever
you watch an action movie. The RX-Z11BL provides
ten System Memories for the main zone (audio,
speaker configuration, video, volume, input/HDMI out
and option. It also has four System for zones 2, 3 and
4 (input, volume and tone control). The RX-V3800BL
and RX-V1800BL also let you save up to six different
system settings. System Memory is an easy way to
ensure that you enjoy the best possible sound with
different sources and room conditions. It is especially
useful with high-end models that have a wide range
of customizable parameters.

SCENE Offers Greater Operating Ease

With most receivers, watching or listening to what
you want requires a number of steps. You have to
turn on the receiver, turn on another component like
a DVD player, select the source, select the surround
mode and then press play. But with Yamaha’s SCENE
feature all you need to do is press one button. Both
components turn on, the correct DSP setting is made,
and play begins.
