5. Installing the Hard Disk Drive (HDD)

Befo r e the DVR is powered on, make sure you have install ed a h ard disk, connec ted at leas t one camera and an HDMI moni tor. The DV R is d e signed to automatic a lly detect th e video sys tem of the connected c ame r as (NTSC or PAL) . To make su r e the s ystem detection is correc t; please c h ec k if the cameras are co n n ec ted to the DVR and power-su p plied before the DVR is powered o n.

Notes:

• It is not recommended to use a green hard dis k in this d evi c e. For a list of compatible hard d is k s , please refer to th e ap p endic es in t he full use r manual.

• It is recommended to clear all d ata on a new hard disk after the DV R is powered on , and to se t th e date and time corr e c tly to make s u r e that r ecord ed d a ta ar e n ot mixed wi th ol der data. For details on clearing all data, refer to Clearing the H a r d Disk .

Refer to the illus trations on page 2 of this manual. There are two hard disk brackets .

1. Loosen the screws on the top cover of the DVR and open it.

2. To install a hard disk in the first bracket: first remove the bracket. M ake s u r e the PCB sid e of the hard disk

is facing up. Then align the screw holes of the bracket with the screw holes of the hard disk, and fasten the hard disk to the bracket. Co nnect the power and data bus connecto rs to the hard dis k. Replace the bracket in the DVR.

3. To install a hard disk in the second bracket: first connect the power and data bus connectors to the hard di s k. Make sure the PCB side of the hard disk is facing up. T hen align the screw holes of the bracket with the screw holes of the hard disk, and fas ten the h ard di s k to the b rac k et.

4. When the hard disk is installed, close the top cover and fasten it with the screws.

6. User Interface

Refer to the illustrations on page 2 of this manual.

6.1 DVR Access

1. Connect a USB mouse to the mouse port  on the DVR front panel, and check if there is a m ouse icon

on the screen , i ndicating the USB mouse is detec ted p roperly .

2. Move your mouse to enter the DVR password with the password keypad. The default user name and passw ord are bot h admin.

The status will change from (key lock) to (unlock).

Note: You c an configu re fou r differ en t user levels with different ac c es s privileges in the main menu (SYSTEM) > A CCOUNT . Fo r more information, refer to User Creation further in this manual.

7. Hardware Ove rview

7.1 Front Panel

• LED indicators

o : DVR is powered on. o : HDD is reading or recording.

o : An alarm is triggered. o : Timer recording is on.

o : DV R is in p layback mode.

• : Fo r models with a DVD wri ter, press to open or close it.

• 1–4: Press the channel number buttons to select the channel to display.

• : Press to show the 4-channel display mode.

• SEQ: Press to show a ll scree ns sequ ent ia l ly in full screen mod e. Press ag ain to quit.

• P.T.Z. ( + SEQ): Press + SEQ at the s a me time to enter or exit the PTZ control mode.

• SLOW: In playback mo d e, press to play the recorded file slowly.

• ZOOM: Pres s to enlarge the image of the s el ec ted chann el (in FRAME or FIELD recording mode).

• AUDIO (SLOW + ZOOM): Press SLOW + ZOOM at the same ti me to s elect live or playback audio from audio

channel 1-4.

• MENU: Press MENU to enter the main menu.

• ENTER: Press ENTER to confirm the setting.

7.2 Rear Panel

• INPUT (1–4): Connect to the video connector of a camera.

Note: The DVR will automatic ally detect the video system o f the c amera; make s u re th at the cameras ar e pro p erl y con n ec ted to the DVR and powered on before the DVR is turned on.

• 75Ω / HI-IMPEDANCE (1–4): If you are u sing the loop functio n, set the switch to HI-IMPEDANCE; otherwise, set to 75Ω.

• CALL: Connect to a monitor specific for sequence display.

• AUDIO IN (1-4): Connect to the audio connector of a camera if the camera supports audio recording.

Note: To make a video backup with audio, make sure the camera which supp o rts the audio function is con n ec ted to the vid eo-in channel and audio -in channel. Fo r example, the audio d ata from audio channel 1 will be recorded with the video data from video channel 1.

• AUDIO OUT (1): Mono audio output to connect to a speaker.

• LAN: Connect to internet by LAN c able.

• PUSH VIDEO Alarm In: Connect 1 alarm device for event notifications to your smart phone (push video). The alarm input 1–corresponds with th e video input 1 .

• EXTERNAL I/O: This port is used to con n ec t extern al devices (such as sp eed dome cameras , external alarms, etc).

• HDMI: Connect to the HDMI port of a monitor that supports HDMI video output. Note: You can use the HDMI and VGA output ports simultaneously for dual video output.

• eSATA : Connect to a storage devic e that s upports th e eSA TA i n terface. For example, an extern al h ard disk or a dis k ar r ay . Note: Make sure that the disk array supports Linux® to ens ure proper functioning.

• VGA: Connect to the VGA po r t of a monitor that supports HDMI video outp u t. Note: You can use the HDMI and VGA output ports simultaneously for dual video output.

• IR: Connect the IR r ec ei ver extens i on line for remote control.

• DC 19V: Con n e ct to the suppl ied adap ter.

8. Connection and Setup

8.1 Connecting a Moni tor and Camera

1. Obtain a suitable moni tor (not included) and connect i t to the HDMI v i de o ou t p u t por t on t h e back of

the DVR.

2. Obtain at least one s uitable camera ( not included). Each camera needs its own power supply.

3. Con nect the video output of the camer a to a vid eo i nput at the bac k of th e DVR (INPUT 1–4). The number s

next to the inp u t connectors represent the channel number. Connector type is BNC.

4. Power on the camera(s).

8.2 Switching On

Caution:

• Befor e the DVR is powered on, make sure that (1) the cameras are connec ted and powered on fo r the detecti on of the camera video system to b e co rr ec t, and (2) an HDMI monitor is connected to the DVR for co r r e ct video output detection.

• This d evi c e should be operated o nl y with th e typ e of power so u rce indicated on the manufacturer’s label. Use o nl y the incl u d ed adap ter.

To switch on the DVR:

1. Plug the DC output connector of the included power adapter into the power inp u t (DC 19V) at the back of the DVR.

2. Plug the included power cable into the adapter input connector and plug the other end into the mains.

3. Switch on t he DVR w ith the power switch on the bac k of the device. The power LED lights o n the front of

the D V R .

Note: To ensure that your DVR works constantly and pro perly, it is recommended to use an UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply, not incl.), for continu ous operat ion.

8.3 Date and Time Setting

Befo r e op er ating your DVR , please s et the d ate and time on your DVR first. Note: DO NOT change the date or time of your DV R after the rec ording func tion is ac tivated . O th erwise, the

reco rded data will be disordered and you will not be able to find the recorded file from backup by time s earch. If us er s chan ge the date or time accidentally wh en the recording functio n is activated , i t is reco mmend ed to clear all HDD data, and start recording again .

Note: When usi ng the DVR fo r the fi rs t time, l eave it powered on for at least 48 hours continuously after the date and time is set correctly. It prevents DVR time from resetti ng if the DVR power i s disc on n ec ted . If the DVR time resets after power disconn ec tion (for example caused by a power outag e), the internal battery may run down. In that case, yo u have to replace the internal battery. Please refer to the appendic es in the full user manual for more inf or m a tion.

2. Right-click to show the main menu, and select (QUICK START) > TIME SETUP to set the d ate and time.

8.4 Clearing the Hard Disk

It is reco mmend ed to clear all d ata in th e hard disk when using this DVR for the first time to ensure the reco rded data are not mixed with oth er data previously saved in the s ame hard disk.

1. Right-click to show the mai n menu, and select (SYSTEM) > SYSTEM INFO > CLEAR HDD .

2. The DVR will reboot when HDD data are clear ed . Pl eas e refer to th e full user manual for mor e informa t i on .

8.5 Password Setting

1. Right-click to show the mai n menu, and select (SYSTEM) > ACCOUNT to change the defaul t password of

SUPERVISOR.

9. Basic Operation

9.1 Key Lock / Unlock

To lock or u nlock th e ope r ation, c l ick (key lock) or (unlock) in th e DV R status ba r to c hange the statu s. When you unlock the operation, you have to enter a user name and password. The default user name and

passw ord are bot h admin. These creden tials give you access wi th the high es t u s er level. F or m or e informa t io n , refer to User Cre ation f urther in this manual.

9.2 User Creation

Note: This fun c tion is on ly a v ailable for SUP E R VIS O R us e rs.

To create a new user ac co u n t, select (SYSTEM) > ACCOUNT. The list of users appears on the display.

10. Push Video Configuration

10.1 Pin Connection

This DVR can send notifications to your mobile devices, such as iPh one, iPa d, and Android mobile devices, if an an al ar m ev en t occurs (push video). However, on ly certain alarm-in pins supp ort th is function.

There are several methods to connect al arm sensors for push video:

• via the push video alarm-in terminal

• via the external I/O port.

Push Video Alarm-In Terminal

A push video alarm-in termi n al is pro vided on the DVR rear p an el. Refer to the image below fo r the pin connections that support push video and its corresponding video channel .

Alarm Sensor Connection

Connect the alarm sensor, such as magnetic contacts, to the push video alarm-in termin al or I / O pins that support push video on the DVR rear panel.

10.2 Configuration

Before configuring push video, make sure that:

• The DVR system is set up as descri bed in C onnection a nd S etup.

• The DVR is conne ct ed to internet.

• You have installed the EagleEyes app on your iPhone, iPad, or Android mobile

devices. For details, please refer to M o bile Surveil lance via EagleEyes .

To conf igure push vi deo :

1. Right-click to show the mai n menu and select (ADVANCED CONFIG) > NOTIFY.

2. Set G U ARD to ON.

3. Configure your alarm sensor type (normal open or normal closed).

Careful! You have to select the opposite type for push video to work correctly.

• If your alarm sensor is N.C. (normal closed, alarm go es off when the contact opens), then select ALARM N.O.

• If your alarm sensor is N.O. (normal open, alarm goes off when the contact closes) , then select ALARM N.C.

This DVR series supports instant event notifications to your iPhone, iPad, or Android mobile device with EagleEyes installed . When a human is detected b y a hu man detection camera or the extern al alarm device, the DVR will immediately receive alarm signals and send them to your mobile device.

5. De hard disk drive (HDD) installeren

Zorg ervoor dat de harde schijf geïn s talleerd is en slui t mins ten s één HD M I-monitor en een camera aan, voo r d at u de DVR insch akelt. De DVR herkent het videos ys teem van de aangesloten camera's (NTSC/PAL) automati s c h . Om een goede s ysteemdetectie te garanderen; controleer eer s t of d e camera's ver b onden zijn met de DVR en een vo edingsbron voordat u de DVR insc h akel t.

Opmerkingen:

• Het is ni et aanb evolen om een groene (ecologis che) harde schijf te geb r ui k en in dit to es tel. R aad pl eeg de bijlagen in de uitgebreide handleiding voor de lijst met compatibele harde schijven.

• Na het in schakelen van de DVR is het aan te raden o m alle gegeven s te verwijderen van een nieuw e harde schijf en om de datum en d e tijd co r rect in te s tellen om verwarring bij het zoeken van bes tand en te vermijden. Voor meer informatie over het verwij d er en van alle gegeven s , zie De harde schijf wiss en.

Raadpleeg de afbeeldingen op pagina 2 van deze handleiding. Er zijn 2 montagebeugels voorzien.

1. Schroef het bovendeksel van d e DVR los en neem het weg .

2. Om een harde schijf te installer en in de eerste b eu g el : verwijder eerst de montageb eu gel. Pl aats d e h ar d e

schijf met de printplaat naar boven. Lijn de schroefgaten van d e beugel uit met de schroefgaten van de harde schijf, en bevestig de harde schijf aan de montagebeugel . Sluit de voedings- en dataconnectoren aan op de harde schijf. P laa t s de mont a ge beu gel ter ug in de DVR .

3. Om een harde schijf te installer en in de tweede montageb eu gel: sluit eerst de voedings- en dataconnectoren aan op de harde schijf. Plaats de harde schij f met de printplaat n aar boven. Li jn de schroefgaten van de beugel uit met de schroefgaten van de har d e schijf, en bevestig de harde schijf aan d e montagebeugel.

4. Na het pl aatsen van de harde schijf, sluit het bovend ek s el en sc hroef vast.

6.1 DVR-toegang

1. Sl ui t een USB-mui s aan op de muispoort  op het DVR-fro n tp an eel, en controleer of er een muispictogram

7. Overz icht h ardware

7.1 Frontpaneel

• LED-indicators

7.2 Achterpaneel

• INPUT (1–4): Aan sluiting voor de camera.

Opmerking: De DVR herkent automati sch het videosys teem van d e camera. Zorg ervoor dat u de camera's cor rect met de DVR en de voedin g sbr on verbin dt, voor u de DVR inschakelt.

• 75Ω / HI-IMPEDANCE (1–4): Indien u de 'loop'-functie gebruikt, z et d e schakelaar op HI-IMPEDANCE, indien niet, zet de schakelaar op 75Ω.

• CALL: Aansluiting voor een Call-monitor.

• AUDIO IN (1-4): Ingang voor de audio-aanslui ting van de camera (enkel voor camera met au d io).

Opmerking: Zorg ervoor dat, in dien u een vid eo b ac k-up met audio wen s t, de camera di e d e audiof u n c tie

ond er s teun t zowel op de video-ingang al s au dio-ingang is aangesloten. Bijvoorbeeld, de audio van audiokanaal 1 zal opgeslagen worden met de vi d eog egevens van videokanaal 1.

• AUDIO OUT (1): Mono audio-uitgang naar l u i dspreker .

• LAN: LAN-aansluiting.

• PUSH VIDEO Alarm In: Sluit een alarmtoestel aan o m berichten naar uw smartphone te kunnen ontvangen

(pu s h video) . Alarmingang 1 komt overeen met vid eo-ingang 1.

• EXTERNAL I/O: Dez e poor t wo rdt geb r ui kt voor het aansluiten van externe to es tellen zoals koepelc amera' s , externe al armen, enz.

• HDMI: Sluit aan op de HDMI-poort van een monitor met HDMI-ondersteuning. Opmerking: U kunt de HDMI- en VGA-uitgan gsp oort e n ge li jkt ijd ig gebruiken voor dubbele video-uitgang.

• eSAT A: Sl ui t aan op een opslagapparaat dat eSATA-interf ac e ond er s teu n t. Bij voorbeeld, een externe harde schijf of een disk array. Opmerking: Zorg ervoor dat de disk array Linux® ondersteun t voo r een goede werking.

• VGA: Sluit aan op de VGA-poort van een monitor met HDMI-ondersteuning. Opmerking: U kunt de HDMI- en VGA-uitgangspoorten gelijktijdig gebruiken voor dubbele video-uitgang.

• IR: Sl ui t d e extensiekabel aan voor de IR-afstandsbediening.

• DC 19V: Sluit aan op de meegeleverde voedingsad ap ter .

• : aan-uitschakelaar. Zet op | om in te schakelen of op  om uit te schakelen.

8. Aansluiting e n instelling

8.1 Een monito r en camera aansluiten

1. Sl ui t een co mp atib ele monitor (niet meegeleverd) aan op de HMDI-ui tv oerpoort a c hteraan o p d e DV R.

2. Sl ui t mins ten s één co mp atib ele c amera aan (niet meegelever d ). El ke camera heeft een eigen voedi ng

nodig.

3. Sluit de video-uitgang van de c amer a aan op de video-in gang achteraan de DVR (INPUT 1–4). De nummers naast de ingangsaansluitingen duiden o p het kanaalnummer . Het aansl uittype is BN C.

4. Schakel de camera('s) in.

8.2 Inschakelen

Opgelet:

• Al voren s de DVR in te schakel en , zo rg ervoo r dat (1) de camera's en voedi ngs b ron aangesloten zijn, en dat een HDMI-monitor op de D VR aangesloten is.

• Geb r uik dit toestel enkel met een comp atibele voeding sbr on (zie label). Gebrui k en kel de meegel everde voedingsadapter.

De DVR inschakelen:

1. Steek de DC -stekker van de voedingsadapter in de 19 VDC-ingang achteraan de DVR .

2. Koppel de meegeleverde voedingskabel aan op de ingangsaansluiting van de adapter en koppel het andere

uiteinde aan het lichtnet.

3. Schakel de DVR in met d e voedi n gss c h akel aar ac h teraan h et to estel. De voedingsled op het frontpanee l licht op.

Opmerking: Om er zeker van te zij n dat uw DVR con s tant en co r rect functioneert, is h et aan te rad en om een noodstroomvoedi ng (UPS, niet meegelev.) te g ebruiken, voor een constante w er king.

8.3 Datum en tijd instellen

Stel voor het gebruik van de DVR, de datum en tij d in. Opmerking: Verander NOOIT de datum en tijd nadat u de opnamefunctie g eac tiveerd hebt. Anders r aakt de

volg orde van de opgenomen gegevens doo reen en kunnen d e opgenomen bestanden later niet word en teruggevonden. Verandert u de datum of het uur onopzettelijk na het acti veren van de opnamefunctie, wis dan alle gegevens van de harde schijf en herbegin met de opname.

Opmerking: Bij het eerste geb ruik laat u d e DVR, na datum- en tijdinstellin g , bes t g eduren d e 4 8 uur ingeschakeld. Z o wor dt de DVR-tijdinstelling niet gewist bij het on tkoppelen van de DVR. Wanneer d e tijdinstell ing gewist word t n a h e t on tk oppel en van de voedin g (bi jvoor beeld door str oomui tv al ), dan raakt de in tern e b atterij leeg. In dit geval, vervang de interne batterij. Voor meer i nformatie, raadpleeg de bijl ag en in d e uitgebrei de handleiding.

Wis alle data van de harde schijf als u de DVR voor de eerste keer gebruikt, zodat de nieuwe opnames niet met oud er e d ata verwisseld kunnen word en .
