Before hookup
Check your tuner
This DVD-VCR does not include a tuner.
To record TV programs on the DVD-VCR from a connected device, you
need to connect the DVD-VCR to a tuner that has audio/video output jacks.
You have :
Cable Box With Video/Audio Output
– or –
Satellite Receiver With Video/Audio Output
hint
If you have been using your VCR connected to an antenna, connect this DVD-VCR to
the VCR using an audio/video cord. This way, you can record TV programs.
If you have neither of the above tuners :
You have :
Cable Box/Satellite Receiver Without Video/Audio
Output
Please contact your cable service or satellite service company
to ask cable box or satellite receiver with video/audio output.
Cable With No Cable Box
Please contact your cable service to ask cable box with video/
audio output.
Antenna Only (No Cable TV/No Satellite Receiver)
You need to subscribe to a cable TV or satellite TV service and
to get a cable box or satellite receiver with video/audio output.

Select a connection
To enjoy DVD/VCR playback, select connection A. In addition, if you want to record
TV programs from a connected tuner, make additional connections by referring to
connection B.

Don’t know which device you are
operating?
If the remote does not seem to function, you
may be operating your TV, not the DVD-VCR.
Set the TV/DVD-VIDEO switch on the remote.
Also, some buttons work only for the DVD
player or the VCR. Be aware of the one you
are controlling: check the “DVD” or “VIDEO”
indicator in the display window and select by
pressing SELECT DVD or SELECT VIDEO.

Timer recording will operate properly
regardless if the DVD-VCR is turned
on or off.

record set on your cable box or
satellite receiver, and leave it
turned on.

Press CLEAR in STEP 4.

Why is the indicator flashing in the
display window?
The indicator flashes when a timer setting is
set with no tape to record on. Insert a tape
with its safety tab in place.

Plug the DVD-VCR power cord into
an AC outlet.

Press / to turn on the DVD-
VCR and turn on your TV.

Switch the TV input using the
TV’s remote (usually INPUT or
TV/VIDEO) so that the signal
from the DVD-VCR appears on
the TV screen.
Which do you want to use?
For operating the DVD player
Press SELECT DVD.
“DVD” is lit in the display window.
For operating the VCR
Press SELECT VIDEO.
“VIDEO” is lit in the display window.
