The platform glazier package allows the aerial
platform operator to position glass, or similar
panel material, at the work place.
Important Safety Information
Safety Practices
The following safety practices may be used as a
guide while using the glazier package on the job.
The operator bears ultimate responsibility for
following all manufacturer’s instructions and
warnings, regulations and safety rules of their
employer and/or any state or federal law.
Platform Capacity
The platform rated work load is the total weight of
the personnel and equipment that may be lifted
in the platform. The work load is stated on the
platform rating placard mounted on the toeboard
at the rear of the platform.
The maximum total load carried by the glazier
trays must not exceed 250 lb (113 kg). The
weight of the load in the trays reduces the platform capacity by the amount of the load.
The glazier package includes the following:
Two trays with keeper pins.
•
Padding for the platform rails.
•
Staps (with protectors) to secure the mate-
•
rial to the platform.
A storage box for straps, strap protectors,

and the Operator’s Manual.
serious injury. This signal word is to be used
in the most extreme situations.
Warning
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation
which, if not avoided, could result in death
or serious injury.
Caution
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation
which, if not avoided, may result in minor or
moderate injury. It may also be used to alert
against unsafe practices.
Operator Responsibilities
The glazier package has been factory tested
for compliance with Snorkel specifications and
industry standards. However, its use can be
potentially dangerous in the hands of untrained
or careless operators.
Protective Gear
Make certain to wear proper protective gear to
help prevent personal injury while handling
glass. The operator bears ultimate responsibility
for following all manufacturer’s instructions and
warnings, regulations and safety rules of their
employer and/or any state or federal law.
Safety Alerts
A safety alert symbol is used in this manual to
indicate danger, warning, and caution instructions.
Follow these instructions to reduce the likelihood
of personal injury and property damage. The
terms danger, warning, and caution indicate varying degrees of personal injury or property damage
that can result if the instruction is not followed.
Danger
Indicates an imminently hazardous situation
which, if not avoided, will result in death or
Platform Glazier Package – 0421269 1
The potential for an accident increases
when the aerial platform and associated
equipment is operated by personnel who
are not trained and authorized. Death or serious injury can result from such accidents.
Read and understand the information in
this manual and on the placards and decals
on the machine before operating the aerial
platform and using the glazier package on
the job.
Training is essential and must be performed by a
qualified person. Become proficient in knowledge
and actual operation before using the glazier package on the job. You must be trained and authorized
to perform any functions of the aerial platform. Use
of the glazier package must be within the scope
of the manufacturer’s specifications.

The potential for an accident increases when
proper safety procedures are not followed
while using the glazier package. Death or serious injury can result from such accidents.
Read, understand, and follow the safety information in this manual and in the aerial lift
Operator’s Manual to help prevent injury.
The operator bears ultimate responsibility for
following all manufacturer’s instructions and
warnings, regulations and safety rules of their
employer and/or any state or federal law.
Maintenance
Every person who maintains, inspects, tests, or
repairs the glazier package components must be
qualified to do so. Daily inspection will help keep
the components in optimum working condition.
Other maintenance functions must be performed
by qualified maintenance personnel.
Do not modify this glazier package and its associated components without prior written consent
of the Snorkel Engineering Department. Modification may void the warranty, adversely affect
stability, or affect the operational characteristics
of the aerial platform.
Placards and Decals
Include the glazier package placards and decals
in the daily Prestart Inspection of the machine.
Make certain they are in place, in good condition,
and are legible.
The placards and decals may be cleaned with
soap and water, and a soft cloth if the words or
pictures cannot be seen.
Caution
Solvents may contain hazardous ingredients.
Follow the manufacturer’s label for proper
use and disposal. Wear protective gloves
and splash-proof safety glasses when using
solvents.
Wet paint overspray may be removed using a
natural biodegradable solvent and a soft cloth.
Replace any missing or illegible placards or decals before operating the aerial platform. Placard
and decal kits are available from Snorkel.
The glazier package placards and decals are
illustrated below.
The platform rated work load is the total weight of
the personnel and equipment that may be lifted
in the platform. The work load is stated on the
platform rating placard mounted on the toeboard
at the rear of the platform.
Danger
The aerial platform will tip over if it becomes
unstable. Death or serious injury will result
from a tip-over accident. Do not exceed the
capacity values indicated on the platform
rating placard.
Capacity values indicate the rated lifting capacity
and do not indicate aerial platform stability.
The operator bears ultimate responsibility for
ensuring that the aerial platform is properly set
up for the particular conditions encountered.
The maximum total load carried by the glazier
trays must not exceed 250 lb (113 kg). The
weight of the load in the trays reduces the platform capacity by the amount of the load.
The trays are to be used to carry glass, or similar
panel material, to the work site and should never
be used as steps.
3. Fasten the assist straps to the platform top
rail, one on each side of the platform as
shown in Figure 1.
Assist Strap

4. Fasten the tie-down strap between the two
assist strap loops (refer to Figure 2).

Make certain that the area below the platform
is clear of personnel before raising material to
the worksite.
Do not use the glazier package in windy conditions
that exceed the maximum wind speed rating as
indicated in the machine Operator’s Manual and
on the serial number placard on the machine.
Installation
The glazier package must only be installed on
platforms with side entry gates. Do not install
the glazier package on platforms that only have
entry gates at the rear of the platform.
Use the following procedure to install the platform glazier package on the platform.
1. If the glazier package was not factory installed, refer to page 4, Kit Installation.
2. Remove the straps and trays from the storage box.

provided. Fasten the pin in place using the
wire bail.
7. When properly installed for use, the trays will
hang from the outside of the platform on the
toeboard as shown in Figure 4.
The trays may be hung on the inside of the
platform on the mid rail or toeboard, for short
term storage only.
Figure 4 – Glazier Trays Installed
Loading The Trays
Make certain the glazier package is properly
installed before using it on the job.
When placing glass, or similar panel material,
on the trays, always center it on the trays to
make sure the weight is evenly balanced on
the platform. Secure the load using the straps
provided, making sure the strap protectors are
placed against the rough edges of the load to
help prevent damage to the strap. Replace the
strap if it becomes worn or frayed.
Storage
When the glazier package is not in use, the
straps and Operator’s Manual should be placed
in the storage box.

Kit Installation
When purchased as a kit the padding and vinyl
cover must be installed on the platform guardrails
before installing the trays for use in the field.
1. Cut the foam padding to length as shown on
the installation drawing on page 5.
2. Wrap the foam padding over the platform
guardrails.
3. Cut the yellow cover to length. An additional
2″ may be added to each length of the cover.
This will allow 1″ of material to be turned
under at each end to leave a smooth edge
on the ends of the padding.
4. Use the ties provided to fasten the cover
around the foam padding.
5. Hang the compartment containing the straps
and Operator’s Manual over the mid rail as
shown in Figure 5. Secure the bracket to the
platform using the keeper pin provided.
