device for the first time and observe all the
instructions, even if you are familiar with the use of
electronic devices. Keep the manual safe and
always pass it on with the device.

Safety instructions
Intended use
The SilverCrest STL 1.5 A1 multi-function speaker is
used in accordance with its intended purpose when it is
used exclusively for playback of audio files stored on
microSD cards or if it is connected to an audio source
with the 3.5mm audio cable. Any o ther use is not as
intended.
The manufacturer does not assume any liability if:
The multi-function speaker is not used as intended.
The multi-function s peak er is dam ag ed, incom ple te
or modified prior to connection and use.
This is an electronic entertainment dev ice. It may only
be used for private purposes, but not for indus trial or
commercial purposes.
General safety information
Keep electric devices away from children or persons
with mental or physical limitations! Never let such
persons use electric devices without supervision.
They cannot always recognise possible hazards.
Small parts can be fatal if swallowed. Also not e that
there is a risk of suffocation if air passages are
blocked by the plastic packaging.
If smoke is produced, or there are any unusual
sounds or smells, turn the multi-function speaker off
immediately.
In these cases the device shou ld no t be
used until it has been inspected by authorised
service personnel.
Operational safety
Never use any adapter plugs or extension cables
which are damaged or which do not comply with valid
safety standards.
To disconnect a c able always hold the multi-function
speaker and pull the plug, not the cable. Ensure that
the cable is not kinked and does not cause an
obstruction.
If the multi-function speaker is exposed to extreme
temperature fluctuations, condensation can lead to
the accumulation of moisture which can cause a
short circuit. In this case wait until the multi-function
speaker has reached ambient temperature before
use.
Operating environment/Environmental
conditions
Protect the multi-func tion speaker against moisture,
vibration, dust, heat and direct sunlight. It could
otherwise become damaged.

Lower the volume / Previous track; hold the button
down to lower the volume. Press the button briefly to
select the previous track.

udio connection; you can connect an external audio
source with the 3.5mm jack plug. In this mode
remove any inserted microSD card before switching
the device on. Audio output is switched on and off
with button 3 and the volume is controlled with
buttons 1 and 4.

On/off button / Playback / Pause; hold the button
down to switch the device on and off. Press the
button briefly when the device is switched on to
pause or resume playback.

Increase the volume / Next track; hold the button
down to increase the volume. Press the button
briefly to select the next track.

Headphone connection; insert the 3.5mm jack plug
of headphones into this socket. The loudspeaker (8)
is automatically muted and the audio output is only
heard on the connected headphones.

USB connection; insert the smaller plug of the
supplied USB cable (mini-USB to USB cable) into
this socket when the multi-function speaker is
switched off and insert the large plug into a USB
socket on your PC or notebook (switch the PC or
notebook on first). The multi-function speaker is then
charging. The power indicator (10) flashes green
during charging. If you would like to access the
content of a card in the microSD slot (9), the device
must be switched on before it is connected via USB.
The operating system automatically recognises the
device and a free drive letter is assigned. The power
indicator (10) then flashes orange and you can
access the content of the microSD card. In this
operating mode (USB audio mode) the device is
charging and the audio files on your PC or notebook
are output on the multi-function speaker.
Furthermore you can control the Windows® Media
Player with the buttons of the multi-function speaker.

Sound box; you can increase the size of the sound
box. To this purpose turn the upper section of the
multi-function speaker anti-clockwise until the locking
mechanism is released and the sound box is
enlarged. To reduce the size of the sound box, push
the multi-function speaker together and turn the
upper section clockwise until it locks in place.

MicroSD slot; you can play music from a microSD
card. To this purpose push a microSD card into the
slot (pointing towards the loudspeaker with the
contacts facing upwards) until it engages. To remove
the card, press the microSD card lightly. The card is
ejected slightly and can be pulled out.

Eyelet; provided for attachment of a strap (not
supplied).
Take care when using headphones.
Listening at full volume for prolonged
periods of time can damage you
hearing.

Cleaning
Remove all connected devices before cleani ng
the speaker. The multi-function speaker and a
connected device can otherwise become damaged.
If soiled, clean the device with a dry cloth, and moisten
the cloth slightly to remove stubborn dirt. Do not use
any solvents, corrosive or gaseous cleaning agents.
Ensure that no moisture penetrates the housing.
Disposal of old devices
The product bears the symbol of a crossed-out
wheelie bin. It is therefore subject to the
European Directive 2002/96/EC.
All old electrical and electronic devices must be
separated from normal household waste and dispose d
of at designated state facilities. For further inf ormation
contact your local authorities, waste disposal off ice or
the shop where you bought the device.
The integrated battery cannot be removed for disposal.
Legal stipulations
The multi-function speaker meets all relevant
standards in relation to CE conformity. Compliance
with these standards is no longer guara nteed in the
event of unauthorised modifications to the multifunction speaker.
If you are not using the device within the Federal
Republic of Germany, you must observe the
regulations and laws in the country of use.
