Prerequisites 1
Purpose 1
This instruction describes how to dril l a keyi ng hole in a biopsy unit, belonging to a
Mammomat 3000 with serial no. 6849 or lower, so that it can be used with a Mammomat
3000/3000 Nova with serial no. from 6850.
Tools required 1
• Standard tool kit
• Drilling machine
• Set of drills containing a 8 mm drill
Time require d 1
Approximately 1 h for 1 person.

• While dismounting do not use excessive f orce or the object table top might be da maged

1. Remove the four screws holding the front edge of the object table top.
2. Carefully lift the front edge of the object table top to reveal the four s crew
placed behind it.
Do not use excessive force or the object table top
might be damaged.
Remove the revealed screws, the two nuts and t he two guiding pins.
3. Remove the bottom plate by unscrewing the eig ht remaining screws:
- Two screws at either side of the biopsy uni t.
- Four screws at the bottom of the biopsy uni t.

2 - 2 Procedure
4. Drill a 8 mm keying hole in the biopsy unit. The distance shall be 23 mm from the
top and 60 mm from the connector (Fig. 2). Fig. 3 can be used as a drilling
template .

5. Remove all metal chips .
6. Reassemble the biopsy unit.
7. Check that the biopsy unit fits a Mammomat wi th serial no. from 6850.
