General note 1

The new electronic scrap regulation that is in preparation requires manufacturers of elec­tronic systems and units to dispose of hazardous substances in their units and systems, the disposal of hazardous substances in the unit and also when replacing problematic substances during operation.
The product-related list of hazardous substances on Page 2 - 1 of this instruction gives you an outline concerning parts and components that have to be disposed of. The dis­posal notes and the graphics on Page 2 - 1 will help you find problematic substances in the system.
The disposal notes of the present instructions are valid when scrapping a unit replacing environmentally relevant components and parts.

WARNING
Switch off the entire system when working on the OPDIMAr system and ensure that it cannot be switched on inadvertently during the procedure.
Laser products are not allowed to be operated without the appropriate housing.
Do not look into the laser beam directly or at its reflection on smooth, mirror-like surfaces.

CCD-camera 3

Disassemble the CCD camera by removing screws.
Cover contains brass
Remove the CCD and the coated (CsI:Tl) fiber optic plate from the PC-board and pass it
on to an appropriated disposal company.
Dispose of the circuit board as normal electronic waste.
The cable contains PVC and should be disposed of accordingly.

Biopsy unit 3

Contains only material that can be handled as normal electronic waste.

Biopsy controller 3

Disconnect all cables and lift off the Biopsy controller from the back of the MAMMOMAT.
Contains only material that can be handled as normal electronic waste.

The cables contains PVC and should be disposed of accordingly.

Workstation 3

Hand the complete workstation, key-board, mouse and MO-drive to SONY or to an appropriate recycling company.

Workstation table 3

The tabletop and the framework do not contain any harmful material. They are made from MDF-board, aluminum and steel. (MDF-Medium density fiber).
The control system for the lifting device can be handled as normal electronic waste.
The cables contains PVC and should be disposed of accordingly.
