Before You Begin
Check the contents of the package for.
8K byte EEPROM (1771-DBMEM1) –or–
32K byte EEPROM (1771-DBMEM2)
If any items are missing, contact your local Allen-Bradley office.
Use this publication as a guide when installing this memory module into
the 1771-DB/B BASIC module.
Before you can install the memory module you must remove the 1771-DB
module from the I/O chassis and disassemble the module.
Refer to the BASIC Module User Manual (pub. no. 1771-6.5.113) for
disassembly instructions.
ATTENTION: To avoid damaging the module with
electrostatic discharge:
Wear an approved wrist-strap grounding device or touch a
grounded object to discharge yourself before
handling any equipment. (Note that the wrist
strap is not supplied with the module.)
Do not touch backplane connectors or
connector pins.
Attach this end
to a good earth
ground.

If you configure or replace internal components,
do not touch other circuit components inside the module.
When not in use, keep components in a static-shielded bag.

Installation Instructions

Install
the Memory Module
Follow these instructions to install your memory module.
1. Remove the BASIC module from the I/O chassis.
2. Disassemble the BASIC module to gain access to the memory
module sockets.
ATTENTION: Electrostatic discharge can damage integrated
circuits or semiconductors in the module of you touch
backplane connector pins. Wear a wrist-strap grounding device
and use a static-safe workstation, if available.

3. Insert the memory module into SKT1.
4. Reassemble the BASIC module.
