Carefully read the operating manual before placing the unit in service for the first
time. It contains useful tips and notes
such as hazard warnings to prevent
injury and material damage. Failure to
follow the directions in this manual can
result in endangerment to persons, the
environment and the equipment itself
and will void any claims for liability.
■ Keep this manual in the vicinity of the
units.
■ The units and components should be
set up and installed only by qualified
personnel.
■ The set-up, connection, and opera-
tion of the unit and its components
must be in accordance with the
operating conditions stipulated in this
manual and comply with all applicable
local regulations.
■ Modification of units and components
supplied by REMKO is not permitted
and can cause malfunctions.
■ Units and components may not be
operated in areas where there is an
increased risk of damage. Observe
the minimum clearances.
■ The electrical supply is to be adapted
to the requirements of the units.
■ The operational safety of units and
components is only assured if they are
fully assembled and used as intended.
Safety devices may not be modified
or bypassed.
■ Do not operate units or components
with obvious defects or signs of damage.
■ The units and components must be
kept at a safe distance from inflammable, explosive, combustible,
aggressive and dirty areas or atmospheres.
■ Installation, repair and maintenance
work may be carried out only by authorised specialists. Visual inspections
and cleaning can be performed by the
operator as long as power is disconnected from the equipment.
■ To preclude any danger from the unit,
take appropriate hazard-prevention
measures when performing installation, repair or maintenance work or
cleaning the units.

Environmental protection and recycling
Disposing of packaging
All products are packed for transport
in environmentally friendly materials.
You can make a valuable contribution
to reducing waste and sustaining raw
materials by only disposing of packaging
at approved collection points.
Disposal of
components
The manufacturing process for the
units is subject to continuous quality control. Only high-grade materials are
processed, the majority of which
are recyclable. You can also
contribute to environmental protection by only disposing of components
in accordance with local regulations and
in an environmentally safe manner, e.g.
through authorised disposal and recycling
specialists or at collection
points.
Description
The three-way switching valve controls
the flow of domestic water or a separate
cooling circuit (four pipe system).
It is comprised of an electrical actuator
and a hydraulic lower section.
Due to its shape, the installed cylindrical
gate valve allows the medium to be redirected in a way which is not dependent on the differential pressure.
This gate valve is controlled by an actuator.
The gate valve can also be operated
manually via a lever located on the plastic housing.
This makes it possible to also operate
the three-way switching valve by hand,
without the electric motor.
The housing consists of corrosion-resistant gunmetal (bronze).
The connections have a 1" external
thread on both the inlet and outlet
sides.

The warranty conditions are listed in the
"General terms and conditions".

REMKO THREE-WAY SWITCHING VALVE
Operation
Mode of operation
All the moving parts and all valve gaskets
are incorporated into a cartridge.
The outer surface of the piston has Orings which guarantee that the paths are
hermetically sealed.
If the valve rod is down, flow path B is
blocked, and the flow passes through the
openings of the cylindrical gate valve,
taking the route "A" and "AB".
If, on the other hand, the valve rod is up
(outlet position), then flow path "A" is
blocked and the flow takes the route "B"
and "AB".
Switching between the two flow
directions takes approx. 6 seconds.
Control of the flow direction
Valve pin down
Flow direction: A<->AB
Manual adjustment of the lever (attached
to the side of the actuator) is only possible if it is pointing up.
If this is the case, push it firmly down and
inwards until it engages in the central
position. In this position, the three-way
switching valve is opened in flow direction "A" to "B" (and vice-versa). Manual
actuation of the valve is useful when
the line system is being refilled, drained
or bled, but also if the electric motor is
no longer functional (e.g. due to power
failure).
By gently pushing and pulling the lever, it
is possible to move the valve back into its
original "locked position".
When the three-way switching valve is
reconnected to the power supply after
a power cut, the actuator and the valve
return to the automatic position.

Installation
NOTE
Installation may only be performed
by authorised specialists.
NOTE
Do not use any boiler accessories,
soldering material or wet materials of a mineral oil basis, or which
contain mineral oil, hydrocarbon or
ethylene glycol acetate.
If diluted with at least 50% water,
diethylene glycol, ethylene glycol
and propylene glycol can be used
(anti-freeze agent).
Installation
The unit can be installed basically independent of position. However, wherever
possible, the actuator should not be
installed upside down.
■Slide the lever into the "Open flow"
position, so that the system can first
be flushed.
If the flow of water is to be redirected, install the system such that the flow enters
through valve opening "AB" and exits
through valve opening "A" or "B".
In mixed systems, install the three-way
switching valve such that the water
enters through valve opening "A" or "B"
and exits through valve opening "AB".
■Fit the three-way switching valve
right to the pipe itself.
■During installation of the pipes, do
not grasp or hang on tothe actuator.
■Remove the actuator with the protec-
tive cover. This will simplify installation.
■Allow for approx. 25 mm of space so
the servo motor can be reinstalled.
! CAUTION
All connections must be made with
the unit in a de-energised state
(electrical system).
■Steady the three-way switching valve
with your hand and tighten the pipe
connection with an open-ended
spanner or steady the valve with an
open-ended spanner and tighten the
pipe connection with an adjustable
spanner
(see diagrams on following page).

REMKO THREE-WAY SWITCHING VALVE
Installing the three-way switching
valve
Replacing the actuator
When replacing the actuator, it is not
necessary to drain all the water from the
system, as the valve together with the
cartridge remain in the pipe during the
process.
! CAUTION
The replacement of the actuator must
take place in a de-energised state
(electrical system). Also disconnect
the main connection to the actuator.
To replace the actuator, proceed as follows:
1. Press the latching mechanism, which
is located right under the lever,
upwards with your thumb (the head
of the actuator is automatically engaged into the valve body).
NOTE
If clamping the three-way switching valve, you must ensure that the
raised "H" logo attached to the
valve body is not clamped between
the jaws! Otherwise there is a risk
that the valve will be deformed by
clamping, thus becoming unusable.
6
2. At the same time, gently push the
actuator downwards by hand and
turn it anticlockwise through approx.
45 degrees.
3. Lift the actuator out of the valve
body.
4. Fit the replacement actuator. To do
this, proceed in the opposite order to
removal.
Please note that if the actuator is to be
installed at a right angle to the valve
body, the latching mechanism with not
work.
NOTE
Installation may only be performed
by authorised specialists.
Electrical connection
Removing the servo motor
! CAUTION
All electrical installation work is to
be performed by specialist companies. Disconnect the power supply
when connecting the electrical terminals.
Mode of operation
The three-way switching valve is actuated externally via a single pole.
If there is a demand for hot water, the
control system closes the N contact,
which supplies the relay, which then in
turn closes the NO contact (microswitch
C3).
This closes path "B" and opens path
"A".
When path "A" is fully open, this closes
the cams of microswitch C1 and opens
microswitch C2.
At the end of the demand for hot water,
the N contact is opened by the control
system, meaning that the supply to the
relay stops and the NC contact (microswitch C3) is closed.
This closes path "A" and opens path
"B".
As soon as path "A" is fully closed, the
cams close microswitch C2 and open
microswitch C1. The three-way switching valve is ready for the next period of
hot water demand.
