IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:

1. Read all instructions.

2. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.

3. To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse cord, plugs and Rice Cooker in water or other liquid.

4. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.

5. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts.

6. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner.

Return appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair, or adjustment.

7. The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.

8. Do not use outdoors.

9. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.

10. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.

11. Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquids.

12. Turn controls off ﬁrst, then plug cord into the wall outlet.

To disconnect, turn any control to “off”, then remove plug from wall outlet.

13. Do not use appliance for other than intended use.

14. Do not immerse in water or expose to splashing water. Unplug rst, then wipe with a damp cloth. Wipe dry.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Please be sure to follow these instructions.

In order to prevent accidents or injuries to the user, other people, and damage to property, please follow the instructions below.

The following charts indicate the degree of damage caused by wrong operation.

Warning Indicates serious injury or death.

Caution Indicates risk of injury or property damage if the appliance was mishandled.

The symbols are classied and explained as follows.

This symbol indicates prohibition.

This symbol indicates requirement that must be followed.

Discontinue using appliance immediately when abnormal or malfunction occurs.

lt may cause smoke, re or electric shock. Examples of abnormal or malfunction:

The Power Plug and / or the Power Cord becomes abnormally hot. The Power Cord is damaged or power to the unit fails when touched. The main body is deformed or abnormally hot. The unit wobbles, has cracks or loose parts.

Unplug the appliance and refer servicing to authorized personnel.

Do not use the appliance if the Power Cord or Power Plug is damaged or loosely connected to the power outlet.

lt may cause an electric shock, short circuit or re.

This appliance is not intended for use by persons (Including children) with reduced

physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

It may cause a burn or injury.

Do not get your face or hands close to the Lid or steam vent, or touch it with your hand. Keep the

appliance out of reach of children.

WARNING

Do not damage the Power Cord and do not attempt to repair it yourself if it is damaged.

Do not damage the Power Cord. Never attempt to customize the Power Cord. Keep the Power Cord away from high temperatures. Avoid bending, twisting and pulling on the Power Cord. Never place heavy objects on the Power Cord or attempt to tie it up.

Make sure the voltage supplied to the appliance is 120 Volts AC. Otherwise it may

cause electrical shock or re.

Sharing the same outlet or same branch circuit with other appliances may cause an overload.

Do not immerse the appliance in water.

If water enters into the unit base, do not use it. It may cause shorting or electrical shock.

If the appliance develops a problem, refer servicing to authorized personnel.

Do not plug or unplug the Power Plug with wet hands.

It may cause an electric shock.

Do not modify, disassemble or repair the appliance.

It may cause a re, electric shock or injury.

Refer servicing to authorized personnel.

Insert the Power Plug rmly. Do not use a damaged Power Plug or loose power outlet.

It may cause an electric shock or re as a result of overheating generated at the Power Plug.

Do not insert metal objects such as pins, needles or other foreign objects in the steam vent or any portion of the unit.

It may cause an electrical shock or abnormal operation, leading or injury.

Wipe off any dust that has gathered on the Power Plug regularly.

Excessive dust on the Power Plug may cause poor insulation due to humidity, which in turn may cause a re. Remove the Power Plug and wipe it with a dry cloth.

If the power supply cord or plug is damaged, discontinue use of the appliance. Refer servicing to authorized

personnel.

(Otherwise, it may cause a re, electric shock or injury.)

CAUTION

Do not use the appliance on the following places.

Where it may be splashed with water or near a heat source. It may cause an electric shock,

or re.

On uneven surface or a non-heat-resistant carpet. It may cause a burn, injury or re.

Near a wall, furniture or direct sunlight. It may cause discoloration or deformation.

Do not expose the Power Plug or cord to steam.

It may cause deterioration over time, which can lead to a short circuit or electric shock.

Be sure to grasp the Power Plug when unplugging.

Otherwise it may cause an electric shock, short circuit or re.

Please allow the appliance to cool down before cleaning it or storing it.

Touching hot elements may cause a burn.

Take extra care handling the appliance, especially while the pan has liquids in it. Remove contents before

cleaning it or transporting it.

Otherwise it may cause a burn or injury.

Unplug the Power Plug from the power outlet when the appliance is not in use.

Do not disassemble the appliance. There are no user serviceable parts inside. Exposure to energized parts

will lead to electric shock or injury.

Use only the specied pan. Use of a non-specied pan can cause personal injury due to a malfunction.

Never leave the appliance connected to the outlet when not in use. The inside of the body can overheat if

the appliance is plugged in while the pan is removed (the appliance defaults to the “Keep Warm” mode).

USAGE PRECAUTIONS

Before using the Rice Cooker for the rst time, remove the Scoop and Measuring Cup from the Pan and

the packing paper kept between the Pan and the Heater.

Make sure the Pan is sitting properly in the Body. Keep the outside of the Pan and the Heater clean and

dry. If the Pan is not positioned correctly or has any foreign matter between the Pan surface and the Heater, the Switch may pop up before cooking is complete and the heater may be damaged. Do not use unit if it has foreign matter such as rice or other debris between the heater and the pan.

The Pan should not be caught on the ledge above the Heater.

Note: This Rice Cooker has been designed with a thermal fuse which may shut off the electric supply when any abnormality occurs (as mentioned above).

When cooking products other than rice, ensure that the Lid is removed to prevent overow.

Do not use the Pan directly on the open ame.

Do not press or hold down the Switch continuously by force or wedge any foreign object into the mechanism

to prevent the Switch from popping up. Doing so will damage the unit and render it inoperable.

For both inner and outer surface of fhe Pan

Do not hit or rub the surfaces of the Pan.

Do not wash with cleaner, scrubbing brush or nylon brush.

Do not drop the pan or bang it on a hard surface as this may dent or damage the pan.

Do not wash dishes inside the Pan.

Do not use metal utensils, such as spoons or forks in the pan. Doing so may damage the coating.

Do not mix vinegar in the Pan when making sushi rice.

Do not use whisk to wash rice.

Do not use a metal ladle to scoop out rice as it may damage the coating on the pan.

Wash the Pan immediately after cooking if seasoning was used.

Any residue of vinegar or salt may cause the Pan to corrode.

Prevent insects and cockroaches from entering the electrical portion of the Rice Cooker by keeping it clean.

Do not use the Rice Cooker if the Pan is dented or damaged as it may permanently damage the heater.

Get in touch with your store or an authorized service center.

HOW TO USE

Measure rice with the provided Measuring Cup. 1 cup of uncooked rice makes approximately 2 cups of cooked rice. Rice should be level with the brim of the Measuring Cup as gure shown on the right.

Wash ( rinse ) rice in a separate bowl several times until water becomes relatively clear.

Transfer rinsed rice to the rice cooker pan.. Refer to the markings on the pan and add water.

e.g To cook 6 cups of rice, put the rice into the pan and then add water to the LEVEL INDICATOR 6

Adjust water quantity to your taste.

Set the Pan in the Rice Cooker. Position the Pan properly on the heater

by turning the Pan gently to the right and left. Cover with the Lid and let rice soak approximately 30 minutes.

Plug in the Rice Cooker. The Power indicator lamp will light

Do not plug in until ready to cook.Otherwise, the Rice Cooker will turn into “Keep Warm” function and rice may be spoiled.

If you do not set the Pan in the Rice Cooker, the Switch cannot be pressed.

Press the Switch. The "cooking" indicator ( orange ) will indicate that cooking has started.

MAX. LEVEL : Do not cook more than this amount.

When rice is done, the Switch will pop up. The “Keep Warm” indicator changes to orange to signal “Keep

Warm” function is working.

After the Switch pops up, leave the Lid covered for at least 15 minutes to steam rice.

Then mix the rice well by using the Scoop to allow water vapour to escape (especially when cooking towards maximum quantity).

Unplug after use by Grasping the Power Plug. DO NOT UNPLUG BY PULLING ON THE POWER CORD.

HOW TO USE 2 DISH SEPARATOR

Separator

Pan

The 2 Dish Separator is a shallow pan, which can be placed on the Pan enabling you to cook 2 dishes at the same time. The gures above show you how to set the 2 Dish Separator.

COOKING

Vegetables, quick cooking pulses, sprouts, sh, marinated chicken etc., can be cooked in the 2 Dish Separator while cooking 2 to 5 cups of rice in the Pan.

STEAMING

You can use the 2 Dish Separator for steaming vegetables and other steam cooking dishes. To use as a steamer, pour 1 or 2 cups of water in the Pan of the Rice Cooker. When the water in the Pan starts boiling, place the 2 Dish Separator on the Pan. Switch off the Rice Cooker manually when the dish is done.

WARMING To use as a food warmer, place the food to be heated over the boiling water in the Pan for 5 to 10 minutes. You can also do this when some other dish is being cooked in the Pan.

HOW TO STEAM FOODS

(Applicable for SR-Y18FGJ / SR-Y22FGJ)

Add water to the Pan and insert the Pan into the Body.

Place the Steaming Basket on the Pan. Add food into the Steaming Basket. (Place it on a dish if required).

Cover the Rice Cooker with the Lid.

Plug in and press the Switch. The orange “Cooking” indicator shows you steaming has started.

Time the cooking manually. *Once the water has boiled off, the rice cooker will switch to the “Keep Warm” mode and steaming will stop. * Remember that foods can continue to steam IF additional water is added at this point in time. Just add more water to

the Pan and press the cook button. The unit will then continue to steam until the water evaporates at which time the cook switch will switch to the “Keep Warm” mode.

Turn off the rice cooker by unplugging it from the outlet.

After steaming has completed, remove foods, then the Steaming Basket, and then nally pour off water.

KEEP WARM FUNCTION

After cooking is completed, the “Keep Warm” function automatically works until the cord is unplugged. Always unplug before taking the Pan out of the Rice Cooker. Do not switch to “Cooking” again during “Keep Warm” function. Do not keep rice warm for more then 5 hours. Do not use the “Keep Warm” function to reheat cold rice.

HOW TO CLEAN

Unplug before cleaning. Do not immerse the Rice Cooker in water or any other liquid. Wipe with a well-wrung cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or steel wool.

Clean with non-metalic brush or sponge.

Please use a dry cloth to gently clean the heater.

Unusual noise

PRÉCAUTIONS D’USAGE

Avant d’utiliser le cuiseur à riz pour la première fois, retirez la spatule et le verre doseur de la casserole

ainsi que le papier d’emballage situé entre la casserole et l’élément chauffant.

UTILISATION

Mesurez le riz à l’aide du verre doseur fourni. Avec un verre de riz non cuit, on obtient environ 2 verres de riz cuit. Nivelez le riz avec le bord du verre doseur tel qu’illustré sur le schéma. Lavez le riz dans un autre bol jusqu’à ce que l’eau devienne relativement claire.

Mettez le riz lavé dans la casserole. Référez-vous aux marques sur la casserole.

Par exemple, pour la cuisson de 6 verres de riz, mettez le riz dans la casserole et ajoutez de l’eau jusqu’à l’INDICATEUR DE NIVEAU 6.

Ajustez la quantité d’eau à votre convenance.

Ne branchez la che que lorsque la casserole est prête pour la cuisson. Sinon, le cuiseur à riz basculera à la fonction « Keep Warm » (Garde-au-chaud).

Si vous ne vous xez pas la casserole dans le cuiseur à riz, l’interrupteur ne pourra être enfoncé.

Appuyez sur l’interrupteur. L’indicateur de cuisson « Cooking »(Orange) indique le début de la cuisson.

L’interrupteur remontera lorsque le riz est cuit. L’indicateur de la fonction « Keep Warm » (Garde-au-

chaud) passe à la couleur orange pour indiquer que celle-ci est activée.

Après que l’interrupteur est remonté, laissez le couvercle fermé pendant au moins 15 minutes pour laisser

le riz baigner dans la vapeur.

Puis, mélangez le riz en utilisant la spatule pour permettre à la vapeur de s’échapper (surtout lors de la cuisson à la quantité maximale).

Débranchez après utilisation. Tirez sur la che d’alimentation, et non sur le cordon d’alimentation.
