H. DESCRIPTION OF MECHANISM C-150/D-390
C-150/D-390 is a 2.11Mega pixels DSC (Digital Still Camera). ASIC consists of ARM7TDMI RISC processor and TI
Main processor: TMS320DSC21
Code memory: Flash memory (firmware stored)
Front-end: Array sensor, AFE (Analog Front End), TG (Timing Generator) and VD (Vertical Driver)
User Interface: Key, LED
Display devices: TFT LCD module, Video out (NTSC/PAL supported)
Lighting device: Flash lamp module
Image buffer: SDRAM
Image storage media: xD card interface
Communication port: USB 1.1
Mechanical devices: AF motor, mechanical shutter
Power supply: DC-DC converter (PWM controlled)
These modules provide separate functions to perform complete DSC features which not only capture pictures,
but also help end-users to use the camera. The brief functionalities of each block are followings:
Array CCD: The analog signal from CCD is changed into a digital signal.
AFE (Analog Front End): Generation of the timing for operating CCD arrangement.
TG (Timing Generator): Generates some dedicated timings to operate array CCD.
VD (Vertical Driver): A digital level signal is changed into a CCD driver signal.
TMS320DSC21: Color image processing
KEY: Accept the inputs from users
LED: A status display and the situation of a camera of operation are transmitted to a user.
SHUTTER: To block lights from array CCD when take images.
AF MODULE: Auto-Focus mechanism.
USB: Communicate with a host to transfer pictures
FLASH MEMORY: Codes were stored to command ASIC to operate the necessary functions.
FLASH LAMP: Lighten the object.
xD CARD SLOT: Store the grabbed images. This external memory card lets users can save more pictures.
SDRAM: Processing and storing of a picture.
TFT LCD MODULE: Display the image camera sees or play back the captured pictures.
It is also a graphic user interface
TV OUT: Output a video signal (NTSC or PAL format) to a TV set.
RTC: Control of a date and time.
