1. OVERVIEW
1.1 INTRODUCTION
The system described in this manual is a web cash able to operate as stand-alone and integrated in complex
architectures.
The main requirements of the reference environment include high level customization of retail and
management activities and generally highly flexible configuration of the appliances for insertion in the
management system.
The system uses a PC type architecture with standard operating system, open to use of specialized front-store
or back-office packages. This module manages the operator interface and the setting of sales commands sent
to the fiscal module (if any) to carry out management or data transfer operations towards auxiliary devices that
may be integrated or external to the product.
In the basic configuration, the operator interface consists of the integrated LCD display, with touch screen
device. Other peripherals or other I/O devices may be integrated according to the type of operativity of the
specific environment.

1.2.1 General view
The Explor@ 100 system has been designed so that all the components necessary for system functioning
(CPU, RAM and various boards) are located immediately behind the LCD display module with touch screen.
The base module must separated from the supporting base in order to operate on these components.

2. INSTALLATION
2.1 INTRODUCTION
This chapter provides the information required for correct installation of the system by a specialized technician.
NOTE: Before using the product, read this section carefully.
2.1.1 General warnings
This paragraph provides a number of warnings to be complied with for correct, safe use of the system.
• Before connecting the system to the mains, make sure that the voltage matches that of the system.
• Use the cord provided to connect the system to the mains.
• Do not install the system in dusty, damp environments or those affected by mechanical vibrations, close
to sources of heat or of strong electro-magnetic disturbances.
• Make sure that the cooling fan air intake is not obstructed.
• Do not clean the system with abrasive substances or solvents.

2.4 START-UP
A
To start the Explor@ 100 system, proceed as follows:
• Make the connections to the peripherals (if necessary).
• Connect the power cord.
• Press button A.

• For products with pre-installed Operating System, at initial start-up of the system, the "installation
procedure" (in English) is started. You will be asked to activate the pre-installed Operating System using
the Windows Authenticity Certificate. The Authenticity Certificate number is printed on a label in the
underlying part of the related system. Activation is possible either via Internet or telephone. Each unit is
furnished with two CD-ROMs with Operating System to be used in the case in which restore is necessary.
• For products without pre-installed Microsoft Operating System, a small adhesive label is attached with the
slightly different product name consisting of the standard name followed by the suffix “-X”
(Explor@ 100-X).

2.6 INSTALLATION OF THE EPSON STANDARD CASH DRAWER
An Epson Standard cash drawer can be installed using the dedicated ports (CD1 and CD2).
To operate on the configurations of the BIOS; a keyboard must be connected.
To avoid modifications by unauthorized personnel, it is advisable to set a password for operations on the BIOS
(on start-up of the machine, press “CANC” to access the screen page and select the command “Set user
password”) .

2.8 DRIVER INSTALLATION
The Explor@ 100 system is equipped with the Microsoft Windows XP Professional Operating System which
may be pre-installed or not, as required by the customer.
If the operating system is pre-installed, it is not necessary to install any system driver on initial start-up of the
machine.
An external CD ROM player must be connected to install the drivers.
2.8.1 List of available drivers
WARNING! To facilitate installation of system drivers, it is advisable to use a mouse and keyboard.
• Insert the “Drivers Bank V1.1” CD containing the drivers for the Explor@ series models in an external CDROM player.
• The screen page containing the list of all the drivers available for Explor@ models will be displayed in
auto-run mode.

2.8.2 Installation of the Chipset driver
To install the Chipset driver, proceed as follows:
• Insert the “Drivers Bank V1.1” CD containing the drivers for Explor@ series models in the CD-ROM
player and wait for it to start automatically.
• Select the “Chipset” link for the model concerned.
• Click on the “infinst_enu_6.0.1.1002” icon and follow the instructions to proceed with installation.

3. PART DISASSEMBLY/RE-ASSEMBLY
3.1 INTRODUCTION
This chapter describes all the procedures necessary to disassemble and replace the main modules of the
Explor@ 100 system.
These procedures describe the operations to be carried out in field by service personnel for correct system
maintenance.
WARNING! Before disassembling the modules, switch off the system and pull out the power cable
from the current outlet.

3.11 REPLACEMENT OF THE RAM
To replace the Ram proceed as follows:
• Remove the supporting base and the rear cover as described previously.
• Lift and move the rear housing as described previously, taking care not to damage the wiring.
• Separate tabs A and lift the RAM bank as indicated in the figure.
• Extract the bank

3.12 REMOVAL OF THE INVERTER BOARD

To remove the inverter board proceed as follows:
• Remove the supporting base and the rear cover as described previously.
• Lift and move the rear housing as described previously, taking care not to damage the wiring.
• Disconnect connections A of the inverter board.
• Loosen screws B.
• Extract the inverter board.

3.14 REMOVAL OF THE TOUCH SCREEN AND LCD DISPLAY

To remove the touch screen and the LCD display proceed as follows:
• Remove the supporting base and the rear cover as described previously.
• Lift and move (or remove) the rear housing disconnecting all the connections to the motherboard, as
described previously.
• Disconnect the connections of touch screen A, badge reader B, status LED C and LCD interface D.
• Remove the four screws E to separate the LCD panel from the touch screen.
