NAD S500
MODIFICATION
PROBLEM:
You may receive a unit which doesn’t accept a few specific CDs. Usually displaying err or several 7s in
the display.
CAUSE:
The discs are badly manufactured and are outside the Philips Red Book standard. They will sometimes
play on other players. The nature of the defects is usually incorrect pit length, poor refraction of the disc
coating, excessive jitter etc.
SOLUTION:
A small kit has been developed to make the player accept discs that are outside the standard specification.
This kit is available under partnumber:
S500-modi kit
and will cost $ 5,-
Note: this change will NOT enable the S500 to play discs that are unplayable due to extreme physical
damage such as scratches and other surface marks. The playability rating of the player does not change
only the disc acceptance window.
PRODUCTION:
This modification will be implemented in production, there is no serial number information known at this
moment.

PROBLEM: It is possible that recently delivered S500I product has incorrect
fuse type fitted .
CAUSE: It is a fast blow instead of a slow blow time delay fuse which may be
present.
SOLUTION: To prevent premature fuse failure please change the incorrect
fuse to the correct fuse. The current and voltage rating is the same. See below
for correct type.
Incorrect type - F250mA 250v or 250mA 250v
Correct type - T250mA 250v (Time Delay/Slow Blow)
