What is a 5324 IP TSG Phone?
The 5324 TSG phone is a standard Mitel 5324 IP Phone that meets the Committee on
National Security Systems (CNSS), formerly know as Telephone Security Group (TSG),
requirements for a Class B secure electronic telephone.
For information on the special features of this phone, see the other side of this guide.
Make a Call
v Lift the handset.
s Dial the number, or
t Press a Speed Call key, or
Conference a Call (while on a call)
r Press .
s Dial the number. Wait for an answer.
r Press .
r Press , or
s Dial the prefix for external calls (e.g. 9) and
the number.
Program a Speed Call Key
r Press .
Answer a Call
v Lift the handset.
o Press No until Personal Keys? appears.
o Press Ye s.
t Press a Personal Key.
End a Call
r Press , or
v Replace the handset.
o Press Change.
o Press Ye s for Speed Call?
s Dial the number, or
r Press (to redial the last number).
Place a Call on Hold
r Press .
The line key flashes.
o Press Priv to make the number private.
o Press Save.
r Press .
v Replace the handset if necessary.
Retrieve a Call from Hold
v Lift the handset, or
t Press the flashing line key.
Retrieve a Message
r Press . The key flashes when a
message is waiting.
Follow the voice mail prompts to retrieve
your message.
Transfer a Call (while on a call)
Adjust Volume Levels
Adjust ringer volume while the phone is
ringing. Adjust handset or speaker volume
while using the handset or speaker.
q Press repeatedly to raise the volume,
or repeatedly to lower the volume.
q Press to mute the handset. See the 5312/
5324 IP Phone User Guide for details.
r Press .
s Dial the number. Wait for an answer.
v Hang up, or announce transfer and hang up.

About this Document
This document describes the operation of the Mitel 5324 IP TSG Phone. It also provides
information about using the telephone with peripheral devices.
5324 IP TSG Phone Operation
The 5324 IP TSG Phone operates like the standard Mitel 5324 IP Phone, except for the
following features. For more information, refer to the 5312/5324 IP Phone User Guide
located at www.mitel.com, or contact your Administrator.
Handsfree Operation
Handsfree operation is not supported. This means that the Handsfree microphone has been
removed.
Headset Operation
Headset operation is not supported. This means the headset jack is not provided.
On-hook Dialing
On-hook dialing is supported; however, you must pick up the handset to speak to the called
party.
Call Announce
The Call Announce feature is supported; however, you must pick up the handset to speak to
the calling party.

Off-Hook Indication
The large Message Waiting/Ringing lamp indicator at the top of the 5324 IP TSG Phone also
lights up when the user goes off hook.
Paging
The phone must be idle (on hook) in order to receive a Direct Page or Group Page.
Using the 5324 IP TSG Phone with Peripheral Devices
The 5324 IP TSG Phone supports the IP PKM module that provides connectivity between
the IP phone and one or two Programmable Key Modules. Any other modules, such as the
Conference Module, Cordless Module and Line Interface Module are not supported.
