Basic Phone Features Customizing Your Phone

PLACING A CALL
Using the Handset:
1. Pick up the handset and dial the desired number. Press Dial Speed Button key to connect call.
2. Or press a Speed Call key
or (Redial) and dial the number. Press Dial Speed Button key to connect call.
Using the hands-free Speakerphone:
1. With the handset on-hook press
(speaker button). Dial the desired number. Press Dial Speed Button key to connect call.
Using the optional Headset:
Insert the headset jack into the Headset
port located on the back of the IP phone.
When using a headset, press to connect to or disconnect from calls. The
Headset icon appears when the headset is in use. You cannot use the handset or speakerphone when the IP phone is in Headset Mode. Disconnecting the headset automatically enables the handset.
ANSWERING A CALL
Using the Handset:
1. Pick up the handset.
Using the Speakerphone:
1. Press and press the flashing line key.
ENDING A CALL
1. Press or replace the handset.
MICROPHONE MUTE
1. To mute the phone microphone, speaker, or headset microphone press
The other party cannot hear you.
2. Press (microphone mute button) again to unmute and resume audio.
CALL HOLD AND RESUME
1. During a call press the hold button
to place the call on hold. The
line key flashes.
2. The caller on hold will hear Music or Message on hold if enabled on your system. Replace the handset if necessary.
3. To retrieve the call on hold, lift the
handset or press and press the flashing line key to re-establish the call.
LOCAL CONFERENCE CALLS
To create a three-way local conference call:
1. You can create a conference with two other parties using the phones local conferencing feature.
2. During an active call, press to create a new call.
3. The active call is placed on hold and the caller will hear Music or Message on hold if enabled on your system.
4. Dial the phone number of the second party and press Dial Speed Button key to connect call.
5. When the second party answers,
press again to join all parties in the Conference.
To leave a conference, hang up or
press .
Use the Star2Star Conference room feature for larger conferences.
CALL TRANSFER
To Transfer an active call:
1. During a call press .
2. The caller on hold will hear Music or Message on hold if enabled on your system.
3. Dial the number you want to transfer the call to then either hang up or announce the transfer.
4. To cancel the Transfer,
press (Cancel).
CALL FORWARDING
To enable call forwarding:
1. Press . Scroll through menu. When Features displays, press OK soft key.
2. Scroll to CALL FORWARDING and press OK soft key.
3. Select FWD ALWAYS, FWD NO ANSWER, FWD BUSY On/Off.
4. Press OK and TurnOn or TurnOff option.
5. Press Review to enter number to forward calls to. Press Change to enter a different forwarding number. Press Save to configure changes.
Use the Star2Star Find-Me / Follow-Me feature found in the Star2Star Web Portal Individual Phone Settings section.

REDIAL
1. To redial the last number you manually dialed, lift the handset or
press . Press redial button to connect call.
DO NOT DISTURB
1. Press DND Speed Button key.
2. The DND line will illuminate.
3. “DND ON” appears in the LCD display.
4. Press the DND Speed Button Key to turn off the feature.
(Note) callers will be directed to Voice Mail or the Star2Star Find-Me / Follow­Me feature if invoked.
VOICE MAIL
1. The indicator at the top of the phone will flash when new message(s) are waiting. A message
envelope icon will appear against your extension number in the phone display.
2. To listen to voice messages press
the button or dial 1000.
3. The system will prompt for your password.
(Note) when accessing the voice mail system for the first time your password is your extension #. Change your password to a number other than your extension number e.g. a 4-digit number you can recall easily.
DIRECTORY
The Company Extension Directory is automatically downloaded to the phone.
1. To access the Directory press the
Phone Book soft key or press
2. Select Phone Book and press OK.
Scroll through entries using or keys.
Personal Address Book
1. Press scroll to PHONEBOOK and press OK soft key. Press the AddNew soft key to add personal address entries.
2. Press Yes to add new Address and Press Submit. Do the same for entering Name.
3. Press the keys to scroll through the entries in the address book. Press Dial soft key to call the desired entry. You may edit, cancel or delete an entry by pressing the Change soft key.
Directory
The corporate extension directory is automatically downloaded to the phone.
1. Press the Phone Book soft key. The Company Directory is displayed.
2. Press the keys to scroll through the entries.
3. Use the navigation arrows to select the entry you require.
4. Press the Dial soft key to dial the entry you require.
SPEED DIALS
You can create speed dials assigned to a number, that, when pressed on the keypad, dials the number assigned to it.
1. Press scroll to PROGRAM MEMORY KEYS. Press OK.
2. Select an available soft key to assign a phone number.
3. Press Yes to MODIFY TO SPEED DIALKEY. Enter the phone number or extension to be assigned to that button. Press Save. , Cancel or <---- to edit entry.
4. To edit an existing speed dial or add
a new one, press . Scroll to
PROGRAM MEMORY KEYS. Press OK.
5. Select the previously assigned Speed Dial key. Press Edit to change the assigned number or extension. Or, press Delete to remove the assigned number from the Speed Dial key.
Press Save when edit or removal is completed.
To call one of your configured speed dial numbers:
Lift the handset or press and press the assigned speed dial key.
(Note) if your phone has been fitted with an expansion module(s) use the Star2Star Web Portal (https://portal.star2star.com) Individual Phone Settings / Speed Dials section to configure this device. Typically you would add local extensions to view their presence and allow one touch transfer of calls from your phone to that extension.
VOLUME ADJUSTMENT
1. Adjust ringer volume while the phone is ringing. Adjust handset or speaker volume while using the handset or
speaker. Press repeatedly to raise
the volume or repeatedly to lower the volume.
RING TYPE
1. Press . Scroll through Setup Menu. When Features displays, press OK soft key.
2. Press Next soft key until the Ringer Sounds category displays. Press OK soft key. Here you can set Ringer Volume or Ringer Pitch.
3. Select Yes or No and use and keys to select the desired Ring
Tone. Press Save soft key to keep
selected Ring Tone. Press Cancel soft key to change selection.
4. Use same procedure to adjust
Ringer Volume.
CALLER PICKUP
1. To pick up a call ringing a specific phone that is not ringing as part of a Ring Group, dial *8xxx (xxx being the extension of the ringing phone).
2. For example your neighbor’s phone extension 112 is ringing. You would dial *8112 to pickup that call.
3. To pick up a call on any ringing phone dial *8.
STAR2STAR CALL PARK AND RETRIEVE
1. With a call in progress press an open line soft key.
2. Press
3. Press the Park soft key.The caller will hear music or message on hold if configured on your system.
4. Press again.
5. Dial the retrieval code e.g. 7001 to retrieve the call.
