Correct use

This commercial dishwasher complies with all current local and national safety requirements. Inappropriate use can, however, lead to personal injury and material damage.
Read the operating instructions carefully before using the commercial dishwasher for the first time. They contain important information on the safety, use and maintenance of the machine. This way you will prevent the risk of accidents and damage to the commercial dishwasher. Keep these operating instructions in a safe place and pass them on to any future owner.
This Miele commercial dishwasher with its short programme dura-
tions and powerful cleaning performance is intended for commercial use. It can also be used on ships with a hull longer than 28 metres as well as on oil rigs.
The dishwasher is subsequently referred to as a dishwasher in
these operating instructions. Glasses, cutlery and crockery are referred to generally as crockery when not more specifically defined.
This dishwasher is not intended for continuous use. This dishwasher is not suitable for the reprocessing of medical
products or devices.
This machine is designed exclusively for use as a “dishwasher” for
cleaning loads as described in these instructions. Alterations or conversions to the machine, or using it for purposes other than those for which it was designed, are not permitted and could be dangerous. Miele cannot be held liable for damage resulting from incorrect or improper use or operation.
This dishwasher is intended for stationary, indoor use only. The special inserts should only be used for their specific applica-
tion.
10
Correct use
This dishwasher can only be used by people with reduced phys-
ical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience or knowledge, if they are supervised whilst using it or have been shown how to use it in a safe way and understand and recognise the consequences of incorrect operation.
This commercial dishwasher can only be used on a ship if:
– The ship’s hull is longer than 28metres.
– The list of the vessel is not more than 2°.
– Any external vibration is no more than 150Hz at an amplitude of
0.35mm.
The safe operation and correct functioning of the commercial dishwasher can only be guaranteed if the above conditions are met.
The door of the commercial dishwasher must not be opened dur-
ing operation.
Inappropriate use can lead to water leakage. The commercial dishwasher may not be operated on an open
deck.
The dishwasher is equipped with a special lamp to cope with par-
ticular conditions (e.g. temperature, moisture, chemical resistance, abrasion resistance and vibration). This special lamp must only be used for the purpose for which it is intended, i.e. lighting the wash cabinet. It is not suitable for room lighting. Replacement lamps may only be fitted by a Miele authorised person or by the Miele Customer Service Department.
11

Warning and Safety instructions

Correct installation

This commercial dishwasher may only be installed and assembled
on ships with a hull longer than 28metres by qualified persons who will ensure that the requirements for the safe installation of this commercial dishwasher are met.
When the commercial dishwasher is being installed, it must be
equipped with a mechanism that prevents the door opening accidentally while at sea.
When installing the commercial dishwasher, it must be securely
fixed to the floor. Failure to do this could result in personal injury, damage to the commercial dishwasher and damage to other objects and installations.
This commercial dishwasher must be securely bolted to the floor
using the supplied floor anchoring kit.
Do not install this dishwasher in an area where there is a risk of
explosion or freezing conditions.
Be careful before and while installing the dishwasher.
Wear protective gloves.
To ensure stability a built-under dishwasher must only be installed
beneath a continuous worktop that is bolted to the adjacent cabinetry.
In order to reduce the risk of damage from condensation, the fur-
niture in the surrounding area around the dishwasher should be suitably designed.
The door springs must be evenly adjusted on both sides. They are
correctly adjusted when the door remains stationary when left half open (approx. 45° opening angle). The door must not be allowed to fall open. The dishwasher must only be operated with properly adjusted door springs.
12
Warning and Safety instructions

Technical safety

This dishwasher must only be installed, commissioned, repaired
and maintained by Miele Professional Service or a suitably qualified service technician. Installation, repairs and other work by unqualified persons could be dangerous. Miele cannot be held liable for unauthorised work.
This dishwasher must only be operated by appropriately trained
personnel. They must be instructed and trained regularly.
Before using the dishwasher, check it for any externally visible
damage. Do not use a damaged dishwasher. This could be dangerous.
In the event of a damaged or leaking dishwasher, switch off at the
power supply immediately and call the Miele Customer Service Department, a Miele dealer or a suitably qualified service technician.
Faulty components must only be replaced by genuine Miele ori-
ginal spare parts. Only when these parts are fitted can Miele guarantee the correct functioning and safety of the appliance.
The electrical safety of this machine can only be guaranteed when
correctly earthed. If in any doubt, please have the electrical installation tested by a qualified electrician. Miele cannot be held liable for the consequences of an inadequate earthing system (e.g. electric shock).
Please follow the advice on installation in these instructions and
the separate Installation diagram.
Before connecting the appliance, ensure that the connection data
on the data plate (voltage, frequency and fuse rating) match the mains electrical supply.
There must be no electrical sockets behind the dishwasher.
Danger of overheating and fire risk if the dishwasher were to be pushed up against a plug. See “Electrical connection”.
13
Warning and Safety instructions
Do not connect the dishwasher to the mains electricity supply via
a multi-socket unit or an extension lead. These do not guarantee the required safety of the machine (e.g. danger of overheating).
Warning. Do not open the casing of the dishwasher. Any contact
with live connections or tampering with the electrical or mechanical components of the dishwasher will endanger your safety and may lead to machine malfunctions.
The dishwasher must not be used if the electrical connection
cable is damaged. A damaged connection cable may only be replaced by a suitable connection cable of the same type. For safety reasons, such replacement may only be carried out by the Miele Customer Service Department or a qualified service technician.
The dishwasher must be disconnected from the mains electricity
supply before any maintenance or repair work is carried out.
The plastic housing of the water connection contains electrical
components. It must not be dipped in water.
There are electrical wires in the water inlet hose. Do not shorten
the water inlet hose, even if it is too long.
The integrated Waterproof system offers protection from water
damage, provided that the following conditions are met:
– Installation has been carried out correctly.
– The dishwasher is properly maintained and parts are replaced
where it can be seen that this is necessary.
– The stopcocks have been turned off during longer periods of in-
activity (e.g. whilst on holiday).
The Waterproof system will work even when the dishwasher is switched off. However, the dishwasher must remain connected to the electricity supply.
14
Warning and Safety instructions

Correct use

This dishwasher is designed for operation with water and cleaning
agents suitable for use in commercial dishwashers only. Organic solvents and flammable liquid agents must not be used in it. This could cause an explosion, damage rubber or plastic components in the dishwasher and cause liquids to leak out of it.
Unsuitable cleaning agents could adversely affect components of
the dishwasher or the items being cleaned.
You could injure yourself on the open dishwasher door or trip over
it. Avoid leaving the door open unnecessarily.
Do not sit, stand or lean on the opened door. This would tip or
damage the dishwasher.
After any plumbing work the water pipework to the dishwasher will
need to be vented. If this is not done, components can be damaged.
Please be aware that the dishwasher may be operating at high
temperatures. When the door is opened there is a danger of burning or scalding. Items, baskets and inserts must be allowed to cool down before they are unloaded. Any water remaining in containers could still be very hot. Empty them into the wash chamber before taking them out.
The water in the cabinet must not be used as drinking water.Pre-treating items (for example with washing-up liquid and other
cleaning agents) as well as some types of soiling and some cleaning agents can cause a build-up of foam in the wash cabinet. Foam can have an adverse effect on the cleaning result.
Foam escaping from the wash cabinet can cause damage to the
dishwasher. If foam escapes the programme must be cancelled immediately and the machine must be disconnected from the mains electrical supply.
15
Warning and Safety instructions
When using cleaning agents and specialised products, it is essen-
tial that the manufacturer's instructions are followed. Cleaning agents must only be used for the purpose they are designed for by the manufacturer to avoid any material damage or the occurrence of strong chemical reactions (e.g. oxyhydrogen explosion).
Do not inhale or ingest powder cleaning agent. Dishwasher clean-
ing agents contain irritant or corrosive ingredients which can cause burning in the nose, mouth and throat if swallowed, or inhibit breathing. Seek medical attention immediately if cleaning agent has been swallowed or inhaled.
Miele cannot be held liable for any effect chemical cleaning
agents may have on the material of the items being cleaned. Observe the cleaning agent manufacturer's instructions with regard to storage conditions, use and dosage.
To avoid material damage and corrosion, do not allow any acids
or solutions containing chlorides or metals which are not rust-proof to get into the wash cabinet.
Do not wash items soiled with ash, sand, wax, lubricating grease
or paint in the dishwasher. These materials will cause damage to the dishwasher.
Do not clean the dishwasher or near vicinity with a hose or a pres-
sure washer.
Ensure that the outer casing of the machine does not come into
contact with solutions or steam containing acid to avoid any corrosion damage.
Be careful when sorting items with sharp pointed ends and posi-
tioning them in the dishwasher that you do not hurt yourself or create a danger for others. Sharp knives, forks, etc. should be placed in baskets with the pointed ends facing downwards.
Remove any coarse food deposits and empty out any containers
or utensils before loading them in the dishwasher.
16
Warning and Safety instructions

Safety with children

Children should be supervised in the vicinity of the dishwasher.
Never allow children to play with the machine. There is a danger that children might shut themselves in the dishwasher.
Children under eight years of age must be kept away from the
dishwasher unless they are constantly supervised.
Keep children away from chemical agents. These contain irritant
and corrosive ingredients which can cause burning in the mouth, or inhibit breathing. Keep children away from the dishwasher when the door is open. There could still be residual chemical agent in the wash cabinet. Seek medical advice immediately if a child has swallowed or inhaled chemical agent.

Accessories

Accessory parts may only be fitted when expressly approved by
Miele. If other parts are used, warranty, performance and product liability claims will be invalidated.
Miele cannot be held liable for damage caused by non-compliance with these Warning and Safety instructions.
17

Caring for the environment

Disposal of the packing material
The packaging is designed to protect the appliance from damage during transportation. The packaging materials used are selected from materials which are environmentally friendly for disposal and should be recycled.
Recycling the packaging reduces the use of raw materials in the manufacturing process and also reduces the amount of waste in landfill sites.
Disposing of your old appliance
Electrical and electronic appliances often contain valuable materials. They also contain specific materials, compounds and components, which were essential for their correct function and safety. These could be hazardous to human health and to the environment if disposed of with your domestic waste or if handled incorrectly. Please do not, therefore, dispose of your old appliance with your household waste.
Please dispose of it at your local community waste collection / recycling centre for electrical and electronic appliances, or contact your dealer or Miele for advice. You are also responsible (by law, depending on country) for deleting any personal data that may be stored on the appliance being disposed of. Please ensure that your old appliance poses no risk to children while being stored prior to disposal.
18

Economical dishwashing

This dishwasher is exceptionally economical in its use of water and electricity. You can make the most of your machine by following these tips:
– For most economical dishwashing,
make full use of the baskets without overloading the dishwasher. This results in the most economical dishwashing.
– Choose the programme to suit the
type of crockery being washed and the degree of soiling.
– Select the ECO programme for en-
ergy-saving dishwashing. This programme is the most efficient in terms of its combined energy and water consumption for cleaning dishes with a normal level of soiling.
Caring for the environment
– Follow the detergent manufacturer's
recommendations on detergent dosage.
– When using powder or liquid deter-
gent you can use 1/3 less detergent if baskets are only half full.
19

Before using for the first time

Opening the door

Risk of damage due to leaking
water. The door of the commercial dish-
washer must not be opened during operation.
Once the programme has started, leave the door closed to ensure that no water drips out.
Risk of damage due to opening
the door accidentally. When the commercial dishwasher is
being installed, it must be equipped with a mechanism that prevents the door opening accidentally while at sea.
Bolt the door with the mechanism to ensure no items or baskets fall out of the dishwasher.

Closing the door

Push the baskets right in.Then raise the door up, and push un-
til it clicks into position.
Danger of injury.
Do not put your hand inside the door as it is closing.

Safety lock

The child safety lock can be used to prevent children opening the dishwasher. The door can then only be opened by using a lot of force.
To open the door, reach under the
door grip and pull.
Keep the area around the door free of obstructions.
20
To lock the door, push the slide un-
derneath the door grip to the right.
To unlock the door, push the slide to
the left.
Before using for the first time

Basic settings

Switch the dishwasher on with the
button.
The welcome screen will appear when the dishwasher is switched on for the first time.

Language

The display will then change automatically to the screen for setting the language.
Use the arrow buttons to select
the language you want and also the country, if applicable, and confirm your selection with OK.
See “Display” for more information about the display and controls.
A tick will appear next to the language that has been set.

Time of day

The display will then change to the screen for setting the time of day.
The current time of day must be set before you can use the “FlexiTimer” programme option. You can also show the current date and time in the display.

hour and confirm with OK.
Then set the minutes and confirm
with OK.
Keeping the arrow buttons pressed in will increase and decrease the time automatically.
The display will then change to the screen for setting the clock display.
Select whether or not the time of day
should show in the display and confirm your selection with OK.
If you have selected Display On, con-
firm the message about higher energy consumption with OK.
21
Before using for the first time

Water hardness

The display will change to the screen for setting the water hardness.
– The dishwasher must be pro-
grammed to the correct water hardness for your area.
– Your local water authority will be able
to advise you of the water hardness level in your area.
– Where the water hardness fluctuates
(e.g. between 1.8–2.7mmol/l (10– 15°d – German scale)), always programme the dishwasher to the higher value (2.7mmol/l (15°d) in this example).
In the event of a fault, it will help the service technician if you know the hardness of your local water supply.
Therefore, please enter the water hardness:
____________°d or mmol/l
Next, the information Miele@home en-
abled and Set up finished will appear in
the display.
After confirming these prompts with
OK, the messagesAdd salt andAdd rinse aid may appear.
Add salt and rinse aid if necessary
(see “Before using for the first time”, “Dishwasher salt” and “rinse aid”).
Confirm the messages with OK.
The programme selected will appear in the display briefly and the indicator light for the programme selected will come on. Then the display will show the estimated duration for the programme selected.
These basic settings will be saved in memory after the dishwasher has been through one complete programme.
The dishwasher is programmed at the factory for a water hardness level of
2.7mmol/l (15°d – German scale). Use the arrow buttons to select
the hardness you want and confirm with OK.
See “Settings menu, Water hardness” for more information.
22
Before using for the first time

Before using the machine for the first time, you will need:

– approx. 2litres of water,
– approx. 2kg dishwasher salt,
– detergent suitable for commercial
dishwashers,
– rinse aid suitable for commercial
dishwashers.
Suitable products are available from Miele Professional.
Every dishwasher is tested at the factory. There will be residual water in the machine from this test. It is not an indication that the dishwasher has been used previously.

Dishwasher salt

In order to achieve good cleaning results, the dishwasher needs to operate with soft water. Hard water results in the build-up of calcium deposits on crockery and on the inner surfaces of the appliance. Mains water with a hardness level higher than 0.7mmol/l (4°d – German scale) must be softened. This occurs automatically in the integrated water softener. The water softener is suitable for a water hardness level of up to
6.5mmol/l (36°d – German scale).
If the water in your area is very soft and constantly lower than 0.9mmol/l (5°d – German scale) you do not need to add dishwasher salt. The salt refill indicator is switched off automatically.
Detergent will damage the water
softener. Do not fill the salt reservoir with
powder or liquid detergent.
Only use special coarse-grained
dishwasher salt or other pure kitchen salt for reactivation.
Other salts may contain insoluble additives that can impair the functioning of the water softener.
The water softener requires dishwasher salt.
23
Before using for the first time

Filling the salt reservoir

Before filling the salt reservoir for the first time, you must fill it with approx. 2litres of water to enable the salt to dissolve.
Once the dishwasher has been used, there is always sufficient water in the reservoir.
Remove the lower basket from the
wash cabinet and unscrew the salt reservoir cap.
Risk of corrosion due to saline
solution. Water or saline solution will run out
of the reservoir when the cap is removed. Saline solution that runs out can cause corrosion in the wash cabinet and to the dishwasher load.
The salt reservoir should therefore only be opened in order to replenish the salt.
Fill the reservoir with approx. 2 litres
of water (first use only).
24
Place the funnel provided over the
salt reservoir and carefully fill with dishwasher salt until the reservoir is full. The salt reservoir holds approx. 2kg of salt, depending on the type of salt used.
Clean any excess salt from around
the reservoir opening and then screw the cap on again firmly.
Run the Cold pre-wash programme
immediately without a load in order to remove any traces of salt from the cabinet.

Salt refill indicator

When Add salt appears in the dis-
play wait until the end of the programme and then refill the salt reservoir.
Confirm with OK.
The salt refill reminder will go out.
After the salt reservoir has been filled, the salt refill reminder may still appear in the display if the salt concentration has not yet reached the correct level. In this case, confirm the message again with OK.
Before using for the first time

Rinse aid

Rinse aid is necessary to ensure water does not cling and leave marks on crockery during the drying phase, and helps crockery dry faster after it has been washed. Rinse aid is poured into the storage reservoir and the amount set is dispensed automatically.
Fill the reservoir with rinse aid
suitable for commercial dishwashers only. Do not fill it with washing-up liquid or cleaning agent.
This would damage the rinse aid reservoir.
Suitable products are available from Miele Professional.
Alternatively, it is possible to use
– Household vinegar with a max. 5%
acid content
or

Adding rinse aid

Press the button on the lid of the
rinse aid reservoir in the direction of the arrow until the flap springs open.
– Liquid citric acid up to 10% acid
content. The resulting rinsing and drying quality will not, however, be as good as when rinse aid is used.
Do not use vinegar with a higher
acid content (e.g. vinegar essence 25% acid).
This would damage the dishwasher.
25
Before using for the first time
Add rinse aid only until it is visible in
the opening.
The rinse aid reservoir holds approx.110ml.
Close the flap firmly so that it clicks
into place. Otherwise water can enter the rinse aid reservoir during a programme.
If you do not want the salt and rinse aid refill reminders to appear, you can switch off both refill reminders for salt and rinse aid if you wish (see “Settings menu, Switching off the refill reminders”).
Wipe up any spilled rinse aid. This
prevents over-foaming occurring during the next programme.
You can adjust the rinse aid dosage for best results (see “Settings menu, Rinse aid”).

Rinse aid refill reminder

When the Add rinse aid message appears, the reservoir contains sufficient rinse aid for 2–3 programmes only.
Refill with rinse aid in plenty of time.Confirm with OK.
The rinse aid refill reminder will disappear.
26

Loading the dishwasher

Notes

Danger of injury during loading
and unloading. The baskets may roll out of the dish-
washer when at sea. Make sure that the baskets do not
roll out of the dishwasher during loading and unloading.
Remove coarse food residues from crockery.
There is no need to rinse items under running water.
Damage due to unsuitable ma-
terials. Ash, sand, wax, lubricating grease or
paint can cause damage to the dishwasher.
Do not wash items soiled with these materials in the dishwasher.
Crockery can be loaded anywhere in the baskets, but the following notes should be observed:
– Do not place crockery and cutlery in-
side other items where they will cover one another.
– Load the crockery so that water can
access all surfaces.
– Tall and narrow hollow items, such as
champagne glasses, should be placed in the middle of the basket rather than in the corners. This ensures better water coverage.
– Wide based items should be placed
at an angle so that water can run off them freely.
– The spray arms must not be blocked
by items which are too tall or hang through the baskets. If in doubt, test for free movement by manually rotating the spray arms.
– Make sure that small items cannot
fall through the holders in the baskets. They should therefore be placed in the cutlery basket.
Some foods may contain natural dyes, e.g. carrots, tomatoes or ketchup. These dyes can discolour plastic items in the dishwasher if large quantities of these foods are in contact with the crockery inside the appliance. The stability of plastic items is not affected by this discolouration. Washing silverware can also cause plastic items to discolour.
– Make sure that all items are securely
positioned.
– Hollow items such as cups, glasses,
pans, etc. must be inverted in the basket.
