and maintained by Miele Professional Service or a suitably qualified
service technician. Installation, repairs and other work by unqualified
persons could be dangerous. Miele cannot be held liable for unauthorised work.
This dishwasher must only be operated by appropriately trained
personnel. They must be instructed and trained regularly.
Before using the dishwasher, check it for any externally visible
damage. Do not use a damaged dishwasher. This could be dangerous.
In the event of a damaged or leaking dishwasher, switch off at the
power supply immediately and call the Miele Customer Service Department, a Miele dealer or a suitably qualified service technician.
Faulty components must only be replaced by genuine Miele ori-
ginal spare parts. Only when these parts are fitted can Miele guarantee the correct functioning and safety of the appliance.
The electrical safety of this machine can only be guaranteed when
correctly earthed. If in any doubt, please have the electrical installation tested by a qualified electrician. Miele cannot be held liable for
the consequences of an inadequate earthing system (e.g. electric
shock).
Please follow the advice on installation in these instructions and
the separate Installation diagram.
Before connecting the appliance, ensure that the connection data
on the data plate (voltage, frequency and fuse rating) match the
mains electrical supply.
There must be no electrical sockets behind the dishwasher.
Danger of overheating and fire risk if the dishwasher were to be
pushed up against a plug. See “Electrical connection”.
13
Warning and Safety instructions
Do not connect the dishwasher to the mains electricity supply via
a multi-socket unit or an extension lead. These do not guarantee the
required safety of the machine (e.g. danger of overheating).
Warning. Do not open the casing of the dishwasher. Any contact
with live connections or tampering with the electrical or mechanical
components of the dishwasher will endanger your safety and may
lead to machine malfunctions.

– The dishwasher is properly maintained and parts are replaced
where it can be seen that this is necessary.
– The stopcocks have been turned off during longer periods of in-
activity (e.g. whilst on holiday).
The Waterproof system will work even when the dishwasher is
switched off. However, the dishwasher must remain connected to
the electricity supply.
14
Warning and Safety instructions
Correct use
This dishwasher is designed for operation with water and cleaning
agents suitable for use in commercial dishwashers only. Organic
solvents and flammable liquid agents must not be used in it.
This could cause an explosion, damage rubber or plastic components in the dishwasher and cause liquids to leak out of it.
Unsuitable cleaning agents could adversely affect components of
the dishwasher or the items being cleaned.
You could injure yourself on the open dishwasher door or trip over
it. Avoid leaving the door open unnecessarily.
Do not sit, stand or lean on the opened door. This would tip or
damage the dishwasher.
After any plumbing work the water pipework to the dishwasher will
need to be vented. If this is not done, components can be damaged.
Please be aware that the dishwasher may be operating at high
temperatures. When the door is opened there is a danger of burning
or scalding. Items, baskets and inserts must be allowed to cool
down before they are unloaded. Any water remaining in containers
could still be very hot. Empty them into the wash chamber before
taking them out.
The water in the cabinet must not be used as drinking water.
Pre-treating items (for example with washing-up liquid and other
cleaning agents) as well as some types of soiling and some cleaning
agents can cause a build-up of foam in the wash cabinet. Foam can
have an adverse effect on the cleaning result.
Foam escaping from the wash cabinet can cause damage to the
dishwasher. If foam escapes the programme must be cancelled immediately and the machine must be disconnected from the mains
electrical supply.
15
Warning and Safety instructions
When using cleaning agents and specialised products, it is essen-
tial that the manufacturer's instructions are followed. Cleaning
agents must only be used for the purpose they are designed for by
the manufacturer to avoid any material damage or the occurrence of
strong chemical reactions (e.g. oxyhydrogen explosion).
Do not inhale or ingest powder cleaning agent. Dishwasher clean-
ing agents contain irritant or corrosive ingredients which can cause
burning in the nose, mouth and throat if swallowed, or inhibit breathing. Seek medical attention immediately if cleaning agent has been
swallowed or inhaled.
Miele cannot be held liable for any effect chemical cleaning
agents may have on the material of the items being cleaned. Observe the cleaning agent manufacturer's instructions with regard to
storage conditions, use and dosage.
To avoid material damage and corrosion, do not allow any acids
or solutions containing chlorides or metals which are not rust-proof
to get into the wash cabinet.
Do not wash items soiled with ash, sand, wax, lubricating grease
or paint in the dishwasher. These materials will cause damage to the
dishwasher.
Do not clean the dishwasher or near vicinity with a hose or a pres-
sure washer.
Ensure that the outer casing of the machine does not come into
contact with solutions or steam containing acid to avoid any corrosion damage.
Be careful when sorting items with sharp pointed ends and posi-
tioning them in the dishwasher that you do not hurt yourself or create a danger for others. Sharp knives, forks, etc. should be placed in
baskets with the pointed ends facing downwards.
Remove any coarse food deposits and empty out any containers
or utensils before loading them in the dishwasher.
16
Warning and Safety instructions
Safety with children
Children should be supervised in the vicinity of the dishwasher.
Never allow children to play with the machine. There is a danger that
children might shut themselves in the dishwasher.
Children under eight years of age must be kept away from the
dishwasher unless they are constantly supervised.
Keep children away from chemical agents. These contain irritant
and corrosive ingredients which can cause burning in the mouth, or
inhibit breathing. Keep children away from the dishwasher when the
door is open. There could still be residual chemical agent in the
wash cabinet. Seek medical advice immediately if a child has swallowed or inhaled chemical agent.
Accessories
Accessory parts may only be fitted when expressly approved by
Miele. If other parts are used, warranty, performance and product liability claims will be invalidated.
Miele cannot be held liable for damage caused by non-compliance
with these Warning and Safety instructions.
17
Caring for the environment
Disposal of the packing material
The packaging is designed to protect
the appliance from damage during
transportation. The packaging materials
used are selected from materials which
are environmentally friendly for disposal
and should be recycled.
Recycling the packaging reduces the
use of raw materials in the manufacturing process and also reduces the
amount of waste in landfill sites.
Disposing of your old appliance
Electrical and electronic appliances often contain valuable materials. They
also contain specific materials, compounds and components, which were
essential for their correct function and
safety. These could be hazardous to human health and to the environment if
disposed of with your domestic waste
or if handled incorrectly. Please do not,
therefore, dispose of your old appliance
with your household waste.
Please dispose of it at your local community waste collection / recycling
centre for electrical and electronic appliances, or contact your dealer or
Miele for advice. You are also responsible (by law, depending on country) for
deleting any personal data that may be
stored on the appliance being disposed
of. Please ensure that your old appliance poses no risk to children while being stored prior to disposal.
18
Economical dishwashing
This dishwasher is exceptionally economical in its use of water and electricity.
You can make the most of your machine by following these tips:
– For most economical dishwashing,
make full use of the baskets without
overloading the dishwasher. This results in the most economical dishwashing.
– Choose the programme to suit the
type of crockery being washed and
the degree of soiling.
– Select the ECO programme for en-
ergy-saving dishwashing. This programme is the most efficient in terms
of its combined energy and water
consumption for cleaning dishes with
a normal level of soiling.
Caring for the environment
– Follow the detergent manufacturer's
recommendations on detergent
dosage.
– When using powder or liquid deter-
gent you can use 1/3 less detergent if
baskets are only half full.
19
Before using for the first time
Opening the door
Risk of damage due to leaking
water.
The door of the commercial dish-
washer must not be opened during
operation.
Once the programme has started,
leave the door closed to ensure that
no water drips out.
Risk of damage due to opening
the door accidentally.
When the commercial dishwasher is
being installed, it must be equipped
with a mechanism that prevents the
door opening accidentally while at
sea.
Bolt the door with the mechanism to
ensure no items or baskets fall out of
the dishwasher.
Closing the door
Push the baskets right in.
Then raise the door up, and push un-
til it clicks into position.
Danger of injury.
Do not put your hand inside the door
as it is closing.

21
Before using for the first time
Water hardness
The display will change to the screen
for setting the water hardness.
– The dishwasher must be pro-
grammed to the correct water hardness for your area.
– Your local water authority will be able
to advise you of the water hardness
level in your area.
– Where the water hardness fluctuates
(e.g. between 1.8–2.7mmol/l (10–
15°d – German scale)), always programme the dishwasher to the higher
value (2.7mmol/l (15°d) in this example).
In the event of a fault, it will help the
service technician if you know the hardness of your local water supply.
Therefore, please enter the water hardness:
____________°d or mmol/l
Next, the information Miele@home en-
abled and Set up finished will appear in
the display.
After confirming these prompts with
OK, the messagesAdd salt and
Add rinse aid may appear.
Add salt and rinse aid if necessary
(see “Before using for the first time”,
“Dishwasher salt” and “rinse aid”).
Confirm the messages with OK.
The programme selected will appear in
the display briefly and the indicator light
for the programme selected will come
on.
Then the display will show the estimated duration for the programme selected.
These basic settings will be saved in
memory after the dishwasher has been
through one complete programme.
The dishwasher is programmed at the
factory for a water hardness level of
2.7mmol/l (15°d – German scale).
Use the arrow buttons to select
the hardness you want and confirm
with OK.
See “Settings menu, Water hardness”
for more information.
22
Before using for the first time
Before using the machine for
the first time, you will need:
– approx. 2litres of water,
– approx. 2kg dishwasher salt,
– detergent suitable for commercial
dishwashers,
– rinse aid suitable for commercial
dishwashers.
Suitable products are available from
Miele Professional.
Every dishwasher is tested at the factory. There will be residual water in the
machine from this test. It is not an indication that the dishwasher has been
used previously.
Dishwasher salt
In order to achieve good cleaning results, the dishwasher needs to operate
with soft water. Hard water results in
the build-up of calcium deposits on
crockery and on the inner surfaces of
the appliance.
Mains water with a hardness level
higher than 0.7mmol/l (4°d – German
scale) must be softened. This occurs
automatically in the integrated water
softener. The water softener is suitable
for a water hardness level of up to
6.5mmol/l (36°d – German scale).
If the water in your area is very soft
and constantly lower than 0.9mmol/l(5°d – German scale) you do not
need to add dishwasher salt. The salt
refill indicator is switched off automatically.
Detergent will damage the water
softener.
Do not fill the salt reservoir with
powder or liquid detergent.
Only use special coarse-grained
dishwasher salt or other pure kitchen
salt for reactivation.
Other salts may contain insoluble additives that can impair the functioning of the water softener.
The water softener requires dishwasher
salt.
23
Before using for the first time
Filling the salt reservoir
Before filling the salt reservoir for the
first time, you must fill it with approx.
2litres of water to enable the salt to
dissolve.
Once the dishwasher has been used,
there is always sufficient water in the
reservoir.
Remove the lower basket from the
wash cabinet and unscrew the salt
reservoir cap.
Risk of corrosion due to saline
solution.
Water or saline solution will run out
of the reservoir when the cap is removed. Saline solution that runs out
can cause corrosion in the wash
cabinet and to the dishwasher load.
The salt reservoir should therefore
only be opened in order to replenish
the salt.
Fill the reservoir with approx. 2 litres
of water (first use only).
24
Place the funnel provided over the
salt reservoir and carefully fill with
dishwasher salt until the reservoir is
full. The salt reservoir holds approx.
2kg of salt, depending on the type of
salt used.
Clean any excess salt from around
the reservoir opening and then screw
the cap on again firmly.
Run the Cold pre-wash programme
immediately without a load in order to
remove any traces of salt from the
cabinet.
Salt refill indicator
When Add salt appears in the dis-
play wait until the end of the programme and then refill the salt reservoir.
Confirm with OK.
The salt refill reminder will go out.
After the salt reservoir has been filled,
the salt refill reminder may still appear
in the display if the salt concentration
has not yet reached the correct level. In
this case, confirm the message again
with OK.
Before using for the first time
Rinse aid
Rinse aid is necessary to ensure water
does not cling and leave marks on
crockery during the drying phase, and
helps crockery dry faster after it has
been washed.
Rinse aid is poured into the storage
reservoir and the amount set is dispensed automatically.
Fill the reservoir with rinse aid
suitable for commercial dishwashers
only. Do not fill it with washing-up liquid or cleaning agent.
This would damage the rinse aid
reservoir.
Suitable products are available from
Miele Professional.
Alternatively, it is possible to use
– Household vinegar with a max. 5%
acid content
or
Adding rinse aid
Press the button on the lid of the
rinse aid reservoir in the direction of
the arrow until the flap springs open.
– Liquid citric acid up to 10% acid
content. The resulting rinsing and
drying quality will not, however, be as
good as when rinse aid is used.
Do not use vinegar with a higher
acid content (e.g. vinegar essence
25% acid).
This would damage the dishwasher.
25
Before using for the first time
Add rinse aid only until it is visible in
the opening.
The rinse aid reservoir holds approx.110ml.
Close the flap firmly so that it clicks
into place. Otherwise water can enter
the rinse aid reservoir during a programme.
If you do not want the salt and rinse
aid refill reminders to appear, you can
switch off both refill reminders for salt
and rinse aid if you wish (see “Settings
menu, Switching off the refill reminders”).
Wipe up any spilled rinse aid. This
prevents over-foaming occurring during the next programme.
You can adjust the rinse aid dosage
for best results (see “Settings menu,
Rinse aid”).
Rinse aid refill reminder
When the Add rinse aid message appears, the reservoir contains sufficient
rinse aid for 2–3 programmes only.
Refill with rinse aid in plenty of time.
Confirm with OK.
The rinse aid refill reminder will disappear.
26
Loading the dishwasher
Notes
Danger of injury during loading
and unloading.
The baskets may roll out of the dish-
washer when at sea.
Make sure that the baskets do not
roll out of the dishwasher during
loading and unloading.
Remove coarse food residues from
crockery.
There is no need to rinse items under
running water.
Damage due to unsuitable ma-
terials.
Ash, sand, wax, lubricating grease or
paint can cause damage to the dishwasher.
Do not wash items soiled with these
materials in the dishwasher.
Crockery can be loaded anywhere in
the baskets, but the following notes
should be observed:
– Do not place crockery and cutlery in-
side other items where they will cover
one another.
– Load the crockery so that water can
access all surfaces.
– Tall and narrow hollow items, such as
champagne glasses, should be
placed in the middle of the basket
rather than in the corners. This ensures better water coverage.
– Wide based items should be placed
at an angle so that water can run off
them freely.
– The spray arms must not be blocked
by items which are too tall or hang
through the baskets. If in doubt, test
for free movement by manually rotating the spray arms.
– Make sure that small items cannot
fall through the holders in the baskets. They should therefore be placed
in the cutlery basket.
Some foods may contain natural
dyes, e.g. carrots, tomatoes or
ketchup. These dyes can discolour
plastic items in the dishwasher if
large quantities of these foods are in
contact with the crockery inside the
appliance. The stability of plastic
items is not affected by this discolouration.
Washing silverware can also cause
plastic items to discolour.
– Make sure that all items are securely
positioned.
– Hollow items such as cups, glasses,
pans, etc. must be inverted in the
basket.
27
Loading the dishwasher
Items not suitable for dishwashers:
– Wooden cutlery and crockery or
items with wooden parts: these may
discolour and fade. The glue used in
these items is not dishwasher-proof
and wooden handles may come
loose after being washed in a dishwasher.
– Craft items, antiques, valuable vases
and decorative glassware: such items
are not suitable for dishwashers.
– Plastic items which are not heat res-
istant: the high temperatures in the
dishwasher may cause them to melt
or lose shape.
– Copper, brass, tin and aluminium
items: these may discolour or become matt.
– Colours painted over a glaze: these
may fade after a number of washes.
– Delicate glassware and glassware
containing lead crystal: clouding may
occur over time.
Please note
Silverware previously cleaned with a
silver polish may still be damp or spot-
ted at the end of a programme, where
water has not run off smoothly. It may
need to be rubbed dry with a soft cloth.
Aluminium components (e.g.
cooker hood grease filters) must not
be cleaned with caustic alkaline
commercial or industrial cleaning
agents.
These may damage the material, or
in extreme cases, there is a risk of a
severe explosive chemical reaction
(such as an explosive oxyhydrogen
gas reaction).
Tip: When purchasing new crockery
and cutlery, make sure they are dishwasher-proof.
Glass care
– Clouding may occur on glasses after
frequent washing. When washing delicate glassware in the dishwasher,
ensure that only a special glass-care
programme with very low temperatures is selected (see Programme
chart). This will reduce the risk of
clouding.
– Purchase glassware which is dish-
washer safe (e.g. Riedel glassware).
– Use detergents with glass added
glass protection.
Silver which has been in contact with
foods containing sulphur can discolour.
These include egg yolk, onions, mayonnaise, mustard, pulses, fish, fish brine
and marinades.

Operation
Detergent
Powder detergents
Use powder detergent or detergent
tabs only in the door dispenser compartment.
Tabs can be used.
Only use tabs that are quick dissolv-
ing.
Suitable products are available from
Miele Professional.
Add powder detergent or tabs to the
detergent compartment.
Detergent dispensing
Unless directed otherwise, use one
tab or add 20 to 25g of powder detergent to compartmentII, depending
on the level of soiling. With very
heavy soiling you can also add a
small amount of powder detergent to
compartmentl (see “Programme
chart”).
Liquid detergent
This dishwasher can be fitted with an
external dispenser pump for liquid detergent (DOS module).
See “Settings menu - External dispensing” to activate the dispenser pump and
set the dosage.
For special soiling and if using liquid
detergent, contact Miele for advice on
how to set the dosage for best results.
Cleaning agents containing act-
ive chlorine must not be used.
They can damage plastics and elast-
omers in the dishwasher.
Failure to dispense the recommended amount of detergent may impair
cleaning results.
39
Operation
Refilling or changing containers
The dispenser module is equipped with
a level indicator. Refill detergentwill appear in the display when the level drops
below the minimum.
As soon as the message appears in
the display, refill or replace the canister with a full one containing the appropriate process chemical at the end
of the programme.
Confirm the message shown with the
OK button.
Replace the canister in good time to
prevent the dispensing system being
emptied completely.
An empty dispensing system must
be vented before starting the next
programme.
Place the canister on the open cab-
inet door or on a surface which is
easy to clean.
Replace the empty canister with a full
one.
Push the siphon into the opening of
the canister and screw it on tightly.
Observe the colour coding.
Wipe up any spilled process chemical
thoroughly.
Place the canister on the floor beside
the dishwasher or in an adjacent cupboard. The canister must be at the
same level as the machine and not be
placed on top of or above the machine.
The dispensing system must then be
vented.
To vent the system and adjust the
dosage amount, see
“Settings menu, External dispensing”.
Checking consumption
Monitor the amount of process chemicals used by regularly checking the level
in the canister in order to detect any
dispensing irregularities.
Unscrew and remove the siphon.
Place the siphon on the open cabinet
door.
40
Changing detergent
If you want to change the detergent
used, the system must first be rinsed
through with water to avoid a reaction
between the different detergents.
Remove the siphon from the canister
and place it in a container of water.
Start “Vent dispensing system” twice
(see “Settings menu, External dispensing”) to the rinse the system.
Then place the siphon in the new
canister and start “Vent dispensing
system” again.
The dispensing system is ready for operation.
Always follow the recommendations
of the cleaning agent manufacturer
whether using powder or liquid
cleaning agent.
Operation
41
Operation
Do not inhale or ingest powder
detergent. Do not swallow dishwasher detergents. Dishwasher detergents can cause burning in the
nose, mouth and throat if swallowed,
or inhibit breathing. Seek medical attention immediately if detergent has
been swallowed or inhaled. Keep
children away from detergents. Keep
children away from the dishwasher
when the door is open. Detergent
residues could be present in the machine. Do not fill the detergent dispenser until just before starting the
programme and activate the door
safety lock.
Adding detergent
Add the required amount of detergent
and close the flap.
Ensure that the detergent packaging
is properly closed after use. This prevents the detergent from getting
damp and clumping together.
Dispensing information
CompartmentI holds max. 10ml,
compartmentII holds max. 50ml of detergent.
Press the opening catch in the direc-
tion of the arrow. The flap will spring
open.
The flap is always open at the end of a
programme.
42
In compartmentII there are markings to
assist with dispensing: 20 and 30. They
indicate the fill quantity inml when the
door is open in the horizontal position.

Operation
Time display
The estimated duration of the programme selected appears in the display
before the programme begins. During
the programme, the time left until the
end of the programme is displayed.
Symbols appear to indicate which stage
the programme is at:
The displayed programme duration may
vary with the same programme. It is influenced by, among other things, the
water temperature at each inlet, the reactivation cycle of the water softener
and the amount of dishes.
Energy management
To save energy, the dishwasher will
switch off automatically 10 minutes
after the last time a button is pressed or
10 minutes after the end of the programme.
Press the button to switch the
dishwasher back on.
The dishwasher will not switch off automatically if the time of day display has
been activated (see “Settings menu,
Time of day”).
The dishwasher will not switch off
whilst a programme or the FlexiTimer
is running or if there is a fault.
The durations shown in the Programme
chart refer to standard test loads and
temperatures.
Each time a programme is run, the electronic unit calculates the programme
duration required according to the temperature of the water taken into the
dishwasher and the amount of crockery.
44
Operation
End of programme
The programme has finished when the
message Finished appears in the display.
The drying fan may continue to run for
a few minutes at the end of the programme.
You can now empty the dishwasher.
Switching off
At the end of a programme:
The dishwasher can be switched off
at any time using thebutton.
Switching the dishwasher off during a
programme stops the programme.
Switching the dishwasher off during the
run-up to a delay start time (FlexiTimer)
will also stop the process.
If the dishwasher is not going to be
used for a longer period of time, e.g.
whilst on holiday, the stopcock
should be closed as a precaution.
Unloading the dishwasher
Dishes tend to break and chip more
easily when they are hot. Allow the
dishes to cool until they are comfortable
enough to handle before unloading
them.
If you open the door fully after switching
off, the dishes will cool much faster.
First unload the lower basket, then the
upper basket.
This will prevent water drops from the
upper basket from falling onto the
dishes in the lower basket.
Interrupting and changing a
programme
Risk of damage due to leaking
water.
The door of the commercial dish-
washer must not be opened during
operation.
Once the programme has started,
leave the door closed to ensure that
no water drips out.

Cleaning and care
Periodic checks
To prolong the service life of the commercial dishwasher, it should be serviced at least once a year by the Miele
Customer Service Department.
Maintenance covers the following:
– Electrical safety according to national
regulations (e.g. VDE0701/0702 in
Germany)
– Door mechanism and door seal
– Any screw connections and connect-
ors in the wash chamber
– Water inlet and drainage
– Internal and external dispensing sys-
tems
– Spray arms
– Filter combination
– Sump including drain pump and non-
return valve
– All baskets and inserts
All surfaces are susceptible to
scratching.
Contact with unsuitable cleaning
agents can alter or discolour the external surfaces.
Cleaning the wash cabinet
The wash cabinet is largely self-cleaning, provided that the correct amount of
detergent is always used.
If, despite this, limescale or grease deposits accumulate in the cabinet, these
can be removed with a proprietary dishwasher cleaner (available from Miele).
Follow the dosage recommended by
the manufacturer on the packaging.
Clean the filters in the wash cabinet
regularly.
The following operational tests will be
carried out as part of the maintenance:
– A programme sequence will be run as
a test run
– Seals will be tested for water tight-
ness
– All relevant measuring systems will
be safety tested, including fault displays
– Safety features
Check the condition of your dishwasher regularly (approx. every 4 - 6
months). This way faults and problems can be avoided.
53
Cleaning and care
Cleaning the door and the door
seal
The door seal, the sides of the door and
the underside of the door are not accessed and cleaned by the spray arm
jets.
Open the dishwasher door to clean it.
Before closing the dishwasher door,
regularly wipe off any food or drink
residues which may have dripped
onto the sides, underside and seals
with a damp cloth it to prevent the
build-up of mould.
Cleaning the door front
Soiling that is left too long might
become impossible to remove and
could cause the external surfaces to
alter or discolour.
Remove any soiling immediately.
Clean the front with a clean sponge
and a solution of hot water and washing-up liquid. After cleaning dry with a
soft cloth.
A clean, damp microfibre cloth
without cleaning agent can also be
used.
To avoid damaging the external surfaces, do not use:
– cleaning agents containing soda, am-
monia, acids or chlorides,
– cleaning agents containing descaling
agents,
– abrasive cleaning agents, e.g.
powder cleaners and cream cleaners,
– solvent-based cleaning agents,
– stainless steel cleaning agents,
– dishwasher cleaner,
– oven sprays,
– glass cleaning agents,
– hard, abrasive brushes or sponges,
e.g. pot scourers, brushes or
sponges which have been previously
used with abrasive cleaning agents,
– melamine eraser blocks,
– sharp metal scrapers,
– wire wool,
– steam cleaning appliances.
54
Cleaning the spray arms
Particles of food can get stuck in the
spray arm jets and bearings. The spray
arms should therefore be checked and
cleaned regularly.
Switch the dishwasher off.
Remove the spray arms as follows:
Take out the cutlery tray (if your dish-
washer is fitted with one).
Push the upper spray arm upwards
to engage the inner ratchet. Then unscrew the spray arm.
Cleaning and care
Pull the lower spray arm firmly up-
wards to remove it.
Push the middle spray arm upwards
to engage the ratchet. Then un-screw the spray arm .
Remove the lower basket.
Use a pointed object to push food
particles into the spray arm jets.
Rinse the spray arms thoroughly un-
der running water.
Replace the spray arms and check
that they rotate freely.
55
Cleaning and care
Checking the filters in the
wash cabinet
The filter combination in the base of the
wash cabinet retains coarse soil from
the suds solution. This prevents soiling
getting into the circulation system and
re-entering the cabinet through the
spray arms.
The dishwasher must not be
used without all the filters in place.
Collection of coarse soil may cause the
filters to clog. The level of soiling and
time it takes before the filters need
cleaning will vary depending on use.
The message Check filters will appear in
the display after every 50programme
cycles (factory default setting).
You can set the interval for this message to appear to between 30 and
60programme cycles (see “Settings
menu, Check filters”).
Cleaning the filters
Switch the dishwasher off.
Turn the handle anti-clockwise to re-
lease the filter combination .
Lift the filter combination out of the
dishwasher . Remove any coarse
particles and rinse the filter well under running water.
Use a nylon brush if necessary.
Check the filter combination.
Clean it, if necessary.
Then confirm the message with OK.
The message will go out.
56
Make sure that when cleaning
the filters, no coarse soil falls into the
circulation system, causing a blockage.
Cleaning and care
To clean the inside of the filter, the flap
must be opened:
Press catches together in the dir-
ection of the arrows as shown, and
open the filter .
Rinse all the filters under running wa-
ter.
Then close the flap so that the catch
engages.
Replace the filter combination so that
it lies flat in the base of the wash cabinet.
Then turn the handle clockwise to
lock the filter combination in place.
Take care when you are fitting
the filter combination that it is secured in position correctly.
Otherwise coarse soil could get into
the circulation system and cause a
blockage.

This is not a fault.
It is caused by the drying system.
The moisture will dissipate after a short while.
Before rectifying the problem:
Switch the dishwasher off with the button.
The filter combination in the wash cabinet is clogged.
Clean the filter combination (see “Cleaning and
care, Cleaning the filters”).
The drain pump or the non-return valve is blocked.

A foreign object (e.g. a cherry stone) has become
lodged in the drain pump.
Remove the foreign object from the drain pump
(see “Maintenance, Cleaning the drain pump and
non-return valve”).
This may be caused by the on-site installation or the
cross-section of the piping.
However, this will not affect the functioning of the
dishwasher in any way.
If in doubt, contact a suitably qualified plumber.

Unsatisfactory cleaning result
ProblemCause and remedy
The dishes are not
clean.
Smearing appears on
glassware and cutlery.
There is a bluish sheen
on the surface of glassware; film can be wiped
off.
The dishes were not loaded correctly.
See notes in “Loading the dishwasher”.
The programme was not suitable for the load.
Select a more suitable programme (see “Pro-
gramme chart”).
Not enough detergent was dispensed.

The detergent used is not suitable for the type of soiling present.
Change your detergent.
Items are blocking the path of the spray arms.
Rearrange the items so that the spray arms can ro-
tate freely.
The filter combination in the base of the wash cabinet
is not clean or is not correctly fitted.
This may have caused the spray arm jets to get
blocked.

Maintenance
Cleaning the water inlet filter
A filter is incorporated in the screw connection to protect the water inlet valve.
The filter must be cleaned when dirty,
otherwise insufficient water flows into
the wash cabinet.
The plastic housing of the water
connection contains an electrical
valve.
The housing must not be dipped in
water.
Recommendation
If the water supply contains a large
number of insoluble substances, we recommend fitting a large-area filter in the
connection between the stopcock and
the safety valve threaded union.
This water filter is available from a Miele
dealer or from the Miele Customer Service Department.
To clean the filter:
Disconnect the dishwasher from the
mains.
To do this, turn off the dishwasher,
switch off at the socket and remove
the plug.
Close the stopcock.
Unscrew the water inlet valve.
Remove the seal from the screw con-
nection.
Withdraw the filter using combination
or pointed pliers and rinse clean under running water.
Refit the filter and seal. Make sure
they are fitted correctly.
Screw the water inlet valve to the
stopcock. Make sure not to crossthread the connection.
Open the stopcock.
If water leaks out, the inlet hose may
not be connected securely or it may
have been screwed on at an angle.
Fit the water inlet valve straight and
screw it in place.
66
Cleaning the drain pump and
non-return valve
If the water has not been pumped away
at the end of a programme the drain
pump or the non-return valve might be
blocked. They are, however, easy to
clean.
Disconnect the dishwasher from the
mains supply. Switch off at the mains
socket and withdraw the plug.
Take the filter combination out of the
wash cabinet (see “Cleaning and
care”, “Cleaning the filters”).
Scoop the water out of the cabinet
using a suitable container or utensil.
Maintenance
The drain pump is situated under the
non-return valve (see arrow).
Remove all foreign objects from the
drain pump carefully (watch out for
glass splinters which are particularly
difficult to detect). Turn the drain
pump impeller by hand to check that
there are no more obstructions. You
will feel a little resistance when you
turn the impeller.
Press the catch for the non-return
valve inwards .
Tilt the non-return valve inwards until
it is released.
Rinse it thoroughly under running wa-
ter and remove any soiling from the
non-return valve.
Carefully replace the non-return
valve.
Ensure that the catch engages
correctly.
Be very careful not to damage
sensitive components when cleaning
the drain pump and the non-return
valve.

69
Electrical connection
Electrical connection
All work on the electrical con-
nection must be carried out by the
Miele Customer Service Department,
an authorised Miele dealer or a qualified electrician.
– In the UK it must comply with BS
7671.
– The connection to the power supply
must comply with national regulations (plug and socket must be accessible for service and maintenance
work after the machine has been installed). An electrical safety test must
be carried out after installation and
after any service work.
– If the dishwasher is hard wired to the
power supply, connection should be
made via a mains switch with all-pole
isolation. The mains switch must ensure a 3mm gap between all open
contacts, and must be able to be
locked in the off position.
Converting the machine to a different
type of power supply can lead to
longer programme durations, resulting in increased energy consumption.
The values declared on the label will
only be achieved if the machine remains in the state in which it was delivered.
The data plates are located at the back
of the dishwasher and along the right
edge of the open door.
The wiring diagram is supplied with
the machine.
The conversion diagram is attached to
the plinth panel behind the plinth cover.
Equipotential bonding connection
There is a screw connection point
marked at the back of the appliance,
to which additional equipotential bonding can be connected.
– Equipotential bonding should be car-
ried out if required.
– If replacing the mains cable, use only
original Miele replacement parts or a
suitable cable with core cable ends.
– For technical data see data plate or
wiring diagram supplied.
The machine must only be operated
with the voltage, frequency and fusing
shown on the data plate.
This machine can be converted to adifferent type of power supply in accordance with the conversion diagram
and wiring diagram supplied.

Plumbing
The Miele Waterproof system
As long as your dishwasher has been
installed correctly, the Miele waterproof
anti-leak system will protect you from
water damage throughout its lifetime.
Water intake
Water in the dishwasher must
not be used as drinking water.
– The dishwasher must be connected
to the water supply in strict accordance with current local and national
water authority regulations.
– The water used must at least comply
with national regulations for drinking
water quality.
If the water supply has a high iron
content, there is a danger of corrosion occurring on items being
cleaned in the dishwasher, as well as
the machine itself.
If the chloride content of the water
exceeds 100mg/l, the risk of corrosion to items being cleaned in the
dishwasher will be further increased.
– The water pressure (flow pressure at
the take-off point) must be between
30 and 1000kPa (0.3 and 10bar).
If the water pressure is lower than
this, the fault message Water intake
will appear in the display (see “Problem solving guide”).
If the water pressure is too high, a
pressure reducer valve must be fitted.
– A stopcock valve with a 3/4 inch male
thread must be provided on site. It
should be easily accessible so that
the water supply can be turned off
when the dishwasher is not in use.
– The DN 10 inlet hose is approx. 1.5m
long terminating in a 3/4inch female
thread. A 1.5m long flexible metal
extension hose tested to 140bar
(14,000kPa) is available as an optional accessory if required. On no
account may the inlet filter be removed.
– In certain regions (e.g. mountainous
regions), the water composition may
cause precipitates to form, requiring
the use of softened water for the
dishwasher.
– A device for preventing the return
flow of water is not necessary, as this
commercial dishwasher conforms to
the applicable standards for the protection of drinking water. However, if
the vessel is moored and connected
to a dock supply, then it is the responsibility of the dock to ensure the
water supply is adequately protected.
71
Plumbing
To avoid any damage to the ma-
chine, the dishwasher must only be
connected to a fully vented plumbing
system.
The inlet hose must not be
shortened or damaged in any way as
it contains electrical components
(see illustration).
72
Plumbing
Connecting the drainage system
– The machine drainage system is fit-
ted with a non-return valve, which
prevents dirty water from flowing
back into the dishwasher via the
drain hose.
– The dishwasher drain hose should be
connected to a separate on-site drain
for the dishwasher only. If no separate drain is available, we recommend
connecting it to a dual-chamber siphon.
– The dishwasher is supplied with ap-
prox. 1.5m of flexible drain hose with
an internal diameter of 22mm.
Hose clips are supplied with the dishwasher.
– The drain hose must not be
shortened! The hose can be extended using a connection piece to attach a further length of hose. The
drainage length must not be longer
than 4m and the delivery head no
higher than 1m.
– The drainage system must be able to
accommodate a minimum drainage
flow of 16l/min.
Venting the drainage system
If the on-site drainage connection is
situated lower than the guide path for
the lower basket rollers in the open
door, the drainage system must be vented. Otherwise, a siphoning effect during a programme can cause the appliance to empty itself of water.
To vent it:
Open the dishwasher door fully.
Pull the lower spray arm firmly up-
wards to remove it.
Cut off the top of the vent valve in the
wash cabinet.
Make sure that there are no kinks
in the hose, and that it is not
squashed or stretched.
