Warning and Safety instructions
Building in and connection
The appliance must be installed
and connected by a suitably quali
fied and competent person in strict ac
cordance with national and local safety
regulations. The manufacturer cannot
be held responsible for damage
caused by incorrect installation or con
nection.
The electrical safety of this appli
ance can only be guaranteed when
continuity is complete between the ap
pliance and an effective earthing sys
tem, which complies with local and na
tional safety regulations. It is most important that this basic safety requirement is tested by a qualified electrician.
The manufacturer cannot be held responsible for the consequences of an
inadequate earthing system such as an
electric shock.
Do not connect the appliance to
the mains electrical supply by an
extension lead. Extension leads do not
guarantee the required safety of the ap
pliance.

The hob may not be built in over a
dishwasher, a washing machine or
tumble dryer, or over a fridge,
fridge-freezer or freezer. The high tem
peratures radiating downwards from the
hob could damage these appliances.
Because of the heat radiated
-
-
-
-
downwards it is not recommended
fitting this appliance over a drawer. It
should be fitted in a suitable base unit
with a dummy drawer front and an ad
ditional protective base between the
appliance and the unit.
This equipment is not designed for
maritime use or for use in mobile
installations such as caravans, aircraft
etc. However it may be suitable for
such usage subject to a risk assessment of the installation being carried
out be a suitably qualified engineer.

Warning and Safety instructions
Correct usage
Before installing and using the ap
pliance for the first time, read the
operating and installation instructions
carefully. They give information on
safety, on the operation and care of the
appliance. This way you will avoid the
risk of accidents and damage to the
appliance.
Do not let children access the ap
pliance or its controls. Supervise its
use by the elderly or infirm.
This appliance must only be oper
ated as a built-in appliance. This is
necessary to ensure that all electrical
components are shielded.
This appliance is intended for do-
mestic use only and is not to be
used for commercial purposes.
Use this appliance for the prepara

tion of meals only. Any other usage
is at the owner’s risk and could be dan
gerous. The manufacturer cannot be
held responsible for damage caused
by improper use or misuse of the appli
ance.
Do not use the appliance to heat
up the room. Due to the high tem
peratures radiated objects left near the
appliance could catch fire.

Warning and Safety instructions
Protection from damage
Do not drop anything on the appli
ance. Even a light object such as a
salt cellar, could cause damage in cer
tain circumstances.
Do not use pots or pans on the ce
ramic hob with bases with pro
nounced edges or ridges. These could
scratch or scour the hob surface per
manently. Grains of salt and sand can
also scratch.
Do not allow either solid or liquid
sugar or pieces of plastic or alu
minium foil to get on the cooking zones
when they are hot. If this should occur,
switch off the hob and carefully scrape
off all the sugar, plastic or aluminium remains from the hob while it is still hot
using a shielded scraper blade. Take
care not to burn yourself. If these residues are allowed to cool before the hob
surface has been cleaned, the ceramic
surface will be susceptible to pitting or
even cracking.
Danger of burning.
Clean the appliance once it has cooled
down.
-
-
-
Remove any soiling as quickly as
-
-
-
possible to prevent it from burning
on to the ceramic surface and ensure
that pan bases are clean, dry and free
of grease before use.
Under no circumstances use a
steam-cleaning appliance to clean
the ceramic hob. Pressurised steam
could cause permanent damage to the
surface and to components, for which
the manufacturer cannot accept re
sponsibility.
Unless the pan manufacturer
states that you can do so, you
should never use pans with thin bases
on this hob and you should never heat
up an empty pan. Otherwise the hob
could get damaged.
Never place hot pans near the con-
trol area. This could damage the
electronic controls underneath.
In countries where there are areas
which may be subject to infestation
by cockroaches or other vermin, pay
particular attention to keeping the appli
ance and its surroundings in a clean
condition at all times. Any damage
which may be caused by cockroaches
or other vermin will not be covered by
the appliance guarantee.

Warning and Safety instructions
Protection from burning
The surface of the hob is hot when
in use, and remains hot for a time
after being switched off. Keep children
away. There is a danger of burning until
the residual heat indicator goes out.
Do not store anything which might
arouse a child’s interest in storage
areas above or next to the hob. Other
wise they could be tempted into climb
ing onto the appliance with the risk of
burning themselves.
Use heat-resistant pot holders or
gloves when handling hot pots and
pans. Do not let them get damp or wet,
as this causes heat to transfer through
the material more quickly with the risk
of burning yourself.
Keep all pans out of reach of chil-
dren. Turn pan handles inwards
away from the edge of the hob.
Special hob guards are available from
good retail outlets.
-
Do not heat up unopened contain
ers of food, e.g. tins, on the hob, as
pressure can build up and they may ex
plode. This could result in injury and
scalding or damage.
Do not use the hob as a resting
place for anything else. This could
lead to a danger of the article begin
ning to melt or catching fire, if residual
heat were still present or if the hob were
to be switched on inadvertently.
Never cover the hob with a cloth or
a hob cover sheet. There is a dan
ger of this burning if the hob is
switched on.
-
-
-
-
9
Warning and Safety instructions
Never leave the hob unattended
when cooking with oil or fat. Very
hot oil can catch fire. Always heat fat
slowly, watching as it heats.
If oil or fat does catch fire despite
this do not attempt to put out the
flames with water. Use a suitable fire
blanket or fire extinguisher.
Never flambé under a cooker
hood. The flames could set the
cooker hood on fire.
If a drawer is to be fitted below the
hob, ensure that no aerosols, com
bustible liquids or other easily flamma
ble materials are kept in the drawer. If
cutlery inserts are to be placed in the
drawer, these must be made of a suit
able heat-resistant material.
