This PostScript® Set-up Guide describes how to install the Post­Script® DIMM, expansion memory and PostScript® Printer Soft­ware for PageWorks 20. Before reading this PostScript® Set-up Guide, we recommend that you read the User’s Manual for Page Works 20. It explains how to set up and operate the printer.
No part of this document may be reproduced, transmitted, tran­scribed, stored in a retrieval system, or translated into other lan­guages without the express written prior consent from Minolta Co., Ltd.

Limited Software Warranty
Limited Warranty
Minolta warrants that the software will perform in accordance with the accompanying written materials for a period of (90) ninety days from the date of purchase. Minolta does not warrant that the operation of the program will meet your requirements. This lim ited warranty gives you specific legal rights. You may have others, which vary from state/jurisdiction to state/jurisdiction.
Purchasers Remedies
Minolta’s entire liability and your exclusi v e remedy with respect to the software shall be at Minolta’s option either, repair or replace ment of the software. The software must be returned to Minolta with a copy of your proof of purchase. The Limited Warranty is void if failure of the software has resulted from accident, abuse, or misapplication. Any replacement software will be warranted for the remainder of the original warranty period or (30) thirty days, whichever is longer.
The remedies provided herein are customer’s sole and exclusive remedies. In no event shall Minolta Corporation be liable for any lost profits, direct, indirect, special, incidental, or conse quential damages, whether based on contract, tort, or any other legal theory.

PostScript® DIMM Warranty
Warranty Term
The PostScript® DIMM has a (1) One Year Warranty. The Post­Script® DIMM must be returned to Minolta for repair or replace­ment at Minolta’s discretion.
Warranty Coverage
Minolta Corporation warrants this product to be free from defects in workmanship and materials for a period of one year from the date of receipt of the unit. If the unit fails to function as written in the User’s Guide, Minolta will repair or replace the unit at no charge. Minolta will ship at their expense an exchange unit over night to replace the defective unit.
The remedies provided herein are the customers sole and exclusive remedies. In no event shall Minolta Corporation be liable for any lost profits, direct or indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages, whether based on contract, tort, or other legal history.

The Minolta PageWorks 20 PostScript Printer Software allows you take full advantage of your printer’s features and capabilities using your computer running Windows 95. This chapter describes how to install this software while explaining the software’s features.

System Requirements

The following list contains the system requirements necessary for optimal operation of the Minolta PageWorks 20 PostScript Printer Software.
• Operating System: Microsoft Windows 95.
• Personal Computer: IBM-compatible PC with at least a 486SX 33Mz CPU, or faster CPU (Pentium processor recommended).
• I/O Interface: Standard PC parallel printer port and cable.
• Memory: At least 12MB PC RAM (16MB recommended).
• Free Hard disk Space: Approximately 2MB for files.

• Disk Drive: 3.5-inch drive with 1.4MB capacity is required for installation only.
• Display: VGA (640 x 480-dot) or higher resolution.

• Use of a poor quality parallel cable may adversely affect the input.

Installing the Software

NOTE

• Make sure that the printer is connected to your computer with the recommended parallel cable.
1. Turn on the printer.
2. Turn on your computer and start up Windows 95.
3. Insert the diskette labeled PageWorks 20 PostScript

4. Click the Start button, click Settings, and then click Printers.
5. Double-click the Add Printer icon.

7. Select Local printer if the printer is connected directly to your computer or a network.

• If your printer is connected to a Network, we recommend consulting your network administrator and referring to the Network Interface Card Manuals.

14. If you wish, rename the printer and then click the Next > button. To proceed without renaming the printer, click the ton without changing the name.
15. Select Yes (recommended) to print a test page or No if you want to proceed without printing a test page.
16. Click the Finish button and the installer will start copying the files.

Removing the Software

NOTE

• Before removing the Minolta PageWorks 20 -PS printer software, be sure to close all application software you are using.
1. Turn on your computer and start up Windows 95.
2. Click the Start button, click Settings, and then click Printers.
3. Click Minolta PageWorks 20 -PS.
4. Click File and then Delete.
5. Click Yes to remove the printer software.
6. Click Yes to delete all files related to the Minolta PageWorks 20 PostScript Printer Software.

The Minolta PageWorks 20 PostScript Printer Software was provided by Adobe Systems Incorporated, and allows you take full advantage of your printer's features and capabilities using your computer running Windows 3.1. This chapter describes how to install this printer driver while explaining the driver’s features.

System Requirements

The following list contains the system requirements necessary for optimal operation of the Minolta PageWorks 20 PostScript Printer Software.
• Operating System: Microsoft Windows 3.1 or later.
• Personal Computer: IBM-compatible PC with at least a 386DX 16Mz CPU, or faster CPU (Pentium processor recommended).

Installing the Software

5. Open the drive A:\ window, then double-click the Setup.exe icon to start up the installer.
6. Click the Read button to open the ReadMe file for Adobe PS3 for Windows 3.1, then read the document.

7. Select Exit from the File menu on the ReadMe screen to return to the PostScript Printer Driver Setup dialog box.
8. Click the Continue button to start installing the printer driver.

9. Click the Restart Windows button to restart Windows 3.1.

NOTE

• If the Install PostScript Printer from PPD dialog box does not appear after Windows 3.1 is restarted, open the Install PostScript Printer from PPD dialog box manually. From the Main group double-click the Control Panel icon, then double­click Adobe PostScript Printers.
10. Select a: drive, then select Minolta PageWorks 20 -PS in the Printer Descriptions Available list, then click the The following dialog box appears.

Removing the Software

NOTE

• Before removing the Minolta PageWorks 20 -PS printer software, be sure to close all application software you are using.
1. Turn on your computer and start up Windows 3.1.
2. Go to the Program Manager and double-click Main to display the Main group, then double-click Control Panel dialog.
3. Double-click Printers to display the Printers dialog box.
4. Select Minolta PageWorks 20 -PS from the Installed Printers menu and click to confirm your selection.

1. Turn on the printer.

2. Turn on your computer and start up the Mac OS.

• The following procedure is described based on the condition that your Macintosh has the Adobe PSPrinter 8.3.1 installed.

13. From the Chooser dialog box, click the PSPrinter icon.

14. Select Minolta PageWorks20, then click the Setup button.

Then, the Printer Description File, Memory Configuration, Duplex Unit and Tray 3 settings are automatically specif ied to the appropriate settings. After this auto setup, proceed to step 19.
If the auto setup did not perform, proceed to step 15 (ne xt step) to perform the setup manually.

• When an additional expansion memory is installed in your printer, the Memory Configuration setting must be changed to the appropriate value. The Memory Configuration means the total installed memory.
• When the optional Duplex Unit is installed on your printer, the Duplex Unit setting must be changed so that its installation is recognized by the printer software.
• When the optional Third Tray Unit is installed on your printer, the Tray3 setting must be changed so that its installation is recognized by the printer software.

Installing Screen Fonts
The “Screen Fonts” suitcas e conta ins reside nt fonts th at are visible on a Macintosh screen.

For screen fonts installation on a Macintosh:

1. Insert the diskette labeled Screen Fonts for Macintosh into one of your computer’s floppy disk drives.

2. Double-click the “Macintosh HD” icon to open the Macintosh HD folder.

3. Drag the “Screen Fonts” icon onto the “System Folder” icon and drop it (release the mouse button).

4. The following windows appears. Click the OK button. This completes the installation of the screen fonts.
