Cleaning Procedure
Issue:
This Technical Bulletin provides cleaning information/procedure for V8 XJ Series air particle
filters.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Replacement air particle filters for the V8 XJ Series are no longer available.
Action:
In order to maintain correct airflow and filtration levels, accumulated particles must be removed
from the air particle filters surface.
Following removal of the air particle filter for scheduled replacement, it will be necessary to
follow the workshop procedure below.

CLEANING PROCEDURE
Caution: Use care when removing, cleaning and reinstalling the air particle
filter as a damaged filter can not be reinstalled, nor replaced.
1. Using a suitable tool (plastic knife) remove mastic seal from air particle filter.
2. Using vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment clean air particle filter surfaces.
Note: No solvents or cleaning fluids should be used on the filter element.
3. Using a suitable RTV sealant seal top edge of air particle filter.
4. Refit air particle filter.
Note: The ‘flocked’ surface of air particle filter should face toward incoming
air flow.
