as transportation devices related to aviation, rail, marine, automotive, etc.;
disaster prevention devices; various safety devices, etc.; or functional/precision
devices, etc.; you should use this product only after giving consideration to
including fail-safes and redundancies into your design to maintain safety and
total system reliability. Because this product was not intended for use in
applications requiring extremely high reliability/safety, such as aerospace
equipment, main communication equipment, nuclear power control equipment,

Purpose of This Manual

This manual provides information describing basic operations to operators of the
TM-U300C/U300PC to enable safe and correct use of the printer.

The following items are included with the standard specification printer.

POWER LED

Lights when the power is on and is off when the power is off.

PAPER LED

Lights when roll paper is out or nearly out.
Flashes when an error occurs, when validation paper must be inserted or
removed, when the self-test enters the printing standby state, or when printing
has stopped due to exceeding the allowable print duty cycle.

FEED button

Feeds the roll paper.

Removing the Transportation Damper

The transportation damper must be removed before turning on the printer.
Open the printer cover and remove the damper as shown in illustration C.

Connecting the Cables

1. Make sure the printer is turned off.

2. Connect the power cord and an interface cable to the connectors on the
printer back.

3. Ground the printer by connecting a frame ground cable to the printer with
the frame ground screw located on the bottom of the printer. For the TM­U300PC, fix a shield wire of the parallel interface cable and the frame ground
cable with the same screw.

Note:

The frame ground cable is not enclosed. Be sure to use the appropeiate cable for your
system.

4. Insert the power cord plug into a socket.

Installing and Replacing the Ribbon Cassette

Note:

Use Epson ERC-34 ribbon cassette.

1. Open the printer cover while pressing both sides of the printer cover. (See
illustration

2. Remove the used ribbon cassette, if there is one. To remove it, lift the tab on
the left side of the cassette first.

3. Turn the ribbon-tightening knob in the direction of the arrow to take up any
slack in the ribbon.

4. Fit the ribbon between the print head unit and the ribbon mask, and push the
cassette firmly into position.

5. Turn the knob 5 or 6 times to feed the ribbon smoothly into place, and check
that the ribbon is not twisted or creased.

Installing the Roll Paper

Note:

Be sure to use the specified roll paper.

1. Cut the leading edge of the roll paper with scissors so that it is perpendicular
to the paper feed direction.

2. Open the take-up device cover, and remove the take-up spool from the
printer. (See illustration H.)
If there is roll paper remaining, cut the paper straight across using scissors at
the line marked “a“ in illustration
remove the remaining roll paper by pulling it lightly out in the direction of
the arrow in the illustration.

3. Load the new roll paper while lightly pressing the left roll paper holder
outward, and release the holder after fitting the roll paper core onto the
holder. (See illustration J.)

Note:

Make sure the roll paper turns freely and rotates in the correct direction.

4. Turn on the printer.

5. While leaving some slack in the roll paper, insert the end of the roll paper
straight into the paper inlet. The printer automatically feeds the roll paper
into the printer (semi-automatic loading).

6. Press the FEED button to continue feeding the paper until it extends about 20
cm (8 inches) beyond tear-off edge.

7. Remove the side board of the take-up spool and insert the end of the roll
paper (or journal paper when using 2- or 3-ply paper) into the groove on the
take-up spool. Wrap the paper around the spool two or three times and then
replace the side board of the take-up spool.

8. Install the take-up spool in the printer. Make sure that the gear on the take-up
spool aligns with the gear on the printer.

9. Close the take-up device cover.

10. Tear off any extra paper at the tear-off edge by pulling the paper toward you.

CAUTION:

Be sure to tear off the extra paper after closing the take-up device cover
so that the roll paper comes out correctly from the paper exit.

Adjusting the Paper Near-end Detector Location

When the paper near-end detector senses that the paper is almost out, the printer
turns on the PAPER LED.

Because the roll paper core size differs depending on the roll paper, you may need
to adjust the paper near-end detector location.

1. Make sure the paper core inside diameter is 10.5 to 12.5 mm {0.41 to 0.49”}.

2. Measure the diameter of the roll paper indicated as A in the illustration
below, and set the position detector plate to the appropriate position
according to the adjustment position number from the table below. (See
illustration

Note:

Since the adjustment values in the table below are calculated values, there may be
some variations depending on the printer.

If roll paper with a red end mark at the paper end is used, this mark may cause the
paper to stick together. If this occurs, the paper near-end detector may not operate
correctly.

If the roll paper becomes loose due to the paper quality, the paper near-end detector
may not operate correctly.

Inserting Cut Sheet (Validation Paper)

Note:

Be sure to use the specified validation paper.
Make sure that the paper is flat, without curls, folds, or wrinkles.
The printer can print only one line on validation paper. Though printing is performed, the

paper is not fed.
Be sure to print on the validation paper when the roll paper is installed.
Select multi-ply paper carefully because the gluing conditions (glue quality, gluing

method, glued length, etc.) and the position of the glued area affect paper insertion; insert
the validation paper so that the glued position is on the left or top edge of the paper as seen
from the front.

When the optional validation detector is installed, do not use validation with holes in the
area shown below, or the paper detector does not work correctly.

3. Select validation paper mode with the printer control command.

CAUTION:

When printing on copy sheets, make sure the glued (fixed) edge is
positioned as shown in illustration

After inserting validation paper, do not move the paper. Doing so may
cause the paper to slip.

Test Printing

After the printer setup or when the printer is not operating correctly, you can
check the printer operation with test printing. If the printer performs pattern
printing following the steps below, the printer is operating normally.

1. Make sure the ribbon cassette and the roll paper have been installed properly,
and all the covers are closed.

2. Turn on the printer while pressing the FEED button.

3. After the printer prints its status and the PAPER LED flashes, press the FEED
button to restart test printing.

Test printing is completed when "*** completed***” is printed.

Setting the DIP Switches

The DIP switches are located on the bottom of the printer. (See illustration P.)
Turn off the printer, and set the DIP switches using tweezers or another narrow-

ended tool. The new setting takes effect when you turn on the printer.

CAUTION:

Be sure to change DIP switch setting when the printer is turned off.

Removing Jammed Paper

When a paper jam occurs, open the take-up device cover, and turn the paper feed
knob as shown in illustration

Menyala apabila daya hidup dan mati apabila daya mati.

Menyala saat kertas kasir keluar atau hampir keluar.
Berkedip saat terjadi kesalahan, saat kertas yang tepat harus dimasukkan atau
dikeluarkan, saat tes mandiri memasuki keadaan siaga cetak, atau saat
pencetakan berhenti karena melebihi siklus tugas cetak yang diizinkan.

Membuka Peredam Transportasi

Peredam transportasi harus dilepas sebelum menyalakan printer.
Buka penutup printer dan lepas peredam seperti ditampilkan di ilustrasi C.

Menyambungkan Kabel

1. Pastikan printer mati.

2. Sambungkan kabel daya dan kabel antarmuka ke konektor pada bagian
belakang printer.

3. Berilah arde printer dengan menghubungkan kabel arde rangka ke printer
dengan sekrup arde rangka yang ada di bawah printer. Untuk TM-U300PC,
atur rangkaian perisai kabel antar muka paralel dan kabel arde rangka
dengan sekrup yang sama.

Catatan:

Kabel arde rangka tidak disertakan. Pastikan untuk menggunakan kabel yang sesuai
untuk sistem Anda.

4. Masukkan steker kabel daya ke dalam soket.

Memasang dan Mengganti Kaset Pita

Catatan:

Gunakan kaset pita Epson ERC-34.

1. Buka penutup printer saat menekan kedua sisi tutup printer. (Lihat
ilustrasi

2. Lepaskan kaset pita bekas jika ada. Untuk melepaskannya, angkat tab pada
sisi kiri kaset terlebih dahulu. (Lihat ilustrasi

3. Putar tombol pengencang pita sesuai arah panah untuk mengencangkan pita

Memasang Kertas Kasir

Catatan:

Pastikan menggunakan kertas kasir khusus.

1. Potong tepi depan kertas kasir dengan gunting sehingga tegak lurus dengan
arah umpan kertas.

2. Buka tutup peralatan pengangkat, dan lepas gelondongan pengangkat dari
printer. (Lihat ilustrasi H.)
Jika masih ada sisa kertas kasir, potong kertas lurus melintang dengan
gunting pada garis yang ditandai huruf “a“ pada ilustrasi
menekan tombol FEED (Umpan), lepaskan sisa kertas kasir dengan menarik
keluar sedikit sesuai arah panah pada ilustrasi.

3. Masukkan kertas kasir baru sambil sedikit menekan penahan kertas kasir
keluar, dan lepaskan penahan setelah menempatkan bagian tengah kertas
kasir ke penahannya. (Lihat ilustrasi J.)

Catatan:

Pastikan agar kertas kasir berputar dengan bebas dan sesuai dengan arah yang benar.

4. Hidupkan printer.

5. Sambil mengencangkan kertas kasir yang kendur, masukkan ujung kertas
kasir lurus ke dalam jalur masuk kertas. Printer akan mengumpankan kertas
kasir secara otomatis ke dalam printer (memasukkan dengan semi otomatis)

6. Tekan tombol FEED (Umpan) untuk melanjutkan mengumpan kertas hinga
memanjang sekitar 20 cm (8 inci) melebihi tepi sobek.

7. Lepas papan samping gelondongan pengangkat dan masukkan ujung kertas
kasir (atau kertas jurnal saat menggunakan kertas lapis 2 atau 3) ke dalam
lekuk pada gelondongan pengangkat. Bungkus kertas di sekitar gelondongan
dua atau tiga kali lalu ganti papan samping gelondongan pengangkatnya.

8. Pasang gelondongan pengangkat kertas pada printer. Pastikan agar roda gigi
pada gelondongan pengangkat sejajar dengan roda gigi pada printer. (Lihat

9. Tutup penutup perangkat pengangkat.

10. Sobek kelebihan kertas pada ujung sobek dengan menarik kertas ke arah
Anda.

Menyesuaikan Lokasi Detektor Kertas Hampir Habis

Saat detektor kertas hampir habis mengetahui bahwa kertas hampir keluar,
printer akan menyalakan LED PAPER (Kertas).

Karena ukuran bagian tengah kertas kasir berbeda bergantung pada jenisnya,
Anda mungkin harus menyesuaikan lokasi detektor kertas hampir habis.

1. Pastikan diameter dalam bagian tengah kertas berukuran 10,5 hingga 12,5
mm {0,41 hingga 0,49”}.

2. Ukur diameter kertas kasir yang ditandai dengan huruf A pada ilustrasi di
bawah, dan atur pelat detektor posisi ke posisi yang tepat sesuai dengan
nomor posisi penyesuaian dari tabel di bawah. (Lihat ilustrasi N.)

Catatan:

Karena nilai penyesuaian pada tabel di bawah adalah nilai yang dihitung, mungkin
akan ada beberapa variasi bergantung pada printer.

Jika kertas kasir dengan tanda ujung merah pada ujung kertas digunakan, tanda ini
bisa menyebabkan kertas lengket. Jika hal ini terjadi, detektor kertas hampir habis
mungkin tidak dapat berfungsi dengan benar.

Jika kertas kasir menjadi kendur karena kualitas kertas, detektor kertas hampir habis
mungkin tidak berfungsi dengan benar.

Pastikan kertas rata, tidak keriting, terlipat, atau berkerut.
Printer hanya dapat mencetak satu baris pada kertas yang tepat. Meski pencetakan

dilakukan, kertas tidak akan diumpankan.
Pastikan untuk mencetak pada kertas yang tepat saat kertas kasir dipasang.
Pilih kertas berlapis dengan hati-hati karena kondisi yang lengket (kualitas lem, metode

pengeleman, panjang yang dilem, dll.) dan posisi area yang dilem mempengaruhi
pemasukan kertas; masukkan kertas yang tepat sehingga posisi yang dilem berada di
sebelah kiri atau ujung atas kertas seperti terlihat dari depan.

Tes Pencetakan

Setelah penyetelan printer atau jika printer tidak berfungsi dengan benar, Anda
dapat memeriksa pengoperasian printer dengan tes pencetakan. Jika printer
melakukan pencetakan corak dengan mengikuti langkah-langkah di bawah,
printer akan berfungsi dengan normal.

1. Pastikan agar kaset pita dan kertas kasir terpasang dengan benar, dan semua
tutup telah tertutup.

2. Nyalakan printer sambil menekan tombol FEED (Umpan).

3. Setelah printer mencetak statusnya dan LED PAPER (Kertas) berkedip, tekan
tombol FEED (Umpan) untuk memulai lagi tes pencetakan.

Tes pencetakan selesai saat “*** completed***” dicetak.

Menyetel Sakelar DIP

Sakelar DIP berada di bawah printer. (Lihat ilustrasi P.)
Matikan printer, dan setel sakelar DIP dengan pinset atau alat berujung kecil

lainnya. Pengaturan baru dapat Anda lihat saat menyalakan printer.
