2.3Features
Eppendorf Serological Pipets are single-use items for aspiring and dispensing liquids using manual and
electronic pipette controllers (e.g., Eppendorf Easypet 3 and Eppendorf Pipet Helper). The pipettes are
calibrated to blow-out. The various pipette sizes are marked with a color code.
2.4Materials
NOTICE! Aggressive substances may damage the Eppendorf Serological Pipets and
accessories.
Check the resistance to chemicals before using organic solvents or aggressive chemicals.

3Safety
3.1Intended use
In combination with pipette controllers Eppendorf Serological Pipets are intended for dispensing liquids
within a volume range of 0.1 mL to 50 mL.

Eppendorf Serological Pipets can be used for training, routine and research laboratories in the areas of life
sciences, industry or chemistry. This product is intended to be used for research purposes only. Eppendorf
does not provide a warranty for other applications. Not suitable for use in diagnostic or therapeutic
applications. Eppendorf Serological Pipets may only be used by skilled personnel who have been trained in
the areas mentioned above.
The user must carefully read the instructions for use and the operating manual of the pipette controller
used and become familiar with how the device works.

3.2Warnings for intended use
WARNING! Damage to health from toxic, radioactive or aggressive chemicals as well as
infectious liquids and pathogenic germs.
Observe the national regulations for handling these substances, the biological security
level of your laboratory, the material safety data sheets and the manufacturer's application
notes.
Wear personal protective equipment.
For full instructions regarding the handling of germs or biological material of risk group II
or higher, please refer to the "Laboratory Biosafety Manual" (Source: World Health
Organization, current edition of the Laboratory Biosafety Manual).
Eppendorf Serological Pipets are not autoclavable.
4Operation
To ensure maximum protection against contamination use Eppendorf Serological Pipets
immediately after opening the packing.
1. Open the packing at the location indicated.
2. Insert the pipette carefully into the corresponding opening of the pipette controller until the pipette
seals airtight.
3. Immerse the pipette into the liquid.
4. Fill the pipette up to above the desired dispensing volume.
5. Set the lower meniscus to the desired dispensing volume.
6. Wipe the pipette on the inner wall of the source vessel and remove it.
7. Hold the pipette vertically and place it against the inner wall of the destination vessel.
8. Allow liquid to flow out.
9. Blow out residual volume.
• Observe the lower meniscus while dispensing.

Eppendorf Serological Pipets are sterile, free of pyrogens, RNase, DNase, DNA, and not cytotoxic.
You can find the date of expiry on the label of the folding box and on the blister packing.

For Eppendorf Consumables lot-specific certificates are available. You can find the lot number on the
